@Dazsturbed dude hes actually playing, that one shot showed him playing straight pentatonic licks. and the thing on the end was probably pushing on the low E right next to the tuner, kind of like tony Iommi's iron man intro. You can do a sort of dive bomb like that. John 5 did a live crazy high pitched harmonic squeal on a telecaster.
