PERFECT. This is a song that wil always make me remember my first love, but it will always make me remember that life goes on an you can find true love and still have that memory of the past.
Keith was born on July 1,1954 my husband who passed away in Aug 95 birthday was July 1st 1948 I loved this song as he did this was the last song he and I ever danced to on may 20,1995 awesome singer will be much missed as my husband is
i love this song it makes me think of my ex we were together for 5 almost 6 yrs we split up in jan he is with someone else now but not a day goes by that i dont think of him i miss him alot and still very much in love with him.....
Im from the UK and not a great lover of country music, but this is beautiful song, superbly sung. KW is a great talent who wasted his life and god given talent. Why did someone not sort him out.
I love Keith Whitley and always will! He was the greatest Country singer and the world has a huge hole because of his death and just imagine what he would have done next! mwahhhh Keith we love you and thank you for your beautiful music that touched our hearts!
I still remember the day Keith passed....and it hurts just as much today that such a shining musical star is gone. Miss you Keith. Your voice is magical....
A favorite of mine. He was a good ol bluegrass singer that went country and bluegrass is still very much alive today. His life teaches us all a lesson and young people. Just be yourself! The entertainment world builds a persona around these stars and entertainers that we've seen time and again. They end up losing their identity to the expectations of their fans and record companies. They just can't handle the fame because it's not who they really are and it often ends tragically like Keith
like kieth, waylon, johnny and more, they are of a dieing breed. its sad. It is true counrty music. When you have real singers today like Jamey johnson who is to " ruff " for radio play because of all the prissy soda pop music lovin soccer moms being politically correct, maybe someone like scotty mcreery can keep it going. I have not listened to country music radio on a norm in years because of all the urban rock pop country crap. Just my opinion.
I never got the opportunity to see this legend, I was only 2 yrs old when he passed but He is and always will be my favorite singer of all time i play guitar i started out in bluegrass, He is my inspiration and my HERO, I Hope I can keep playin in bars in Kentucky so people never forget what real country music is.......
I when Country Music was Country Music.... I miss those days.

2 months ago I sure would love to time travel to the late 1980s and enjoy some Keith Whitley. Unfortunately I was born in '98 and I sure do enjoy his music!! Keith will always be a true country singer, and he is certainly not forgotten. RIP Keith :(
I sure would love to time travel to the late 1980s and enjoy some Keith Whitley. Unfortunately I was born in the early 90s, and I sure do enjoy his music!! Keith will always be a true country singer, and he is certainly not forgotten. RIP Keith :(
I don't know if this is the best country song, but its close. I appreciate the song and the fact that Keith wrote and recorded the song, means alot of to people and myself. Great song and wish Keith could have held it together for a few more years...peace
actually the songwriter is the legendary Bob McDill, nonetheless, these two are a tremendous combination, especially with Garth Funds producing and "The Players" (Eddie Bayers-drums, Brent Mason -electric and others) as the studio musicians!
Keith was born 22 miles from me, in Sandy Hook Kentucky..wish i was around back then to play some guitar with him..im only 21 but sure do feel like i was a good friend of his, just listening to his music and as much as i play it. Best song before my time...best during my time.
This man is the GREATEST country music poet love song writer of all time next to Doug Stone,,No one has come close to Keith yet,,,and I still play his songs at weddings today,, it s amazing the kds of today even know him.
Keith miss you dude and hope to meet you on the other side
@paulwan12 I can definitely appreciate your admiration of Keith Whitley, he was one in a million, for sure. But I wonder if you're familiar with Townes Van Zandt, Rodney Crowell, Guy Clark, or Steve Earle? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Keith Whitley, but he was, in my opinion, nowhere near the caliber of those I just mentioned. Thanks for the wonderful post, tho. 6 ppl disliked this video, I guess they were justin bieber fans that got lost.
@myself7 That's your opinion, but mine is that he WAS the calibre of those you listed, maby better. AND, who the heck is Townes Van Zandt? I think the people who disliked this video was because of the way it was recorded. I like the video, but not the recording.
@pg1171 you should look up Townes Van Zandt. I'm not being rude, but I think you should do a little research, Townes influenced Keith. Townes wrote 'Pancho and Lefty' which was a huge hit for Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard in '83. As you've said, this is just my opinion, and as equally available for criticism as yours, I didn't write that to be judgmental, just saying, you should listen if u appreciate Country Music. No offense, but you can't compare K.W to someone if yr unfamiliar w. their wrk
@myself7 Why the artist you listed were great artists in their own rights. Keith Whitley was better. he was in the scene a much shorter time (sadly) and accomplished as much if not more than these people did in the 2-5x more time these people had. He is known by people who don't follow country music and his songs are still popular today. Where as previous posts have indicated some of the people you picked even some country music followers asked who they were. Again good artist but not Keith.
@TheOUboy If the people are unaware with the artists I've mentioned, their opinion should be discounted where 'country music' is concerned until a time when their knowledge is deemed sufficient enough to present an intelligent and unbiased opinion.I hope I won't have to say it again: an opinion is just that. While I acknowledge evryones opinion is as valid as mine, I will not be persuaded to base an artists merits solely on someone elses opinion of him.
..and it is no indication of his talents. You cannot list sentimentality as an asset to him when it's source is within yourself. What you mean to say isn't "Keith Whitley was better" what would have been more correct would have been " I like Keith Whitley better". My argument isn't sentiment, or preferential, it's that the artists I've mentioned were/are better composers and musicians. You will never be able to really know music until you put aside schoolyard adoration.
@myself7 Again people not being aware of those artist just goes to show the point people are trying to make to you. Keith was more well known, thus did more for the industry in the short amount of time he was in the scene. No one is trying to change your opinion, however they are stating the real facts of the situation, and whether you agree doesn't change the facts themselves. The artist you picked are good just not great and still have not accomplished what Keith did in a shorter time frame.
a hell of a man, just a good ole boy:( i miss the good ole boys. todays new singers could never hold a flame to people like keith. god bless, god keep
