something to add to the banelings.. you can have attack building set to auto-cast and combine it with burrow to insta-kill a nexus the second it goes down with a pair of burrowed banes in the mineral line
cont... The benifit of this config is that the grid is roughly mirrored on the right side of the controller (my index fingers are much more dexterous and the left side of the grid is most used) also ctrl shift and control groups are together on the right and less used sequences are on the joystick which I find slower to select.
I love using my G13 in SC2 and have a similar layout: i use G7-G4 as QWER, G14-G11 as ASDF, like TTG I use G24-G23 as ZX (the most used grid keys), G19-G17 as CVB, G22-21 completes the grid with TG (T=attack which is very useful but G is almost never used so I thought about giving G21 to a more used sequence). the left side is control groups 1-7 (G1-3, G8-10, G16) . G15 is SHIFT and G20 is CTRL, the stick is up=F1, left=TAB, right=BS, down=SPC, click=ALT. cont...
Been watching for vids for a few weeks now, made me go out and buy the game yesterday, I kinda blow haha I've won only like one game. You think I could send ya a replay of a game of mine and you could comment on how to do better etc? I think it'd be really helpful for me and potentially a cool video idea for you. Great vids keep it up
Probably been mentioned, but you can autocast explode on banelings instead of unburrow, so when they are burrowed, they do the same damage but work better.
@HalogenBurn Well, instead of autocasting the unburrow ability, autocast the baneling explode ability (while burrowed). Make them explode on the marines instantly, without the unborrow time delay.
your strategy for banelings is all good, but if you can manage a little more micro, and manually click it, you can explode the banelings while underground, and it will work like a land mine but you can have the unit in the center of the army when you explode
@HALOCN9A The key in that sentence was "diamond level." I can see your point. Yes, upper league players may have the micro abilities to pull that off. But the auto cast is still extremely effective in the lower leagues, which are the target audience for tutorials like this one.
Yes indeed please continue making your videos, they are very helpful. I'm going back and switching to grid to relearn my hotkeys which is time consuming but your vids are great. Yeah the only one i didn't know about as well was the auto unburrow, and while i agree that you should in general manually unburrow them the auto cast can be helpful when you have your hands full micromanaging a battle or something else across the map. Keep em coming :)
Autocast on banelings for their anti-building attack. It's good if you want to mix a few banelings into an attack into the opponent's base. They'll still default to attacking units - but if none are in range, they'll automatically attack buildings in range, rather than you having to manually target buildings.
Honestly, that should default to autocast, too, imo. It costs nothing, and there is almost never a time that a zerg player won't want creep everywhere he can get it.
Medivacs have autocast, it defaults on and you never really want to turn it off, unless you want them to stay back and don't want them to be lured away by damaged units. In the campaign, if you care about that, the same is true of science vessels and medics.
Mules can be set to autocast repair as well. It can come in handy once in a while, if you have some extra energy, to drop a few on high ground and use them to patch up some air units.
@eburnsdaniel It's like cloak, except most units can't move, and none can attack. They can be seen by detectors, and attacked and killed as normal if they are revealed in this way. Roaches with an upgrade and Infestors can move while burrowed. Infestors can use the Infested Terran spell while burrowed, but not fungal growth or neural parasite. All zerg ground can use it. Even ultralisks.
zealot charge is set to autocast, can be turned off, though there is probably no advantage to doing so, maybe if you had high level apm you could fit charge to when you want it exactly, or to fool the opponent to thinking its not researched.
Wow, I never realized the unburrow could be autocast. I knew all the other ones, but that one new peice just opened up a lot of new possibilities to me. You rock man, love the videos! Keep them coming. (And glad you got your graphics cards replaced.)
Wow didn't know that..... Thanks alot for making this vids they really help me out :)

Zealots charge ability can be activated manually to run to one of your own units. Good for a quick getaway.
jay0h1 1 year ago
Zealot charge can be used to charge on your own units so you can save your Zealots on the front by charging to allied units in the back.
not really auto cast but most poeple only use this ability one sided

I would like to know this as well. Anything that can be used from a hotkey should be, IMO. Better for APM and multitasking.
