  • I've finally finished the entire series - every few days I'd watch one or two episodes with my wife. We both enjoyed every episode. I loved every aspect of it from the cheery theme music to the wonderfully talented actors. Great casting, fantastic writing, production values and beautiful locations. It's the best thing I've ever seen

on television ! Indeed it was sad to see the various characters get written out but soon was overjoyed with the magic of other actors brought to the saga !

  • @b0dhran So much like real life that way! If I go to the pub where I spent time 20 yeasrs ago, there are very few of the same people there, and they are more alive in my memory, than I have been in lives. Change is the only constant. I wonder if I would have loved this as much, if all of the characters had played out to happy ends? Assumpta's death was absolutly the worst, most shocking moment, that I have ever felt from TV. I honestly felt real grief, as though these characters were real!

  • Though i think every single character was perfectly cast, i have to agree with other comments - whoever decided on killing off Assumpta so abruptly made a huge mistake, and i think that began the snowball effect which was the ruin of the show. I had to stop once Ambrose died because it seemed as if there was no one left in BallyK!!

  • Most of what you see on tv is all the same. Some of it is better than others but it's always a real treat when you come across something that stands out. Ballyk was just a show about everyday ppl in a small town. It had it's funny moments and it's dramatic ones but nothing over the top or super intense, it didn't have half naked ppl walking around or anything like that and that's what made it so wonderful.

  • Such a beautiful place!

  • This series had SO much glorious potential but it absolutely bombed very badly. The storylines took horrific turns. Niamh started out lovely and ended up a hateful, horrid, evil shrew! The show couldn't hang onto a single priest character and made them all out to be jokes. In the end, all the major characters were gone and the show was about the minor characters. FAR too many changes were made FAR too often after season one. This show became a joke.

  • They made you hate people you once loved and I resented them for it. That's the best way to describe my thoughts on this series.

  • i thought they went downhill after series 3?

  • Assumpta is simply beautiful, thanks for sharing.

  • I have all the years on DVD and the Ballyk trail. Love them all. Wish we could have some new specials, reunions. :)

  • I'm after the end theme of either ballykissangel or juliet bravo (the one that sounds like the bit with the chior boy in take that-never forget,) anybody know with ending it is or have it? thanx, neil

  • Perhaps an odd question but what is the beautiful yellow flowering shrub that grows so profusely along the roadaside and is shown is so many of the episodes? Native only to Ireland?

  • It is called gorse and can be found native to countryside in both Ireland and the UK. It flowers profusely and has a bit of a sting in the tale, it carries lots of very sharp thorns.

When it is in flower on the hillsides it can look so beautiful.

  • yay! i love bally-k!!!!!

  • i live their!!!! its da best place ever ha ha!! lol

  • lucky you! beautiful!

  • Thanks.

  • Oh!! Thanks!! x

  • Thanks for that post. As a great fan of Ballykissangel it is so nice to see the background to the series.
