Thanks for this, Titli. I have friends who keep trying variations on Atkins, X weeks on protein, then X weeks on carbs... Cabbage soup (windy) or other fads. I'm just reducing portion size, and trying to cook without adding fat where possible, and it seems to be working!
A simple rule for fat-loss exercise I've discovered is to do enough to work up a sweat, but you shouldn't get out of breath, for a minimum of 30 minutes. I got that from 'Weight loss for dummies' - available at the library!

I am actually on my way of gaining weight while going everyday to the fitness center :P And I'm recommended to eat LOTS of protein and to snack, snack and snack all day long! Of course, healthy snacks. No artificial cookies or cakes, but nuts, radish, fruit, tuna, bla, bla, bla :P

Maybe you want to rephrase the "reducing fuel" part. It can give people the impression that if they don't eat they will reach their goal faster. Stick to replacing fatty and sugary foods with healthy foods. Like eating a slice of bread and a massive bowl of salad will keep you from being hungry all day and it still contains a lot less calories than burgers and fries. I know you also said that in your video, but I thought I should point it out again.

The best thing that I find with topics such as losing weight on the diet is to buy more healthy things so that the temptation is not even there, and through cooking your own meals from scratch you have full control of what goes in your own body, and it does not have to be hard soup just needs the wizzy toy XD for example. By giving yourself total control on the bat of purchase and DO NOT starve yourself since that will increase your cravings . Also substituting vegetable oil with olive oil helps

My boyfriend lost a lot of weight over the time of one year by eating two apples in the evening instead of dinner and on weekends he ate a lot of salad. Walking and taking the stairs instead of the elevator helped too.

I am on hyperproteic diet since april! I lost 115 pounds/ 54kg!!! I still have 60 pounds/ 30 kg to go!! I mostly eat fish and vegetables and i run 1 hour per day!! Love u titli!
I need to lose a lot of weight. I used to be 134.2 lbs in July 2008, but over the years I've gained back (thanks to BED) and I'm now at my highest of 176lbs :( I'm 179cm. So I hope I can learn from this and lose weigh healthily thanks to your video unlike the way I lost weight up until July 2008..

if you only eat less food it also means you are getting less nutrients (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes, etc) so basically you will shed fat due to lack of calories BUT your organs will also wither away due to lack of many nutrients. try best to eat more nutrition dense foods. exercise is essential so that you don't have to starve yourself into malnutrition
@werewasyo True, if you have already been eating just the amount of food to give you the nutrients that you need. Note, though, that most people who are overweight overeat, and the amounts of food we're talking about contains enough nutrients for tree or four people. Surely, a bigger body need more energy, but the amount of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in lesser portions will be more than enough to keep you healthy unless you start undereating markedly.

I saw a great healthy fish pie recipe by Phil Vickery this morning, he thickened the milk liquor with a touch of cornflour instead of using a roux, and combined the mashed potatoes with mashed root veg - your recipes are such a hit because they are do-able, lets have some healthy low fat ones for the whole family. :)
I don't agree with some of the advice your giving here Titli. Eating less food, is not the direct way to weight loss. Actually a lot of people aren't eating enough food. Allthough cutting the amount of food your eating, can be a good idea, you should replace two big meals with four (or more) smaller meals. High protein diets with loots of vegetables and full grain products are a good way forward. Snacking can be vital on your way to weight loss, but replace sugar and fat, with healthy choices
The only change I'd make to this is that it's ok to snack between meals, as long as it's not the grub in the picture, maybe fresh produce. In fact eating less fuel more often, five or six times a day, will make you less hungry and reduce the urge to consume a lot at the main meals.
I wouldn't suggest replacing a main meal with only fruit or veg, unless it's dinner, always the smallest meal of the day, and early in the evening, so there's less to digest during sleep.
Titli, although most of us know it's this simple to lose weight (fuel in-fuel out=weightloss), your video is a great reminder of this. Thanks so much for the video. I loved it! I have yet to combine both exercise and dieting together but I've lost 40lbs through diet alone so far. I eat 5 small meals daily and losing 1 and a half pound ever week. So far so good, really hope to reach my first goal by October 2012! Wish me luck!

The best thing that I find with topics such as losing weight on the diet is to buy more healthy things so that the temptation is not even there, and through cooking your own meals from scratch you have full control of what goes in your own body, and it does not have to be hard soup just needs the wizzy toy XD for example. By giving yourself total control on the bat of purchase and DO NOT starve yourself since that will increase your cravings . Also substituting vegetable oil with olive oil helps

My boyfriend lost a lot of weight over the time of one year by eating two apples in the evening instead of dinner and on weekends he ate a lot of salad. Walking and taking the stairs instead of the elevator helped too.

I am on hyperproteic diet since april! I lost 115 pounds/ 54kg!!! I still have 60 pounds/ 30 kg to go!! I mostly eat fish and vegetables and i run 1 hour per day!! Love u titli!

I need to lose a lot of weight. I used to be 134.2 lbs in July 2008, but over the years I've gained back (thanks to BED) and I'm now at my highest of 176lbs :( I'm 179cm. So I hope I can learn from this and lose weigh healthily thanks to your video unlike the way I lost weight up until July 2008..

A "losing weight" video upload ... after 289 mouth watering - high calorie - irresisitble - "generous-on-sugar-carb-ghee" - recipe uploads... :):) yet, definitely merits a big applause and thanks. I am working now on "pruning" my belly; timely fresh home made food, smaller portions seems to be quite helpful. I am however still unable to get my ass to the gym... even the thought is somewhat depressing - i know.. :(

if you only eat less food it also means you are getting less nutrients (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes, etc) so basically you will shed fat due to lack of calories BUT your organs will also wither away due to lack of many nutrients. try best to eat more nutrition dense foods. exercise is essential so that you don't have to starve yourself into malnutrition

@werewasyo True, if you have already been eating just the amount of food to give you the nutrients that you need. Note, though, that most people who are overweight overeat, and the amounts of food we're talking about contains enough nutrients for tree or four people. Surely, a bigger body need more energy, but the amount of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in lesser portions will be more than enough to keep you healthy unless you start undereating markedly.

great video titli! please follow up with some healthy portion controlled meals/snacks. I saw a great healthy fish pie recipe by Phil Vickery this morning, he thickened the milk liquor with a touch of cornflour instead of using a roux, and combined the mashed potatoes with mashed root veg - your recipes are such a hit because they are do-able, lets have some healthy low fat ones for the whole family. :)

I don't agree with some of the advice your giving here Titli. Eating less food, is not the direct way to weight loss. Actually a lot of people aren't eating enough food. Allthough cutting the amount of food your eating, can be a good idea, you should replace two big meals with four (or more) smaller meals. High protein diets with loots of vegetables and full grain products are a good way forward. Snacking can be vital on your way to weight loss, but replace sugar and fat, with healthy choices

The only change I'd make to this is that it's ok to snack between meals, as long as it's not the grub in the picture, maybe fresh produce. In fact eating less fuel more often, five or six times a day, will make you less hungry and reduce the urge to consume a lot at the main meals.
I wouldn't suggest replacing a main meal with only fruit or veg, unless it's dinner, always the smallest meal of the day, and early in the evening, so there's less to digest during sleep.

Also, prefer olive oil to butter, or none if it can taste ok, remove sugar, sometimes half skimmed milk is sweet naturally (I'm used to drinking any hot drink with no sugar now and it feels like there is sugar in it)

I have yet to combine both exercise and dieting together but I've lost 40lbs through diet alone so far. I eat 5 small meals daily and losing 1 and a half pound ever week. So far so good, really hope to reach my first goal by October 2012! Wish me luck!
