  • FF:Mystic Quest wasn't the best RPG but the music just plain rocks! I ordered the OST out of the back of Gamefan years ago and still have it.

  • Bow down to the Sony SPC700. Shame it had to work with the molasses drenched 65816. :c

  • Like a boss!

  • This song makes me speed whenever I get on the highway

  • @thel0lephant Dude I jump bridges to this song even if they aren't in my way.

  • now THIS is a battle theme that will wake you up even if you've been playing for days straight lv grinding

  • This is the COOLEST boss theme of FINAL FANTASY i ever HEARD! Do not make a REMIX for this song because it is 1001% Cool!

  • Man they just don't make boss themes like they used to.

  • @evilpika13 pownahyz

  • GIANT FEEST!

  • HOLY CRAP I MUST PLAY THIS GAME AGAIN!!!

  • As much as I like rubberfruit and his vids, ALL his vids end up making his fans go to the respective musics and comment about random quotes from his vids and how he brought them to that site etc. etc.

  • One word:

    RubberFruit

  • Thumbs up if Rubberfruit brought you here!

  • @UNowentheSandvich don't start with this "xxx brought me here" shit, seriously. just enjoy the song and don't make comments like this.

  • @MetaKiteZX U mad bro? Lol jk-ing. I actually love this song I just noticed that a whole bunch of people had made quotes from his video in here.

  • @MetaKiteZX Mystic Quest brought me here.

  • BOOM!

    GIANT FEEST!

  • Turnbasedcombat.exe has stopped working

  • All I hear in my head is Tristam's bombs exploding on that damn dinosaur while it's playing.

  • Could imagine this game being remade.

And, this song being like Eternity of Blue Dragon w/ Peter Gillan, and everything.

  • Was a kid when I played this game. Was my very first RPG. Kicked ass. Loved it. And this theme. DAMN ! I MEAN, DAAAAAMMMMMNNNNN !

  • Wow i was amazed by this song when i found it elsewhere, came to see if Darky had it and sure enough he never fails ;)

Not sure how i missed it on the list before -.-

  • I remember as a kid I would get to the boss and just let it sit on the menu screen for a while so I could enjoy the kick ass music. The final boss song too.

  • 3 people are bosses

  • Yeah! Kickass!

  • @Franz3747 hcbaily quote O.o

  • Why they would release a simplified RPG to begin with boggles me the West has shown time and time again they're far, far more interested in the more technical, gameplay heavy RPGs.

I mean for Christ sakes, the entire JRPG genre is based around a dumbed down Ultima clone.

  • @TruthSpreading

Likewise, Ultima is based on the D&D formula. Regardless, this game was considered a "Starter" for the US market to get them into RPG's.

I loved my RPG's but this is also a great game none-the-less. Very simplistic in every sense of the word but that doesn't mean it's a bad game.

  • @TruthSpreading it was dumbed down to try and get kids interested in rpgs and the ff franchise, it was aimed at kids as adults of that time weren't that interested in rpg games

  • @Krunge333 Was rocking this game at 6 years old back in the 90's haha. It was pretty much my first RPG and got me hooked on them since. They pulled a good one with this game :)

  • someone do a fist of the north star or DBZ amv with this stat

  • I actually like the regular battle music better... best version of FF battle music.

  • Megaman X and Sonic the hedgehog 3 have nothing on this :D

  • This is so much like the Treasure of the Rudras music.

It is a good thing. Rockin'.

  • this boss theme is so epic... ^^

  • listening to this makes me want to kick somones face in! But I will just have to settle for shooting zombies in the face, that what video game soundtrack agression does to you.

  • I could listen to this loop for hours and it still would be awesome.

  • one of the best games i´ve ever played

  • This song is by far the best part of the game

  • this was such a fun game. with an amazing soundtrack

  • just awesome

  • Yeah, this is the first Final Fantasy theme that made me wanna rock out!

  • This was an example of a very simple game with an awesome soundtrack, one of the best of the SNES era!

  • I never got around to playing this. I really think I must...

  • I love this game, even more than fanboy fantasy VII

  • To me this track has sort of a "Wanderer's of Y's" feel to it.

  • Awesome! Sometimes as I played this game I would get disappointed when I saw the boss weaken. I'd be like "Already? I was just getting into the music!" :)

  • About time you put this one up ;-P

  • agreed, thanks for broadening my point =)

  • kay, comment that replied to got deleted, ignore that. Great upload btw =)

  • I know it's FF...

But am I the only one who also gets a strong vibe of MMX from this?!

  • something forced me to favorite this video........but nothing forced me to 5 star this video.............exept for the compelling AWESOMNESS THAT IS SUPRADARKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh man talk about trash metal.

  • Sounds fantastic!

  • Once again I say, good music, not-so-good game.

  • Rokrok!!!

  • Got to admit I'm kinda suprised on the high tempo of this song in a FF game. O.o

  • YESSS!!! gah..love this game soo much!!

    finally it's up! lol xD

    -LokiHeart

    -Happytreefriendsfan3

  • sorry cuz i'm so used to forums where i do lil signatures lol..it's a habit of mine.

  • this game's music is SO BALLER

  • YES!!! i remember seeing this on the back of an old comic book.

  • This song was pretty intense when fighting the big bird in that stupid tower.

  • I was waiting for this one to show up!

  • as was i lol

  • Sounds like a theme you would hear in a space shooter mixed with the quality level of the SNES Shin Megami Tensei games' soundtracks. That's a good thing.

  • Everytime you've chosen a song from FFMQ, I've always hoped it'd be this song. That waiting is over. This song is so many levels of awesome.

  • This is my favorite song you've put up in some time. Good job sir.

  • YES!

I prefer this over a couple regular FF Boss themes :)

  • Such a good song. The entire soundtrack for the game is great. Too many people complain about the game itself, but it isn't really that bad. Not hard, but far from terrible.

  • I know this song! (and I haven't even played a single Final Fantasy game)

  • sounds cool^^

  • Wait, what's with the title card? "Japanese Text (I assume that's Japanese for Final Fantasy) USA"? And it sort of looks like an American flag? What the...?

  • Final Fantasy Mystic Quest was created in the United States to get american's into the RPG genre. It was then ported to Japan where it was known as Final Fantasy USA - Mystic Quest. It also has the american colors because it WAS made over here, just like Super Mario Bros 2 is also know over there with a USA in the title.

  • Just a small correction: This game was made in Japan, not in the US. However, it was geared towards the NA market. The first and only game to be made by Square in the US is Secret of Evermore.

  • And it was made totally easy because they thought we are too stupid to play RPGs ^^

  • i mean we already had Gragon quest and Final fantasy and ultima... they thid we did not know what an rpg Was? Man they was stupid

  • o i meant Dragon quest..i hate typos.

  • I know. I noticed the error after I posted. I wish Youtube at least had an "edit" button. I felt stupid making that error ;x

  • We know what rpg was back in th e1980's this should not be a reason to get into rpgs. Rpg101 yes but only those who did not know what rpg was. The company was just plain Ignoorant for think that way.

  • @Valis77

Meh, Square wasn't the only company to pull the ¨USA is full of noobs¨ mindset back then. Keep in mind that Nintendo made a similar move that gave rise to Super mario bros 2, which by no means sucked =)

I understand what you mean though

  • i see

  • Not so much noobs as we complain about anything that is too hard and that mean less people buying and less money to them for their work to produce and distribute and advertise it.

  • @Quez256

interestingly i found our version harder then the original one. i beat the lost levels on the all-star collection but i can't get past the 4th world in the us/european version

  • very epic song

  • I can just imagine that when Japan made this game, they thought that Americans like their rock music, so they'd put that in this game. I remember as a kid thinking something along the lines of, "This is just a dumbed down RPG for Americans. How dare you mock us!" And then, "Damn, this game is actually good, and the music they wrote to mock us kicks ass!"

  • @Namingway Just so everyone knows, this game was *not* made in Japan. It was made in the US and later ported to Japan after fan outcry. It was designed as a helper game, to get people introduced to RPGs. It failed. Its a silly, cute little game and fun for a few hours of interesting mechanics.

It somehow, inexplicably, ended up with one of the best sound tracks of all time. And so few have ever heard it. Give me this before Eyes on Me any day

  • @Chardansearavitriol A quote from the very wikipedia article that you probably got your information, "Although designed by one of Square's development teams in Japan, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest was specifically geared for the U.S. market." Not that I blame you or anything. The TOP of that wikipedia article might lead one to believe it was made in America, because it was released here first, then later brought to Japan.

  • @Namingway you were one dorky kid, the only thing i thought about any game was: OMFG THIS ROOOOOOOOXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • @MrBlaziner Well, I may have been older than you when this game came out. I was already a fan of RPGs and heard about this game before it came out thanks to Nintendo Power. Also, it's not like those are exact quotes from myself as a kid. I had just heard that it was a dumbed down RPG for Americans. And the game turned out to be good anyway. Because Square could do no wrong in those days.

  • @Namingway This is an american made game that they created cause they thought that the unreleased FF titles at the time where to hard. The music in this game however is amazing!!

  • @metaldave08096 believe it or not it was actually made completely in Japan

  • @Namingway

funny how that shit works out.

  • @Namingway

you do know that this was a final fantasy made by americans in englkish first and then got turned japanese... which fully explains the metal music and mostly lacking story line

  • @zachorios Actually, this game was developed entirely in Japan. The American version just came out first.

  • @Namingway

You kidding? Japanese people love rock music, lol.
