And, yes, it's KIND OF a self portrait. I wish I were as attractive as THAT RocketGirl, but she WAS modeled after me, in that at the time my hair was colored exactly as you see, and her body shape isn't too far of from my own. Also "RocketGirl" IS my nickname (and you DON'T want to know how I got it!).

And it's no self-deprecation to say I'm not that attractive; few real people ARE. I'm just sayin'... ;)

I am a profoundly cynical person, but she has shown me reason(s) to have some hope for the future. She has always reflexively questioned the validity of any given assertion, and her mom & I always give her very straight answers.

She's wonderfully perceptive, and the other day, she bragged after what she perceived as a rather mundane set of experiments in class, "I've been doing better science than that for years!" As you might imagine, we are extremely proud of her.
