This has got to be an alumni Corp or something of the sort. No wonder dci lost so much popularity. This is what the public is seeing. It's a shame dci is fading and that many high school field bands are converting to track and parade bands instead of keeping it how it should be. There is no fun or education in marching around in a block playing music that anyone can play.
@JoshyBoBoshy Ha! I love watching this video (and reading the comments) every now and then. That's my mom (and dad) amused that I'm actually wearing earplugs for once! Hilarious...I never noticed that.
In my defense, I was the center snare and busy listening to everything BUT the snares while marching the show. As for parades...eh, you don't have to hear ANYTHING in parades... ;-)
I understand that this is just a parade but that doesnt mean half ass it. They are lookin sloppy right here and the horns are just souding tired. How can you sound this winded when you've built you chops up from pre tour all days?
That can't be the cavaliers. First, the drumline is REALLY sloppy, both in playing and marching. And second, at 1:45 their bass 4 points to someone in the crowd. And third, the Cavaliers have 5 basses, not 4.
From what I remember seeing/hearing a couple of years ago, they are a bit more laid back in parades. For example, towards the end of Stars and Stripes the drumline played the rhythm of the Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin. It was pretty amusing!
If anything, the cavaliers would have been coming off a first place year and I am pretty sure that a top level corp such as the cavaliers would care a lot about their image. And even the laxness doesn't explain the lack of a bass five. And the tenor tuning is also wrong for 2004.
As of that point in time, the championship hadn't been decided as it was mid-season and they had come off a top 2 finish in 2003.
I could ask the section leader from that year to see if he can recall this particular parade if you're absolutely wanting to know the situation surrounding the missing bass 5. I do know, however, that the tuning of the tenors did vary throughout the season, generally going from the higher pitches at the start of the season to the timbale-like pitches at the end.
as someone in drum corps that has marched in the annual 4th of july parades i can confidently tell you this is the cavaliers. Parades for drum corps are times to relax and enjoy...not rehearsing lol. Also what gave it away was the pit member wearing the Cavalier member jacket passing out water : )
rofl! Cavs dont parade march. someone tried really hard to look like them. 1:33 you can clearly see a short fatty chick with a big ass.. lol last time i remembered, it was an all male corps. buahhaha, nice try tho.
For those in the know, usually corps will do 3, 4, or 5 Chicago area parades on the 4th of July. They get cash for each one they do so this may be their 3rd or 4th parade of the day.
i bet the people who don't know what dci is was probably thinkin "Wow! this is a GREAT highschool!"
