Those unfamiliar with this song can see the original version by the Dave Brubeck Quartet from the 1959 album titled, "Take Five"__ A difficult song, played very well here.
excellent playing,I thoroughly enjoyed this!! Ive not long bought an arrangement of this that we are currently adapting for a 10 piece ensemble.....great piece of music...
VERY nice! I am just learning this song and I do it in bits, and each time I get to a new bit I stop and stare and my mouth drops and I say "there is no fucking way I can play this OH MY GOD" but then I can do it.. so I hope I can play it as effortlessly as you seem to able to one day.
One comment - yes your dynamics weren't really happening. The parts where the sax plays the melody are supposed to be a lot softer
Constructive criticism? Probably gets that from his teacher. I enjoyed it. If I were him though, I'd get a digital drum machine and track the drums for this song and let it help out in rehearsals. It's not easy to keep the drive up with all those time sig. changes. It's a hard song that makes you look like a great musician when you finally, master it.
Anyone know where to find sheet music for this? I'm just too lazy to figure it out by ear :P I love the grand piano and the bench! I wish I had such at home! And it's great that there is a good musician to use them :) I really like your playing. There are minor mistakes but you feel the music which is more important. The other thing is just practice and concentration ;)
Watch the beat! Maybe it would be better slower but more accurate...
Apart from that, I liked your version, especially the way you handle the transitions between the "rondo" and the blues, which I still fail to achieve!
Some people just can't be positive about a fabulous performance! I've heard many versions of this since growing up in a Brubeck household, and this is a great one!
The ending was a little weird, but overall I think this is probobly among the top 5 versions of this song on all of YouTube. I understand how difficult this song is technically, so I have to say great job =)
Great performance, but your improv sections could use a little work, the timing is a little jerky and would be nice to see a little more happening in your elft hand
@JayLovePlaysGuitar "Dont" should be "Don't" and "its" should be "it's". Also, that first comma should be a period. Sorry if that makes me a smart ass, but all I did was go to school.
@serfox1 Timing is jerky because of the awkward key measure in the song. It is mostly done in 9/8 and 5/4 with a very few small parts (I think four measures in the whole song) done in a regular 2/4 key measure. It's a difficult piece to perform.
@TheISProductions No doubt, but I was mainly commenting on the mid section, the actual piece is very well performed. It is very difficult. I have trouble with the thirds in the right hand in the first secion, playing the main melody and harmony.
um who can unlike this?

This guy's bridge section is very good compared to mine, but for a slightly bluesy improv section watch the middle of mine.

Good, but I think it's just a little repetitive... However, also I play the piano n' I know improvisin' it's difficult sometimes.

Lol... It's a Rondo... It is supposed to be repetitive...

Yes, but an improvisation can be also not repetitive...

Muito bom!
(Very nice!)
Sobre os compassos de improvisação, talvez estes precisem de um pouco mais de acompanhamentos com voicings e menos escalas pentatônicas.
(About the improvisation bars, maybe it need more voicings chords and less pentatonic scales.)
Parabéns pela performance!
(Congratulations for the performance!)
