If by "Southeast Asians" you meant Asians in general, then no, the vast majority of Asians in this country are actually legal. I think you are thinking Hispanics. You simply cannot cross the Pacific the same way you cross the Rio Grande. Unless you are a stowaway or visa over-stayer, but visa over-stayers come from all over, not just Asia, and stowaways are easily caught.
@Brandybey Probably, but I haven't been able to get any kind of response from South African Tourism. The United States controls a good 90% of the world's ad creation market.
I love South Africa, I've visited it many, many times and still want to see more. There is the risk of the crime but you just need to be careful , don't judge the country just because of the crime overall South Africa is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
@liamrokocoko You just have to be careful and make sure that you frequent tourist friendly and safe locations. Never travel where you don't know exactly where you are going how you're getting there. Also, make sure you have a reputable guide when venturing into Townships and other locations you don't know.
@liamrokocoko I FEEL YOU SHOULD NOT FEEL SORRY FOR HIM, AS THIS MAN... SHRIEN DEWANI ACTUALLY MURDERED HIS OWN WIFE ON HIS HONEYMOON. SO FOLLOW THE NEWS PLEASE. He has been extradited from the UK back to South Africa where he will now face charges of murder and life imprisonment. I AM A PORTUGUESE CITIZEN LIVING IN SOUTH AFRICA AND WOULD LIKE TO SAY IN MY 15 YEARS YEAR I HAVE NOT PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED CRIME.
According to a survey for the period 1998–2000 compiled by the UN, South Africa was ranked first for rapes per capita One in three of the 4,000 women questioned by the Community of Information, Empowerment and Transparency said they had been raped in the past year. More than 25 per cent of South African men questioned in a survey published by the Medical Research Council (MRC) in June 2009 admitted to raping someone; of those, nearly half said they had raped more than one person.
@AUSSIENugget8 What do you mean? America and Canada get most of South Africa's productive citizens. Black South Africans don't come to the US, all of the whites come.
It's called white flight and Americans do the exact same thing. Except their country is nice and big so they don't need to leave the USA entirely to get away from the black people you pretend to treat with oh so much acceptance and tolerance.
@WSWarthog The black non-hispanic and white non-hispanic racial groups in the US are not growing proportions of US demography. Much racial/cultural animosity in the United States is directed at Muslims, Hispanics, and Southeast Asians, the latter two whom are growing rapidly and large numbers of whom are illegal. We don't really want any more black Africans in the US. The Afrikaners do just fine.
fuck me... nice ad but what's the deal with "It's Possible" what is!!? havin a good time!!? Don't get me wrong... I'm South African, grew up in the Eastern Cape, but these bloody ads, I'm proudly South African blah blah blah!
not sure exactly but it looks like somewhere in the North West Province or Limpopo province. The landscape looks like that in the Northen part of the Country
lmd2901: This tourism commercial is deceptive. S. Africa is one of the most dangerous places in the world. 33% of females are raped within one year. 25% of S. African males have raped at least once. S. Africa has the highest incidences of child and baby rape. Many Africans believe that they can get rid of the AIDS virus by raping virgins.
S. Africa has the second highest murder rates in the world, and they have the highest rates of rape. Robberies and carjackings happen frequently to tourists.
@TranCendenZ wow i dont know which part of SA u 4rm....bt wer i'm 4rm, der are no such thingz as ''raping a virgin will eliminate AIDS'' or rapist...bt i will admit on robberies and carjackings. Still i dont get y u gotta exaggerate about dis...dis iz getting worse everywhere even here in UK stabbing and raping rates are going hire every year....so dont hate dude.
@purefaithfull: The information from my previous comment is from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, NationMaster, Childline (a child support group), MRC (Medical Research Council), The Guardian, and BBC News. They are factual statistics, and you can do a simple Google search to verify these facts. I can e-mail you further info if you request. Don't be misled by what you see in a tourism commercial.
I'm educating people about the risks of traveling to South Africa because I care.

They neglected a few numbers in this ad. How about '55 violent murdets a day' or '2nd in the world for murder per capita' or 'First for Gun violence' or 'Number One in Rape' or '5% conviction rate' or 'Number One for AIDS' and so on and so forth. Well produced add but misleading as hell. Come to South Africa and become a victim is what they SHOULD be warning tourists!
Yea it's a particular version of the anthem. I even sent an email to the tourism board to find out who sings in the ad and they couldn't give an answer. I really wish I could find it. It's lovely
