@tool5150 Disagree. Lance and his cadence enabled him to launch searing attacks and open devastating gaps on rad gradients which psychologically crushed Ulle. I love Ulle and his style. Lance too.
he deserved 2003 tour...unluckily he had flu during the Alpe d'Huez stage and there was rain in the last. however it's great to se himduring a time trial...absolutely perfect. great ulle
he was the best rider that year. the weather in the last timetrial cost him the tour. he could have put 1:30 into armstrong but he couldn't ride aggresivley like he usually did in tt due to the weather. when he fell that was the worst cycling momemt for me. that must have been horrible for him to go through.
Actually, Lance admitted more than once that Jan was the most naturally-talented cyclist ever. Jan just did not work on it enough. (Well, no one was as obsessed about winning than Lance Armstrong...) Lance also said that if Jan could keep his weight down during the winter, and trained more (such as holding recon training or setting up training camps with his teammates), Jan would have won more than just 1 tour, but three or four, clearnly.
