I could do the work for this guy for $500 and he would be saving $100 by watching me do it? Due-ing your math means sleeping is a very expensive habit, as is watching TV, surfing the internet, going to the mall, playing with your kids... And I assume you have a cleaning lady who works for $10 an hour? Saving you HALF the cost of your time to clean.
Thinset is used to fill the voids in the floor as wood has high and low spots. It is not used as a method to adhere the board to the floor. Construction adhesive as a substitute for thinset is bad.
