Most of sufi rituals and ideology is mainly inspired by Buddhism and shamanic. Mainly it was the Turks who brought sufism even some claim that it is from prophets time but arab muslims reject this.
@GrandmasterTigerfist :) Compare all to Sufism, you'd find your conclusion to be wrong! :) Sufism is a misnomer! The Prophet(pbuh) taught this science! Its was first called "Ihsan", then "Tassawaf", n now many know it as "Sufism". Its the core of Islam. All of the greatest Islamic scholars were Sufis. They weren't scholars because they were Sufis but they were Sufis because they were scholars! "Zikr" is the basic practice, again its the core of Islam! There is a lot! If you want 2 discuss...
@GrandmasterTigerfist Buddha through his Mujahida, unlocked only a tiny part of Tassawaf ie "Tazkia e Nafs". Shamanism isn't about God, its major field is "Spirit", whereas Tassawaf is the "Batin(concealed)" part of Islam! Its all about One God! On the other hand, Buddhism is "Atheism", I know that it says "One may believe in God, if they want to but its irrelevant". I understand why Buddha got stuck there! :) I love Buddha for what he was! :)
You see Buddhism thru what west and Dalai lama describe the Buddhism you see on media is not true Buddhism but secterian Buddhism. True Ortodox Buddhism acknowledge existence of God so it cannot be regarded as athiesm. Much of the sufi doctorine as i have heard from many sufi scholars origins from Buddhist teachings. Sufism being core islam is a disputed matter between different muslim sects.
@GrandmasterTigerfist :) This is a very vast subject! Like I said, Buddhism is stuck in "Tazkia e Nafs", alone. We know it from Qur'an, that its the greatest Jihad. People also are happy to carry weapons n kill for the smaller Jihad, that may or may not be fully justified, many case may be disputed, but many don't go for the greater Jihad! Its the matter of understanding!
Its not just the "existence of God", its about the "do n don't, respect n insolence.." > The standard!
@GrandmasterTigerfist There are no sects, in Islam. People may create whatever they want. Sectarianism is forbidden in Islam, with a prophecy that there would be 73 sects! :) Many of the disputes are just irrelevant! Its as important as Sharia!
Sharia is the apparent, Tassawaf is the hidden. Sharia is the law, that judges by appearance, but God in the Qur'an says "You are not going to be judged by your actions alone, but by the intension behind the deeds". Both Zahir n Batin.
@GrandmasterTigerfist In essence, to God Batin(Tassawaf) is more important than the Zaahir(Shaira). The Zaahir is to be discussed, debated, through appearance, but "Baatin" is to be experienced n when their is a confusion through the journey, Sharia is always there. Tassawaf deals with the heart! Its to purify the heart, so that religion can be made "sincere" to God. Its much more difficult than Sharia! Its an individual goal! :)
@GrandmasterTigerfist I don't say that Buddha got stuck there because of "Atheism" :) I said, I understand, why he got stuck! :) Messenger of God n Saint are two different things. Saint at his peak, cannot touch the beginning of Prophethood! Prophets bring complete laws n for their guidance, God takes all responsibility but "Caution" is always there for Saints! There are misleading forces, as well. One may b trying to Please God, but he may be earning displeasure because of the discipline that..
BUddha was no less than a prophet he was a choosen one to bring message of truth to mankind. His destiny was written by God and he was to become the enlightened one and all this was already decided. Even if some say Buddha was a saint his teachings have even then showed to be most succsesful than prophethood based faiths.
@GrandmasterTigerfist My friend! I'm not in a winning or losing debate thing! I have studied Chinese history, n I know of China today! :) The "Ultimate Truth" is the most beautiful thing n I'm just a seeker! :) Follow what suits you best!
