This songs got some pretty hard language for a tune from 1973 ( pre punk and rap ). I mean "whore" and "dicks" ( though I know "dicks", as it's used here, really means detectives, but still ... .. ).
I agree, this is a great album. I wonder if this has Dick Wagner on it? My impression is that Buxton couldn't play at this point. On this tour I believe his amps were turned down and there was a ghost guitar player backstage.
@Explorer766...in the Bob Greene (Chicago Tribune journalist) book, who was given unprecedented access to the band, he had stated that Dick was brought in because Glenn was a mess, and yes, on tour he wasn't even plugged in...either the band was in denial or they didn't want to make waves...unlike GnR or Pearl Jam who just got rid of their respective druggies...
Greene's book has been sighted as a catalyst for the band's breakup...but who really knows?...
@SolarTiger Well, I just got done reading Alice Coopers auto-biography and if you want to believe his account, the trump factor is that the other members of the band simply did not want to take the financial risk on the next stage show extravaganza. Alice wanted to reinvest all the bands assets in the biggest rock stage show of all-time and they didn't want to pony up the cash. Alice insists he put his personal worth on the line for that tour. Hmmm.
Neal said in a recent interview: "The truth to the story is we all took a year off so we could all do solo albums. WB was suing us for a new record but after Alice found success w/ “Welcome to my Nightmare” he continued on his own. Some of the guys in the band wanted to sue him as we owned the band name equally. We worked out an agreement & he wasn’t about to come back. He finished up our contract w/ WB w/ “Go to Hell" & the next album he did. He didn’t come back. He renegged on the deal."
@Explorer766 Also in a 2010 interview, Dennis talked about the contractual issues w/ WB, but they already had something in their contract for the band to do a "Welcome To My Nightmare" soundtrack with another record company (that's what WTMN was with the TV). Dennis said they had already had internal issues w/ Muscle Of Love. So happens Alice's (Vince's) solo album did great. Never heard about the not wanting to pony up the cash; it was Dennis who really created their early show stuff.
@SolarTiger Seriously doubt that Greene's book had anything to do with it. There are recent interviews w/ Dennis and Neal and they were already having internal problems and everyone was doing solo albums. Dennis said things got worse with this Muscle Of Love album, people were telling them how to play (Neal didn't play the drums on all these tracks - Allan Schwartzberg did b/c Neal wasn't up to snuff at that moment.) There was an issue w/ Warner Brothers, etc.
Such a great album. The oil stain always cracks me up. One of the best. This song is great, (Teenage Lament 1974 is cool too). I just don't get why this isn't as popular as other Alice Cooper albums.
hahahaa!!!! man when this came out we were all laughing that so many kids were being penetrated by the songs. muscle of love is a great fucking album.

Funny thing is that Alice is singing as a CHICK in this song here! Well, I guess he did already have the female name, so then ... .. .

One of their best. Also, just about the best example of packaging ever; even compared to Billion Dollar Babies, School's Out and From The Inside.
