  • i remember my dad playing this when my brother and me (twins) were like six before we would go to sleep. it's good to have a deadhead for a dad because you were introduced to good music at a young age. ahh the memories.

  • No wait! So sorry!

I played it in to windows xD

    This song is awesome :P

  • The fuck have you done to the file <.<

It sounds like two files is played together :@

  • This is one of their only good songs.

  • @modsoul1 what the fuck is wrong with you? Grateful dead is an amazing band so fuck off

  • @modsoul1 -_- lmao

  • This is a beautiful song!

  • Dead is great as my feelings is so good feel cold inside sometimes..

  • @cordfluidnevoie ur high

  • @mrguitarmanguy12 ur right

  • very short but powerful ballad from the Dead....

  • sounds like "Sweep of a feather"...and later on it sounds like "she came dead, she looked, and at last went away" mabye. i think...

  • great song touch of Grey is my favorite :)

  • @slayersave9 touch of grey is overplayed. good song, but no where near one of their best. just the most famous, one of the few radio hits of theirs.

  • I agree with what your saying, the only reason I "disagree" is because I knew that song at such a young age,it reminds me of my child hood. So happy. I know what you're saying though

  • first ime i heard this but i love the voice it reminds me of planet caravan by blacksabbath

  • this song is so beautiful, everything could be is right if everyone could hear this song the way its meant to be heard.

  • Thank you.

  • By far my favorite Dead song. So damn beautiful!!

  • What album was this song on? I don't want the greatest hits i want the real album.

  • @x21gunsx4everx

    its the auxoxooaooaocoxococoocmoa album

  • @x21gunsx4everx its from aoxomoxoa

  • @indyrae16 thanks

  • no may come here since no one may stay vote up for jerry this song moves us all and lets us know that love is all around

  • no may come here cause no one may stay vote up for jerry this song moves us all and lets us know that love is all around

  • "Her boots were of leather, a breath of cologne..."

    Maybe.

  • @2020wonderbred you are right, but w/o the "her." the first line of the song is "boots were of leather, a breath of cologne..."

and the first line in the second verse is: " She came dead and she went, and at last went away" which is only a minor mistake, probably a typo.

  • does it sound to anyone else like the first line is "Scent of heather"?

  • @keelay9003 Not when you've got good acid, which has been pretty difficult for coming on a decade now...

But yes, I agree mushrooms are better all around, they are all natural, easy to grow, and more "spiritual".

  • @keelay9003 really because with how many hateful comments you put on other vidoes i'd say your nothing more then a immature brat that likes to spread hate

  • i wish they would have dragged the ending on for at least another minute.....real chill.

  • best song ever?

  • the vocalls are so chilling. i love it

  • love it

  • @RushFanWalle Deadheads will LONG outlive the dead and that's really all you can hope for-to bring people together as long as humanity exists.

  • i got a cold, shaking shiver listening.. way too short

  • @silent1death3 can you freaking imagine what a rush you'd get on lsd? i swear the grateful dead's music was designed for hallucinogens...

  • @Xirokami i agree:] completely and utterly meant for when your high, ya know? it makes you think

  • @silent1death3 well lets raise a bowl to that man!

  • @Xirokami

Your totally right about that, first time i heard the dead on lsd, i went crazy, and never stopped listening to the dead ever since. Greatest band that existed ever, from my point of veiw.

  • @Xirokami i must agree. i want to try it but i have to admit the people i know are more into pot and pills. :/ love pot, don't do pills.

  • i missed good old days of music

tbh i do like the new stuff but i prefer the old stuff

  • With so very few words, it says so very much. Robert Hunter's words are eternal

  • Beautiful song, thanks for this great transfer, it sounds great! I'm gonna search around for Mountains Of The Moon

  • get high to this album its awesome

  • @punkadelicfuzz I'll take you up on that one :)

  • everytime i listen to this song..........(tears come by).i think about my wife.........rosemary.........may godbless her, and be with her in the glory and heaven!!! (miss you!!!(

  • Once again let the tears fly.

  • By far my fav Grateful Dead song...so effin trippy

  • I love this song, but i wish it were longer, but that's alright, i'll just keep listening to it over and over :)

  • @smoke420allthetime hahaha, me too!! always gotta hear it at least twice.

  • More of a performance of poem than of song; if you can concieve that in your mind.

  • @pcburgh01 i can, cos the Moody Blues did it all the time.

  • Here JERRY SING THROUGH THE 'LESLIE SPEAKER' (like JOHN LENNON in 1966 ''Tomorrow Never Knows)

  • The similarity to Cream's "Passing the Time ' summer 68,is a bit too close to be mere coincidence

  • Comment removed

  • probably my second fave GD song

  • Comment removed

  • Gotta love the vocals in this.. So trippy.

  • beautiful beautiful beautiful song.

her mirror was a window, she sat quite alone<3

  • "No one can come here, since no one can stay". Spooky or what? The Grateful Dead, a conduit to alternative thinking.

  • Gives me the chills!

  • My favorite grateful dead song (:

  • I've only known about them for like an hour but I already love them

  • @hello50guitar me too lol

  • man, what have I been missing out on? When I got into bands like Zeppelin and Sabbath a few years back my friends all told me that The Grateful Dead weren't even worth listening to. Now im sorry I didn't listen to them sooner.

  • @BURNOUTRS wait I mean didn't not listen to them? oh wow it sounds weird either way but I love The Grateful Dead and that's the message you should take away from my comment

  • It's been a long 15 years...

  • happy b-jer- your are the best;(

  • today was jerry's birthday. RIP Jerry Gacia we have missed you.

  • WOW.........

  • the first time i heard this song something in me hust clicked and i was hooked

    R.I.P jerry

  • This song is so beautiful.

  • Do you have a copy of the live performance of this song December 7,1968?

  • No may come here since No one may stay.

  • This is gorgeous!

  • Influenced by the Beatles "Blue Jay Way". They even used the Beatleseque technique of putting the vocals through a leslie. Great song by the way.

  • This is poetry of the highest order. It's one of the most beautiful set of verses I've ever heard or read. Like an impressionist painting. And the melody and music are gorgeous. Wow.

  • rip jerry, everytime im high listening to you i cry.

  • i thinl lil"l Wayne got a few pointers from the dead

  • This is no music. This is RELIGION!

    This is HEAL!

  • Leslie Speaker FTW

  • @fagjupitor and in our acid!

  • @mapexdrums323 Amen to that!

  • Its

    "Boots were of leather"

incredible song. reminds me of my highschool days too.

  • He's got the lyrics right.

  • The album cover reminds me of high school. This was my first GD album and it changed my taste in music forever. I don't know if people fully appreciate the work of the Grateful Dead; whether they enjoy it or not.

  • God, thank you! This is just about my favourite song!

  • Deeply sentimental psychedelia, great tune with a sad lining....5 stars for the uploader!

  • :) My favorite

  • it's "sweet whiff of heather," isn't it?

  • is this really grateful dead ??

I remember them less psycehdelic and much more country-rock

  • 'Country Rock' is generally called Folk

  • Yes. It'a from their palindrome album, AOXOMOXOA. The lyrics are posted on my My Space account (same username).

  • grateful dead is pretty psycehdelic for sure but i feel what your saying that country rock sound in some of the songs

  • These lyrics are my favorite of any song, ever. Gorgeous.

  • The lyrics to this song refer to an old celtic folk legend. There's a book I think which had been put into print again entitled "Fairies" which mentions it.

  • this is such a beautiful song, I cant stop listening to it

  • You're so right, I can listen to it again and again. Too bad they didn't perform it live too often.

  • This is a beautiful song...I can just close my eyes and fade away into another world.

  • i have so many dead favs. hehe love em all

  • greatest dead song... for me anyway that is...

  • Love the distortion and feeling of this song.

  • Comment removed

  • Pretty sure the first lyric is "Boots were of leather", not "Swath of heaven." But thanks for the vid!

  • one of the prettiest songs ever ever
