@undergroundalcoholsi That´s not true, either she didn´t fought at all or she fought in the defense of the Teleri, depents on which version you believe, but she never took the oath and wasn´t a decendant of Feanor, he was her half uncle, she hated him, because she always sensed a darkness in him and wanted to thwart him in every way she could, after he killed the kin of her mother.
It is ironic, though, that Galadriel gets so much credit for refusing to take the Ring. She could have and should have used it to defeat Sauron and THEN destroyed it. LOTR looks so different after one has read the Silm.
Actually, you`re probably so closed minded yourself that you`ll take what I said to heart, so to remedy that, help yourself to a nice warm bowl of facts. Search evanescence and lord of the rings. You`ll find a few hundred, if not thousands of JUST Lord of the rings and evanescence. Enjoy.
What is with you people. imsoDEEPgirls making evanescence music videos and imsoDEEPboys making linkin park music videos. all of you do it. Do any of you have a mind of your own? It`s hilarious how many of these terrible videos are taking up 90% of youtube, along with pointless vlogs. COOL ANGST AND ORIGINAL CONCEPT THOUGH.
Don't you guys get it? The video maker was having fun with the idea of Galadriel as evil. He/she didn't believe that she really was. Obvious? I think so.
Galadriel is the most powerful individual on Middle Earth other then Sauron. Her grandfather was Finwe, one of the original first 3 elves, and she was born in Aman, The Blessed Rhelm, the homeland of the elves. And the older the elf, the more powerful they are. Aman is where they return when they sail into the west. Only 3 mortals have ever been allowed on Aman, Frodo and Bilbo are 2 of them.
To those who criticize this based on "Galadriel is not evil":
Read the Silmarillion. Like many of Tolkien's characters, Galadriel is too complex for a simple "good" or "evil" to suffice. Galadriel is not perfect, she hungers for power. She is not above temptation. _But_, in the end, when it really matters - like most imperfect heros, she does the right thing - refuses the ring and is redeemed. There are dark elements to the character, but in the end, we see good is dominant within her.
She is still the most powerful one of the Elves. Galadriel and Fëanor were both most powerful but Galadriel gained a lot of wisdom in the end of the journey, as Fëanor lost a lot of wisdom and died soon after arriving to Middle-Earth. I think Galadriel was the only Noldor royal that survived the wars of Middle-Earth, and she's respectably over 8000 years old in the end.
No, Galadriel is not evil. I think she tried to be the voice of sense in the middle of chaos, and she succeeded in the task.
Galadriel is not evil, but she is certainly one to fear, if you're her enemy. She is not the most powerful being in Middle-Earth though - Sauron is. Gandalf, Saruman, and Bombadil are also more powerful.
You don't remember entire books of Tolkien! A high elf can kill a maia. The Balrogs were Maiar, of the same order as Sauron, Saruman and Gandalf. And if you remember Ecthelion of the Fountain (a high elf lord) killed Gothmog (lord of balrogs) in a fight. So why lady Galadriel cannot defeat a maia?
If you read The Silmarillion, there's a strong parallel between Galadriel and Melian. Galadriel is considered able to protect Lorien from anything short of Sauron or those more powerful than him.
Ugh. No no no to everyone who keeps saying Galadriel could defeat Sauron, Gandalf or the Valar in a fight. She's a Noldo, and Calaquendi of royal blood but she's NOT a match for the Powers in a direct fight even with Nenya. Please read the Silmarillion. She's powerful, but not THAT powerful
aarila shouldn't sound so authoritative. Tolkien said in Letters that he didn't know the answer to this question. Several of Galadriels' kin DID go head to head with Ainur. I hate when fans try to claim that the Ring was in fact utterly useless to anyone hoping to challenge Sauron (and therefore merely a sticky artifact). It's not true and dialogues in the book prove it, plus it defeats the message of the book. The ring was not, as PJ made out, a mindless temptation.
Agreed. In the story, Sauron poured most of himself (including his power) into the one ring, so with that power she could have defeated the remaining strength of the Dark One. But only to replace him with a dark mistress beautiful and terrible! (sorry, quoting this scene from memory)
Oh and yeah, Tom Bombadil, Gandalf and Sauraman are certainly up there on the old power scale!
Nor was Gollum the villain of the piece. Another misconception that purists tend to gloss over when criticizing changes involving Gollum... and drawing entirely wrong conclusions about how the scene should have played.
Of course Gollum wasn't the victim. The victim is Melkor in my opinion, who corrupted Sauron to evil to begin with. Really the whole Lord of the Rings is tragic, in that the Valar neglected to bring Sauron back over the Sea with them at the End of the War of Power.
She's certainly not powerful enough by herself in a natural condition..... but she had enough willpower and strength to tame and command the forces contained within the One Ring, and with it she most likely could have defeated Sauron and indeed become a Dark Queen ruling in his stead. Recall that the lion's share of Sauron's remaining power was encapsuled within the Ring, to the extent that when it was destroyed, he didn't last more than a few moments.
Nope, Galadriel was the daughter of the Elves Finarfin and Earwen, and crossed into Middle Earth over the Helcaraxe, following Fingolfin. Though high-up on the list of Noldor, she is certainly Elven, not Maia. I suspect you're confusing Galadriel with Melian, Queen to Thingol of Doriath. Melian was the only Maia to wed a 'child of Iluvatar' (Elves & Men) - and she left Doriath after Thingol was slain.
The first King & Queen of the Elves where stolen by Morgoth if I remember correctly ( so long ago), & were tortured then murdered........then stitched back together- creating the first Dark Elves....Galadriel pales in comparison to them- she's really good....Trust me Dark Elves oooooh there sooo nasty.....
greg31415 Absolutely correct, Any/all are tempted and most of all, by Power.......refusing it for the good of all was the best thing She could have ever done
Second, no, of course Galadriel is not _inherently_ evil. She is on the side of good, but has temptations - particularly a desire for power (otherwise she might still be in Valinor). These suppressed dark tendencies are awakened when Frodo offers her the ring, and we see a dark side of her for a moment. Any realistic - interesting - character has one. Her good side is dominant, and she refuses the ring. I think that says it all.
sorry i´m also not convinced that she´s evil i think you know the idea of an evil galadriel and don´t exactly think that she´s evil in the book (thats my comment to those who keep repeating that galadriel isn´t evil)
it´s called imagination... ;) basically i like such things (good characters becoming evil or evil characters becoming good) but i just can´t imagine an evil galadriel sorry
I like the thought of a dark Galadriel. How would middle earth look like if she had taken the ring? And would she then have sailed to Valinor to rule there as well!!
You've neither read the book or seen the film, either. Galadriel is one of the most powerful beings in Middle Earth, but she is not evil, and holds out when tempted by the ring.
On the contrary . I have read the books and I have seen the film, obviously..how else would I have made this video??

@Ariantina Actually there are people who study Tolkien's writings their entire lives as they relate to Christian allegory. But, I appreciate your awesome imagination!!!
Sorry, not convinced. Especially since her portrayal in the movie is much graver & less lighthearted than she is in the novel. Jackson got a lot of criticism for her being too scary.
This is VERY cool and it went somewhere a lot of people might not go. Really goes to show that it's all in the presentation of someone. Great clip arrangement and great song!
Tom Bombadil was a pure creature, not a warrior if Frodo had failed, sooner or later the land of Tom will be surrounded by the darkness and then fall , he would have to hide like a ghost ,... at least that is the view of his alternative future that the books shows...
Tom Bombadil was also subject to the creative whims of Tolkien, who could have changed his mind at any time. However, giving Tom the ring and having him effortlessly skip and bound to Mount Doom would've made the book shorter and less interesting.
Nah she's not evil, she's just a very powerfull elf that's had her trials with evil in her past, which is found in the Simarillion. But ends up being redeemed when she resists the one ring.
No, it was just a movie effect to show how she was transformed by temptation and lust for power for a moment when she was faced with the possibilty of acquiring the One Ring. It was just artistic license. She resisted the temptation & returned to herself and "remained Galadriel"
love the song loved who she was in the movie didn't think the actress did the role the massive justice though her caracter was even more strong of power and beauty in the book but not many could try to play the role a good job
Because she's not evil. She is the most powerful being in LOTR and she would have been many times more powerful had she taken the ring, she would have become a goddess, but she resisted.
-_- she is not evil. all i am saying.
