Definitely not. Belak was definitely the winner on this one. Got punches in early and also landed a couple of good opportunity hits later in the fight. Boogy had one or two glancing haymakers but they were a bit off in aim and didn't do very much. Belak stopped fighting out of exhaustion more than fear of Boogy's free left hand. Definitely got to give this one to Belak.

In my mind a right call is a DRAW.
Both landed several strong punches.
Belak fought a bit smarter, but Boogaard landed those typical roundhouse, long rights from himself.
At the end Belak stopped throwing and scared when Boogaard gets loose his hand.

yeah but there's plenty of players who can fight but still have some skill, perfect example would be jarome iginla, even rick rypien on the canucks. boogaard has no hockey skill and the only reason he doesn't get shitkicked is cause he's so big, he's not really that good a fighter considering how big a size and reach advantage he usually has.

Belak won the fight, Minny won the game. Still though, winning against Boogie is quite an achievement and Belak will command a lot of respect in that locker room because of this.

early on, the "jersey jab", with a firm grip on boogaard's collar,
kept the long reach advantage from becoming a factor for derek
later, with the left arm free of restraint, belak scores often with a left uppper cut
not enough to knock anyone out, but some of those landed flush on boogaard's face
belak gets my decision ,
with bonus points for this scrap being a clear case of standing up for a team-mate

oh man thaat was one of the best fight ive seen so far this season in regards to the exchange of punches. booggards got about 7 inches on belak but nonetheless two heayweights..not a good scrap, a GREAT scrap

lol yah i was just exaggerating cuz he looks so much bigger..i live in vancouver and played hockey all my life and believe it or not, its realllly easy to beat a bigger guy when your on skates becuz of the way u can expose them for a chance to throw some blows..off the the ice, in shoes, belak woulda got fucked up..oh yah dwild minnesota is my favorite american team, division rivals of mine or not, minnesota is 31 hockey state in USA.
