  • Kinda lost some of the fire from the original. Tamed down.

  • This is fantastic...Duff Mckagan also sings this song really great :)

  • hm ich hab was unanständiges entdeckt

  • @AlysiaVertiewv135 was denn? ;-)

  • I wish I could buy this entire show and/or soundtrack, but I haven't seen it anywhere. Is it available?

  • @sirensong65 The show from 2000 is available on the CD 'BBC Radio Theatre: London June 27 2000'. It was a limited edition but can still be found on Amazon if you search for it. I think it was also broadcast on TV..but I have never seen a DVD of the show unfortunately, but it looks like an awecome gig :)

  • @sirensong65 This performance is also part of a limited edition 3 cd set Bowie at the Beeb.

  • @tracym222 I'd love to know which edition as I think it's one of the best of that song which is one of my all time favourites ! I'd rush and buy it. thanks for letting us know

  • Love the grin he has on this whole performance!

  • Honey on my tired ears... Bowie never disappoints !!! (-_-)

  • BOWIE AT HIS BEST... CRACK BABY CRACK

  • Gail Ann Dorsey fucking rocks!

  • earl fucking slick!!!!!!!

  • When is Bowie going to be Knighted? Sir David Bowie or Sir David Robert Jones.

  • @Nostalgicflashback

Bowie is too cool for that, it was offered to him but he said no thanks.

  • pecka!!!!

  • Wow! Best performance I've seen of this song. Love the attitude!!!

  • I'm usually a tolerant person, but if I could time travel, I'd go back and cut that fool guy's arm off --- over and over in this concert footage there it is. Oh well, at least he has to revisit his annoying behavior over and over too.

  • God knows you're really good David ! Even better than him ! Thanks David for you're amazing creativity and beautiful voice

  • while I wish the video quality was higher, the sound quality (which, for this, counts much more) is fucking incredible.

  • <3<3<3<3<3<3<3

  • the backup girls sound weird singing suck baby suck, lol

  • @ewanfanatic88 Look at the blonde girl at about 02:00 in, she's all grins lol, I suppose that's why they sound weird :)))

  • incredible - truly hope this is available on DVD!

  • this gives me chicken skin .goose bumps

  • I remember listening to this under the influence. blows you away!

  • oh. my. bowie. i mean god...wait...yeah i was right i meant bowie

  • Superb stuff fom the legend

  • Great to see Mike Garson having a great time

  • Whoever said this is sloppy is obviously some stay at home musician who can't cut it and lives at home with mom and works for Guitar Center - home of the ultra douche bag wannabe musician.....

  • Shit-hot........this band fucking REIGNS! Grindin' it out!!!

  • Shit-hot........

  • BTW, on keys is Emm Gryner and Holly Palmer is the one with the Tambourine. These two can sing and really desrve more credit than they get...

  • I love Gail Ann Dorsey in this! A very under rated bassist and musician!

  • @ProfGumby she's not underrated. She's widely acclaimed as one of the best bass players ever.

  • @ProfGumby She is freakin amazing!!!!!!

  • This was fantastic. Earl Slick and Garson back at their magic? Wow. Gail plays the hell out of the bass and the drummer is the best he has ever had. This whole group is the strongest he has ever had. David Live line-up was close (with Sanborn), but this is better.

  • He finally found the ultimate band. Incredible.

  • What the fuck is wrong with that guitarist's right arm? His veins look like something from a David Cronenberg movie!

  • @Loobs666 You mean like scanners? Lol.

  • Saw him twice in 2003 at Mohegan Sun. June and December. He blew my mind! Love you David! Come back to CT!

  • the female singers are brilliant!

  • Like watching Mozart pissing. Amazing!

  • Amen !

  • Those girls look so disinterested. Wish they could have seen him as ziggy, singing this. There would be a lot of enthusiasm in their "Suck baby suck" don't you think?

  • @Annaedification

You're kidding right? Watch real close around the 1:58 - 2:00 mark...the girls are into it..especially the cute little smile on the girl with the tambourine as she sings "suck baby suck"...

What are they supposed to do, deep throat the mike?

  • This man has been a favorit for 40 years as counted. Never seen him live, unfortunatebly

  • love the girls singing "suck baby suck" :-)

  • Not only has Bowie played with so many talented musicians, but he seems to bring out their best work. Mick Ronson, Earl Slick, Mike Garson, Carlos Alomar, Herbie Flowers, Gail Dorsey.

Gail Dorsey is one mutha of a bass player, great tone and groove. Fantastic.

  • @CCRider100 ...not to mention, the girl has some pipes too.

  • bowie is THE BEST ARTIST still living....

  • @george22021979 yeap he is..

  • @george22021979 Bowie is the best artist, alive or dead

  • Bowie in a small room like this, knocking out the hits is a sight and sound to behold! What an artist and what a band he has behind him!

  • Cracked Actor is one of my DB Favs!

  • Just the best, wicked guitar. Wicked Bowie, love that man.

  • now this song is decadence...

  • phenomenal

  • great cover this is the only rock and roll star who reallly travel in the time to time looks like 70s honky dory

  • some badass Bowie right here

  • Absolutely fantastic!!!!!

  • Jeanine Petibone on back up vocals and bongos?

  • Earl Slick is the man! and love Holly!!!

  • Sloppy, definitely not, but I do admit that it's slick, compared the to rawer 1973 original.

  • Holly Palmer- the brunette is Emm Gryner- both on youtube and myspace

  • Who's this blondy chick on the percussion and backing vocals????

  • Yeah , Earl's deluxe on fire with this one. I like this circa 2000 line up.

  • Sloppy? If you saw this in it's entirety you would see how incredibly tight they are. I can't see where you say this is sloppy. Man, they are rockin'. Earl Slick is the shit.

  • Happy birthday David!

  • seems kind of sloppy, still good though

  • sloppy?? Are you nuts?

  • It just doesn't get any better than that, raunchy yet tasteful and classy at the same time. I hope he's not done yet, I got to see him in 2004.

  • Love it. I stil think he is underrated to this day. Just one of the best ever to make music

  • digital sound makes me sad

  • This song is sorely missing the genius of Mick Ronson. These guitar players are over playing it.

  • Ronno does complete most of the Ziggy songs. no one can replace him.

  • @charmcchar

so what's he supposed to do, not play the Ronson era stuff? I think this line up is incredible, but Earl Slick needs to be kept in line..........guitarists can start getting ideas above their station (to station)

  • oh i totally understand, i was just saying how much Mick Ronson did for the music.

  • @roygrif Mick Made it Scream - Howl and Cry....My Fav.

  • Mick Ronson played pre-Aladdin Sane era until he left with Mott The Hoople. Carlos Alomar played guitar for Aladdin Sane & onwards

  • Wrong. Ronson played on Aladdin Sane. Alomar first appears on the Young Americans album and played live with Bowie on the Diamond Dogs tour.

  • @apoisonoussymphony Sorry mate you are wrong `````````````````carlos didn't play until Young Americans Ronson played on Pin ups

  • I believe this was most like the concert of the century. Sorry I missed it :)

  • @catmandave55 I was there!!! :D

  • Mike Garson rules the planet!

  • he looks and sings great, especially for his age and the fact he smokes 40 cigarettes a day

  • smoked, his smoking days are over for a number of years now.

  • I was there

  • I love the femininity of the backing vocals and how they compliment bowies deep masculine voice - sheer excellence

  • If God could play the guitar he would sound like this - one of my favs just now

  • Soo different from the Bowie original. Wonder where they got the idea to do it this way?

    I'll tell you.

BIG COUNTRY recorded it for their Under Cover album version - probably the best 'covers' album ever. Very underrated band Big Country and rest in peace lead singer Stuart Adamson.

Oh, if you want to hear how good, just key in BIG COUNTRY CRACKED ACTOR.

They do other covers brilliant too - Paranoid is better, dare I say it than Ozzie and Black Sabbath's original.

  • Words cannot describe the sheer excellence and power of the guitar on this track; I love it!

  • i liked the old lyrics better. the profane-ness sounded better. haha

  • Great lead guitars! The studio version of this is one of my fav Bowie songs of all time, as is the album Aladdin Sane.

  • Oh lol, at about 1:30 Mike Garson looks so goddamn happy.

  • this is the best version I have heard of this song ,, the guitar work is great

  • Pretty good. Think I prefer mine.

  • doesw any 1 know who the blonde back up singer is not Em Gryner but the other 1 please

  • Holly Palmer and Emm Gryner were his back-up singers at the time. They have both released their won work since.

  • david, you are too sexy.........

  • what is the guitarists name that bowie introduces???

  • mark platin, or something like that!

  • Comment removed

  • Mark Plati

  • No Gemma, thats Em Gryner from beautiful Toronto,Canada...on backing vocals....David loves our city ...his fave...met him twice here...seen him over 30 times...and I WILL meet him again...

    Luv on ya!

    Dr.Jeff

  • Masterful...

  • the bassist is massive!

so are the guitarists, drummer, pianist, backing vocals, and BOWIE!

  • i love his hair

  • Bowie = SEX.

  • wow. he is so gorgeous! lol i love how he still does the same moves as he did when he was younger-pointing to people in the audience and stuff.

    I LOVE IT!!! :D

  • If it gets any better than this, I don't want to know about it.

  • @tracygalvin it doesn't

  • Fucking amazing!!!!!

  • where can i get the DVD of this live show?

  • It was shown live on BBC and these are people who recorded it. I don't think an official DVD for this show was ever released.

  • Can anyone tell me if its possible to upload the audio for this and more importantly is it legit?

Super sexy song with much cherished backing vocals!

  • it just doesnt get tighter than this.....

  • Bowie is like wine, he get's better with age

  • i love you bowie!!!!

  • This is really rocks so hard -such a cracking version.

  • You go Gayle with that killer bass line!!!

  • who is the tamborine blond? she is so gorgeous, wow!

  • I love the chorus

  • "Give me some head". I lol'd.

  • i've had Alladin Sane since I was 6yo. I'm 40 now and all these years i never knew Crack'd Actor was about RH. Thanks for that

  • Brilliant. Aladdin Sane was such a landmark album. Time, Panic in Detroit, Lady Grinning Soul, Drive-in-Saturday, an audacious Stones reworking and this classic.

  • whoooooar!!!!

  • crack baby crack !

The man is clean, yeah, at least

  • I Loved this. Isnt he just georgous with his long blonde hair.. Fabulous

  • Wonder if it comes off like Mick and Rod?

  • No Ronson........bummer

  • Ronson will always rule on this track but Earl Slick does himself proud. Two ace guitarists. Would have loved to hear them duet on this track.
