  • @LeeseePieces lol!! That is so true!! Hahaha!

  • never realised how much Olivier put up with and how long he tried to hold on, still - 'in sickness and in health'

  • where can i find lady macbeth

  • "No, one may not inquire."

Vivien wasn't having it and I love it!

  • God... poor Vivien. It's just sooo tragic. She was so beautiful and talented and her life just spiraled and crashed. Like everyone else, I just wish she was alive today so she could have had better treatment. It's so funny that she didn't think herself as Scarlett- because she was exactly like Scarlett at the time. And then it seemed she truly was Blanche Dubois later in life. Devastating and sad as her life was though, I still consider her the most beautiful and talented of them all.

  • @Charmedfan2010 Maybe deep inside her heart she wasn't Scarlett after all, but she has to face the world and constantly put her mask on, i think she was once desperately wanted someone in her life that she can fully trust, share and live with... I wish she had her mother as best friend, maybe the her life would've been better... we can only pray, love and remember here now.. i love your comment btw:)

  • hahahah that look at 5:45 says "keep your hands off my man BITCH!"

  • @jlee4788 Seriously, her eyes even flashed when they went from 'o_o' to 'O_O' for a second.

  • Gosh. M. Monroe looks so pretty in her shot! And gosh. How can Viv get mad at Joan for taking her man when she stole Lawrence from a wife and kid?

  • talk about downgrading from viv to joan, wow

  • She love fake fames and many lovers. We see the end is not good--no loyal partner for her.

  • I also wish she was alive in a time where they had better treatment for issues such as her's. Her life could have been so much better. A person with that much beauty, passion, and talent shouldn't have had to suffer in ways such as shock therapy. She will forever be remembered as something wonderful.

  • @Britfan06 Will get to meet her someday:)

  • @FanofBewitched Yes I hope so.

  • I love how she totally BASHED monroe ! I soo would have done that too. !

  • Judy Garland had electric shock treatments around the late 40's then in the mid 50's and suffered from bi polar & I am sure that if they had the treatments back then like we have today, I am pretty sure some of these great stars would have lived a lot longer. These Dr's who came up with shock treatment should have been the ones to have had the treatments done to themselves before they used it on the mentally ill patients. I cant imagine the horror people went through getting those treatments.

  • I don't mean disrespect by this, but to go from Vivien to Joan? I'm sure Joan is a sweetheart, but in the looks department there certainly is a big difference. I'm sad it didn't work out between Laurence and Vivien. They seemed to be such a beautiful couple.

  • @lapetiteombre if you learn anything from this story it should be that looks are not a good foundation for a relationship. I think Laurence Oliviet did learn that.

  • @lapetiteombre looks alone anyway.

  • why did he stay with her, maybe because she was ill. i heard that her type of illness a symptom is nymphomania, how sad that must be to have that illness, however, one must draw a line because clearly she was also "DANGEROUS" very difficult situation

  • @ 97sweeney 10

i'm sad to say, electricoconvulsive therapy is still used today and considered a method of threatment...

  • I didn't know he dated Joan Plowright

  • @WarRogers I didn't even know her name, but I recognized her...she is on the movie 101 dalmations...I liked her....Wow...

  • So sad that people who suffered from what Vivien suffered during her time were treated with electric shock. I could just imagine what she went through. Nowadays, it's so easy to treat her condition with the medication Lithium. There are quite a few actress who are treated with Lithium and live normal lives.

  • I feel sorry for her.. she won 2 oscars, was a very famous and celebrated actress but she was very unhappy... hollywood didn't make her happy at all...

  • He sold the house just to make a point that their marriage was over? OMG.

  • What's wrong with these...so called "friends"? do they have to tell every graphic story they have encountered with Vivien?

  • @1234oldaa sadly, most of her actual close friends are dead now, so they have to get these people who are on the outer orbit of her friendship circle, and i think some of them weren't friends with her at all but rather just acquaintances--like that Joan person who talks about her digging in the dirt at Notley

  • 'she was just kneeling on the ground digging with her fingers'

that is heartbreaking to hear, a once great actress and screen icon reduced to such a wreck

  • "So, Lady Olivier, how about your private life, is one may enquire?"

    "No, one may NOT enquire."

    Very slick, Viv!

  • I love her answer too. :) If only the media would back off celebrities today like they seemed to do back then when a question went unanswered.

  • Shock treatment=helpful?Wow,then some of you would probably find lobotomy promising as well.We just have different semantics corresponding to the word "helpful",i guess...

  • I've read Vivian was sickened by tuberculosis at an early age and it became chronically, but none of her doctors realized it. So they thought she had depressions, but in fact it was the chronical tuberculosis which caused the depressions and hysterics.

  • i swear, shock therapy? That's disgusting. I wish she would have been alive now, and not have to endure that. Imagine how much pain she must have been in! :( *cry* ugh! Rest in Peace, Miss Leigh; Our Angel

  • Shock therapy is not disgusting. It has been maligned today because people are very ignorant and believe all the bad press it has gotten from hollywood films. The treatment, in fact, gave tremendous relief to millions of people back then... and it's still a life saver for many people today. Chances are you have grandparents/aunts/uncles who had shock therapy back in the day. I have relatives in both the UK and US who had shock therapy in the 50s and 60s. It was fairly common and very helpful

  • Sorry. That was just my opinion.

  • Shock therapy wasn't always so wonderful. Pleased that your relatives came away with relief, but that was not the case for everyone.

  • Shock therapy has never been helpful

  • um... care to back that up with something? other than 6 meaningless words?

  • @97sweeney10 You know, Vivien Leigh Was NOT THE ONLY WOMAN in hollywood who had received Shock therapy which causes permanent brain damage.

Some of her friends and some people in Hollywood scene should be locked up for Organized crime they had committed against this talent and beautiful actress with full of grace and kindness in her heart. such a disgrace. you ugly woman, you don't even compare to her so you better keep your ugly mouth shut. (I am talking about the woman in the documentary)

  • @97sweeney10 You don't feel pain in ECT as the patient is unconscious when the shocks are delivered. ECT is still used today as a last resort for suicidal patients because of it's immediate effects. Yes there are side-effect, just like with any drug treatment. In the end, ECT doesn't deserve the bad reputation it holds.

  • This makes me so thankful for new therapies! It angers me when people online accuse us (sufferers of Bipolar) with faking! It must have been an awful LIfe for Vivien having such little help!

  • OMG! it's the maid from 101 Dalmatians!

  • Marlon Brando said Larry was TERRIFIC in bed.

  • No wonder she lost her mind then with all that craziness.

  • hahahah :)

  • Why include this twat with the hat at 2.41 who is as thick as shit in an otherwise superb documentry

  • I love that pan from left to right at 5.43 across Marilyn, Vivien and larry, it says so much.

  • The way we deal with mental illness has improved, but it's still pretty inadequate. :(

  • That is so very true.

  • well there is a lot of diff. medications for manic/depression now and some people become stable and lead normal lives, as well as CBT, come a long ways but still so far off

  • thank you for posting this!

  • what a sad heartbreaking story. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • This video is great!

I have not seen these films before.

    I love Viv and Larry!

    Thanks europecinema!

    Fans appreciate your thoughtfulness!

    Love YOU!

  • lol@ "no, one may not inquire"

  • lol

  • Good for her for saying that!!

  • europecinema, thanks a lot!

Viv is my fave actress :)
