It's intentionally a stupid song. At the climax of the film, Dr. Terwilliger forces 500 piano students to play "the greatest song in the world: 10 Dancing Fingers." , He's so vain he thinks his dumb little piece is worthy of conscripting 500 boys and brainwashing all their parents to play his stupid piece on his humongous piano. Watch the whole movie and you'll understand.

Nice tune, but I prefer by far, from the same movie, nostalgic "Dream stuff" (can't manage to find it on youtube), gloomy "Elevator song" or boisterous "Doe-me-doe duds".

Have you noticed that Tommy plays the piano piece on the white keys : that is, he is playing the piece in the key of C . However, the sound track is playing the piece in the key of Bb ! (Of course, it's someone else actually playing the piece ). Strange that they would play it in Bb...
