PS: the "aged civilian" was the Norwegian poet and writer Knut Hamsun (1859-1952), who came for a courtesy visit on board the German U-boat. No inventor nor anything.

I've a suspicion that the clip of 'Hitler visting wounded vets' is in fact Hitler visiting those insured in the assassination attempt.
I could be wrong, but Hitler was most reluctant to visit those wounded in battle, in fact when his train stopped opposite an ambulance train with wounded soldiers he had his blinds pulled down. (This is somewhere in Kershaw's book). Anyone know if AH ever did visit injured soldiers?
