  • I WANT IT!!!!!!

  • Used to sound like a real instrument, it's just a sterile, stupid and I would say immoral parody of those instruments.

Anyway, I believe that woodwind synthetizesr have huge potentialities.

  • @FabioCalcinelli You can use the EWI USB with any sound set you prefer. If you have a sound library with instrument sounds you prefer, as long as it can be controlled via MIDI on your computer, the EWI USB will provide great control.

  • Weird!! First time I see something like this. But those who say that sound like shit can buy real library!!

  • i can't set the bite control does anyone know how.

  • I can't get the bit control to respond does anyone know how to set it.

  • what are the EWI 4000s and USB prices?

  • @jambojazz34 About $700 for the 4000S and about $300 for the USB.

  • can you plug it in to an amp?

  • @Reflectoeyestiga no only to a usb port if you want an ewi that plugs into an amp you need the ewi 400os which has a line out for amps and a line out for headphones for practicing and it has a midi in and a midi out jack.

Ewi 4000s has a built in synthesizer, but if you want to get it to sound like a sax or trumpet you need to hook it up to a rack synth or a keyboard synth. The Ewi usb is not a stand alone synth module. You need to use the sound software.

  • @Reflectoeyestiga You can with this

    amazon . com/LightSnake-STUSBG10-USB-Instrument-cable/dp/B000H7LBB8

  • "and some fat synth sounds"

    nice.

  • that sound at 3;27 sold me i gotta have this man

  • Every time I see this, and it reaches that bell part (Pitched percussion), I feel high. It's just not a sound you expect from something like that. It's still kick ass though.

  • 3:20 bowser

  • figrin d'an had one of these a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

  • not impressed by miyamoto...go back to nintendo and make a mario game

  • @kostikas2002 IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE HE'S ACTUALLY CHINESE

  • wow this instrument rocks, looks easy enough to play aswell, B-)

  • what do you call that synth at the end from 3:20 onwards

  • This is sweet!!!!!

  • I need a pair of those shades.

  • wow didnt kno they had this kind of tech out....its wild!!

  • Bernie Kenerson FTW!!!

  • and some kick ass synth tones, BAM!!!

  • is there any way to set up a recorder fingering pattern on the ewi????...aloha, forest

  • its yoko ono's bro :p

  • Giving a 5 year flutist (me) a EWI is like giving a 2 year electric bassist (me) a Digitech RP50 multiFX and distortion pedal.

  • can you clean this thing out lol when spit gets in it?

  • can this be used as MIDI for FL studio or what?

  • OMG WHEN HE PLAYED THE PERCUSSION I LAUGHED SO HARD!!!!!!!

still this thing goes hard, i'm getting one immediately

  • This is so cool! Now i want one!

  • Purists need to take a break, this instrument has its place. You would never pick an ewi up and want it to sound like an acoustic instrument. That would be like using an 808 drum machine and getting mad because it doesn't sound like an acoustic drumset. ....purists need to chill out.

  • you are correct sir, the ewi is to give wind players a new and different voice. its not an instrument made to immitate acoustic instruments. ive always wanted to be able to use synths like keyboard players and guitarists can. thats what the ewi is for.

  • I have an EWI 4000s - I love it - And the VL-70m (with PatchMan Turbo) sounds pretty convincing, actually...

  • I consider myself a purist (early music buff who plays a baroque flute and clavichord) but I completely agree with you.

I'd love one of these. Some of the sounds it can make are pretty convincing but it makes far more sense to consider this another instrument.

I know what I want for my birthday now.

  • @sippyjuice And you still need to know how to play a real one to really get the most out of this one!

  • It can beat live, acoustic sound, but the synth, and/or elec guitar type outputs give flautists e.t.c a chance to break into rock music.

  • where can i get one of these? o_o

  • I want one! Do you have to tongue or blow when you play it?

  • Soo cool that it can do woodwind and brass fingerings! I play trumpet (main), along with flute and a little sax...and now I really want this!!!!

  • Im an alto sax player and my ewi is coming in 3 days... so Im REALLY exited.

  • Compra um teclado que sai mais barato.

  • Hi! Can I use this like with a usb midi direct from a keyboard like Yamaha Motif Xs or Korg M3?

  • wow i can't wait. i get one of these in july (2009,obviously) at least i hope i do.

the only bad thing is i only know oboe fingerings, but i can barely remember them, and i don't want to learn any new fingerings.

  • I´ve tryed to use an EWI as a midi controller with my pc and the trouble es the latency (even adjusting it in the programs, some sounds soud delayed or whith noise). How this instrument solve this problem ?? or are there special drivers or sound cards...?

  • Do the EWI USBs always have to be plugged in?

  • the 299 one.

  • Comment removed

  • sure it is...I've only tried it as a VST in cubase and it works great...basically you can trigger any vst with this controller...it works the same way a midi keyboard would...only more realistic when it comes to wind instruments samples....and way more fun...specially if you are handicap with keys like myself and play a horn (sax in my case)...

  • Thank you, my friend! I love the sax, and I would certainly enjoy listening to your sax recordings, if available. I am a contemporary classical and film music composer and orchestrator, myself.

I wonder how the product responds to vibrato... can it translate the amount of vibrato that I apply to a note into MIDI terms? (e.g. into "modwheel" values when I use samples with modwheel-based vibrato). Do you think it can be done?

Thanks again for the insights and help.

  • It's a great toy...unfortunately the only good sounds in the Garritan Aria VST (software included)are the ones featured in this video...I'm looking forward to try it with a different VSTi...(Kontakt2..)

  • anyone know tha song in tha background of tha 1st half?

  • Do you have any recomendations for designing sounds on a pc for the akai?

  • I'd love to help you, but I don't understand your question...
