  • I love how the diversity between this and Karnivool

Ian there's only one word for you = GENIUS

  • Personally, I like the "breathing" it makes the song what it is! and its great!

  • damn this sound me known.. there's another song similar but i can't remember..

  • mh.. that drummer doesn't have energy..

  • is this indie??????????????

  • @clankanator i believe it is called alternative rock, so i guess you could call it indie

  • fuck yeah australia. best country in the world!

  • What's the matter if ppl says it mainstream or not? Just listen to the music

  • why is australian rock the best type of rock that exists?

  • @Aurora2477 all the best things come from perth ;)

  • can someone PLEASE upload a good quality video of this? this is the only Silhouettic video I can find and it isnt good quality, someone let me know if you find a better one, thanks.

  • If you guys like Ian Kenny check out Karnivool, his other band. They're a bit heavier than BOT but they still kick ass!

  • theys guys rocked at pyramid 08

  • Comment removed

  • there goes my babyyyy... IIIIGHHHHHH wtf those breathings?

  • please let the world realise what perth and fremantle is. ROCK CITY

  • Is this band Australian? Fuck, about time I've found a great Australian band.

  • @Allastanza Check out Karnivool, Butterfly Effect and Cog.

  • @JuanmiSerranoEncinas three absolutly great bands to go with these guys

  • Why the hell should it matter if it's mainstream? All that being mainstream means is that more people will be able to listen to it.

  • ANother Kick Perth Kick arse BAnd ! ;)

  • I just L0ve AustraLian music <3

  • wtf is with all this mainstream shit!!!!!, people are just pissed off because they dont get to claim that they were listing to BOT before it was cool. fuck hipsters!!!!!!!!

  • Why does everyone think Birds of Tokyo are mainstream? I highly doubt mainstream radio stations would have known who Ian Kenny was until their third album, which has a more relaxed feel, but I wouldn't call it mainstream. Lots of other bands have a more relaxed feel to their music and they wouldn't be classified as mainstream; just because BOT did this sort of stuff and have gone more laid back does not mean they are now "mainstream".

  • @ecermusic Cause they're mainstream compared to Karnivool, tho I could definitely see a song like "All I Know" being on the radio or whatever they have instead of MTV these days with that said

  • @sm0kenmirrhurz92 There's no such thing as being "mainstream compared to" another band. It's either mainstream or it isn't. There's a difference between clean and mainstream.

  • @ecermusic Maybe "mainstream" isn't the right word, but their music is undoubtedly more accessible.

  • @ecermusic

Everything is relative man. So much in this world is relative. Including what is considered mainstream and what isnt.

  • Whyyy did you all make me notice the breathing!!!!

  • Lol now you all hear that after every line he breaths very loud =)

  • This was so much better live! craziness!

  • Aww i always used to listen to this! :D

  • Who cares about those gasps of air, i like it, It makes the song sound more real in a way

  • they are little nuances that add character and emotion to the song....It shows he's really putting in effort into his singing, heaps of people do it. Go birds......and even better is karnivool. Fuck yeah aussie music

  • Neither the less if you can hear his breathing or not, it's still a fucking hectic song.

  • Amazing, can everyone stop going on about the breathing, I didnt even notice it untill I read the comments...

  • @TheSocceroofan Its the only thing I notice now hahah

  • Fuck you guys, I didn't notice the breathing until I read all these comments. now it's the only thing that sticks out haha. but it doesn't even sound hell bad, I don't get it.

  • he sounds like serj tankian

  • @CHbmx WTF ??!?!?! You got to be kidding me ? SERJ is soooo different, man

  • Breathing doesnt matter! Works for Muse, works for Birds of Tokyo :)

  • i cant hear the breathing! oh wells means its not as bad as everyone says

  • love the song, i can handle the breathing although i do listen to heavy stuff :) all in all awesome song, fuck the people who hate it xD

  • i know the guy that filmed it

  • i think the gasps give the vocals a more urgent nature, similar to how screaming would in heavier music, but without the loss of melody.

  • Yeah me too, shut about it. It's a great song

  • yep i never noticed before and now i hear it all the time

  • beurk

  • jesus he ghasps after each line so noticably. how did it get out of the studio like this?

  • @butterflycaught900 cause hes a good fuckin singer you dumbass. why u gotta be such an ass. let me see you sing that good haha. then post it then i will shut my mouth.

  • haha pause at 3:29 .... best expression ever

  • sound's like he has hiccups.

  • I don't like BOT's new album. It's sounding a bit to mainstream. Just hasn't got that underground Indie feel that they used to have.

  • no i should not say HE is the best thing in australian muisic at the moment...BOT/ Karnivool/ Butterfly Effect the BANDS are the best thing in australian music

  • I could not give a flying fuck if this man breathes after each verse or whatever...he is without a doubt the best thing in australian music at the moment..saw him live with birds of tokyo and sounds amazing if not better live

  • 15 people aren't always on the same page.

  • nobody would have really noticed his breathing if some knobhead hadnt mentioned it.

like matt bellamy from muse does it as well

    you just dont notice it

  • @scottmasterliam Wait, are you serious lol? Even when i'm not paying attention I can hear it! Muse arn't that great anymore.

  • @Axisoflords i nveer noticed it till i read that someone else put it

    and everybodies whinging about it

    it doesnt bother me hugely

    it is annoying though

muse arent as good as they used to be

  • Lol he admitted to the bad breathing technique in Zoo mag, he doesn't care, I don't care. Just shut up and listen to the song.

  • I love this song, so much, and seeing them live in Oct was just one of the coolest experiences. Great crowd participation, and this song, was just incredible. :)

    Yay go Aussies!!!

  • ffs now i'm listening out for it ><

  • @MrSPARTANSUPERMAN Yes they do, MR Ian kenny is his name

  • you cant compare karnivool to birds of tokyo, they're both in their own classes of pure genius

  • Amazing everything.

    Wolf Creek anyone?

  • @perrilovexx yep. It's pretty Wolf Creek-ish

  • Comment removed

  • Ian Kenny is a god!

  • Karnivool is wayyyyyyy better.

  • Where does he got such fantastic clothes?

    they are seriously amazing

  • Where does he got such fanttastic clothes?

    they are seriously amazing

  • this is so frikkin amazing,

i dojnt want them to go like

    fully commercial

    that would suck :(

  • ive been listening to them for years.....its a shame theyre so mainstream these days.....

  • This is by far their best song, before they went mainstream.

  • something about ian kenny looks different everytime! Like a few years back his appearance was so different! Haha, mad band but!

  • Seems like he should do some Peter Garrett crazy dancing shit

  • If you would be so kind as to check out my band, we'd really appreciate the feedback!

  • I love the lead singer. He's always got such emotion in his face when he sings.

  • @tsuuuki Karnivool is his best band in my opinion, his vocals are flawless.

and it's much more original than this stuff... which is okay I guess

  • @mikeyFear0n spot on mate, i saw karnivool in pt hedlad at a pub up here, and my God, that dude can sing like a bird. Had the crowd going apeshit as well, never seen anything like, highlight of my year so far.

  • one and the same

  • Whats up with that big breath suck after every line?? Once you get that in your head the rest of the song kinda goes to pieces.

  • @bdcoastal that guy is belting it out. takes a bit of vocal power to hold power notes and have the breath to do it back to back. Homedude from MUSE does that alot too.

  • @bdcoastal I am now aware :(

  • @bdcoastal YOU HAD TO POINT THAT OUT DIDNT YOU?!? D: goddamnit...

  • FUCKING AMAZING!

  • Awesome band, but Ian Kenny taking a breath (loud) after every verse has just ruined this track (and some others) for me :-/ ...most notably at 0:57.

  • karnivool > birds

  • So many good bands come from Perth... Karnivool, Birds of Tokyo, Pendulum, Gyroscope, John Butler Trio, Eskimo Joe to name a few!

  • NICE...VERY NICE

  • HAHAHAHA!!!! I can't listen to this song without hearing the singers emphysemic breathing before every line! *huff* There goes my baby *huff* something something *huff*

  • ....or maybe it's hiccups.

  • no, karnivool and shit like this is emo and wingey.

It's all just rock hits, lets be angsty. It's just sing this bit, play that bit, finish the song, publish. Sell.

If your going to listen to "metal", listen to the proper groundbreaking shit. Fear Factory, Meshuggah,Tool. This is just kids whining.

There shouldn't be "baby, yeah!" in lyrics.

and Karnivool are only marginally better than this. It has no soul, no passion. Listening to it I can hear it was all just mashed up collected riffs.

  • @dano555666 if you dont like it why are you listening to it? This IS rock not emo, emo is stuff like Escape The Fate and Blessthefall

Hell emo is music. Emo means emotional, so any music with emotion is emo

  • @dano555666

dude just get out. meshuggah is just mashed up collected notes. sometimes music doesn't have to be groundbreaking. you don't have to reinvent the wheel for it to work.

  • @dano555666 Just listened to Meshuggah, fucking awful; and I agree with arbpotatoes, 'mashed up collected notes' describes that band perfectly. I'm not saying this band is great either, but it isn't as awful Meshugga... How did metal come up, anyway? This is can hardly be called rock.

  • @dano555666 Excuse me? No passion? Listen to Karnivool - "All i Know", or perhaps "New Day"

You sir are a tit if you judge something by one song, and you call yourself a lover of music? Please....

Yes those band that you listed are good, i'm not arguing against you, but when you slag off other bands in this world..

I'd like to see you do better...

  • @dano555666 Periphery love this band so your opinion is invalid period.

  • @dano555666 A+ For failing.

    Your new to do list.

    Listen to themata

Tell us all what it's about

You get it close, ill accept the fact you might know something about music and understand that this comment was something to do with your time of the month.

    You get it wrong. Nothing

  • @dano555666

your talking **** my friend......if you dont like fuck off am stop moaning

This is rock...not emo or metal..ever heard of ecape the fate, a day to remember, enter shikari ?? they are emo. I dont get how you can call this music emo ?

  • @dano555666 Factory and Tool are not metal.? At all

Listen to things like Resist The Thought, This city Ignites, As i Lay dying, I killed the prom queen..

  • I don't mind this song but the lead singer breathes really loudly after every line and it's bloody annoying.

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit

Yeah, with some bands I notice their really loud intake and it gets extremely distracting. Ughh -_- now I notice it for this song.

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit I didn't hear it before reading your comment, argh :[

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit Dude if your really focused on his breathing, then your a retard, stop being an Annoying little shit....

  • @sepetinswenze how can you NOT notice it?

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit hahahaha i hate you now you made me notice i cant unhear it

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit - It adds more emotion I reckon

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit its the effect?

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit Haha thanks for noticing, now thats the only thing I pay attention to. XD It is defintley annoying.

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit DAMN YOU! Hehe.

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit aw i never realised that, now it's all i can notice. ROFLL

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit

Personally, I prefer the deep breaths that prove he's singing than everyone's current pitch-perfect synthesized sound.

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit

thanks for bringing mi attention it, the song is now ruined :L

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit

I'm noticing it now, thanks for that :(

  • Comment removed

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit Personally I love it. Most bands just edit out their breath in the studio. Without surprise Ian Kenny most probably recorded most his songs in not more than a single take.

I think the breath gives the song a much more realisted live, imperfect sound. Grow to love the breath :]

  • @SYPRESS17 wow thanks for that.. i never noticed the breath and now its annoying the shit out of me WOWOWOWOWOOWW

  • @SYPRESS17 no, i saw them live last night, no breathing noise at all!

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit

That's what makes it sound natural, had you removed the sound of breathing it would sound real robotic.

  • @bogdanbus yeah but it sounds like he's just resurfaced after 10 minutes of holding his breath underwater, NOT like ordinary people breathing while singing. I have never heard ANYONE breathe like that while singing, and I know a lot of people who sing.

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit It's not how he breathes, it's the bad compression work put in his vocals.

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit

he´s the best australian singer 2 years in a row ;) his main band is named "Karnivool" and they´re much better

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit

dude the breathing just gives the song more emotion

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit Oh shit. Now that's all I hear! haha

  • @pantsman6 you hear it a LOT less live...

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit i didn't even notice until your post. i hate you lol

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit After you pointed that out I like the song slightly less for that reason now lol

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit hahah, didnt notice until you said it

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit God damn it. I cannot unhear the crazy little gasps now. Some heavy breathing works, but this is really obnoxious. :|

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit considering how awesome his voice is i think he's earned the right to do whatever he wants and if they dont want to edit out the breath in post, then good for them

  • @AnnoyingLittleShit Doesn't every song do that? I know Chester Bennington constantly breathes after every line in Linkin Park, but LP will always be a wonderful band.

  • @lepetitpote automatic like for talking about LP and BOT in the same paragraph ^.^

  • @lepetitpote

Really? check their last album out?

  • And That Was Better Than All Those Stupid Hollywood Thrillers By Far. Maybe They Should Take Some Tips From This.

  • ok, i know this is karnivool´s lead singer, ok, you have to admit that, at least, this is "good shitty music". Being that said, this discussion about the Tool-Apc comparation is just not valid, because both bands (tool-apc) are fucking great.

Karnivool is just an epic band, BOT is just a good mainstream pop rock band made for, well... rip off little kids. :D

  • @grohlgrohl While BoT definitely has a more mainstream "pop" feel, I don't begrudge them for it. If Kenny and crew can bring a little talent to the mainstream, as opposed to all the soulless garbage that normally fills the genre, I find no fault in it.

  • @gimmevideosbish

    My feelings exactly.

I hate how everyone hates pop just because they have decided to like rock, automatically feeling that all pop sucks. The amount of times I have tried to tell them that just like there is good rock and garbage rock there is also good pop along with the garbage pop.

  • I really like the chorus :D

  • Ian Kenny is the man!

  • Seein these guys 2nite!! whoooop whoooop!! :D

  • @mixboy32: I'm pretty sure YOU suck huge dick.

  • telecaster ftw!!!!

  • I hate my melody's isn't even on youtube...?

  • @starwarsnerd4life ignore this :)

  • @starwarsnerd4life The name of that song is 'Head in my hands' :)

  • Karnivool are still making music with this guy right? D=

  • @zausS4L Well they're touring and Ian's still singing for them, so I assume so. It's just like Maynard from Tool. He does APC and Puscifer too. Doesn't mean they're gonna split.

  • @Needlefeet17 Uh APC has pretty much split. They might do a few more songs...definately no overseas touring. Bad example sorry. Hope you're right about Ian Kenny though....it'd be a shame for him to leave either band.

  • @beyondyourreality He's still with Tool and as far as I know Puscifer is still releasing, right?

Although I'd understand why he wouldn't. I remember him talking about his life and how he hates being recognised and that he just wants his child to have a normal life.

  • @Needlefeet17 Good point. On both accounts. The recognition would certainly have its ups and downs.

  • the intro to this song instantly reminded me of the song Cosomonaut by At The Drive In

  • Class band, really really good. check out dead letter circus if you like these guys. Australia have some serious talent, too many good bands :)

  • from perth but i missed them : /

  • Aussie bands are the best in the world..... B.O.T and dead letter circus and karnivool and many machines nine are the new era

  • @kritchly

Don't forget cog and the butterfly effect.

  • DUDE :D

I got recommended by my friend.

She is now my best friend.

    THIS. IS. AWESOME. :D

  • Karnivool are pretty amazing live.

  • pretty good but i would have to say i like karnivool better

  • @metalheadofcalgary me too...just saw them incleveland....unreal/

  • @schrodog77 aw lucky if they ever come near calgary i'll be the first to be getting tickets

  • Ian Kenny pissed in my mouth once.

  • @SuperJimmyCracker lucky bastard

  • fucking hell ian kenny is a fucking legend

  • Oooh. I like :D

  • Saw them in London last week.. drove 4 hours for a 30 min set.. lol mint!

  • Yes KARNIVOOL RULES and yes they will blow away Birds of Tokyo any day of the week.

  • theyre 2 completely different bands... u cant really compare them... only thing thats the same is the singer

  • @lowflyer12 people do though...I remember the same debate between Tool and A Perfect Circle....annoys the living piss outta me though

  • So...You're saying that Ian Kenny will blow away his other band? Lol?

  • @vetec4 I don't think so buddy..
