@SessysGrl4Ever Good thing you have your dog. There is a page of Facebook and it is an animal that is lost and her family is not leaving Joplin till they find their dog. :) The dog has been seen many times. If you would like to Like the page. The page name is Bring Hannah Home. :) I am happy you guys are safe. What a calming moment to hear that at least ONE family with pets are safe! I know there are many that are safe but you know what I mean. Please reply!
Please, anyone who is watching this video: consider supporting HMSO and the people of Missouri with prayers and a few dollars. This is the organization that stepped up so wonderfully for the slaughter-bound horses that survived that horrific double-decker crash in MO a few years ago; I'm way over here in Maine and I've been a supporter every since. The tornado victims' pets will be in many cases what little they have left of their former lives.
That is an ignorant statement. Nobody "wants" to leave an animal behind, but given the rapid and ferocious nature of these storms, they may not have the time to find and grab a pet. I'm sure those people are guilt-ridden. Thank goodness we have an organization that can help reunite the animals with their guardians in those situations. HSMO Reponse Team - you're doing an amazing job. And I have to compliment Debbie on being so articulate. You're a great spokesperson for your group.
@amyginsburg whats an ignorant statement? that the people left their pets behind because they only cared for themselves and not the pets? and if they didnt have the time to keep an eye on their pets that means their pets was roaming free and they werent doing their job and taking care of their pets were they? to tell u the truth they left them because they only care about themselves. yes they may care a little but think about it? tbc
@amyginsburg if most people really cared about others then why when it comes down to it when something bad is about to happen everybody starts to push and shove each other for they can try to be safe? can u tell me that? here is an example, on black friday, people were waiting in front of the stores for they can open and when the doors opened they ran right in didnt even wait for the person to move just ran him over like he was nothing killing him by trampling him, just to by a toy. tbc.
@amyginsburg and when everybody got into the store think on how many people wanted to start fights over a toy? how many greedy people just fighting and killing over a toy that is going to probably last 2 or 3 weeks at most. other hand the man who was tramped is dead and no one notices him dead till till the ambulances came. how pathetic, when is a toy worth more than a human life? when is life worth more than another? can u answer any of that? i can its easy. but its easier said than done.
i like what y'all are doing but if somebody leaves their pet behind no matter what going on they dont deserve to have there pets back because they dont really care about their pets, i went through hurricane opal and we took our pets with us. to me to have a pet you need to treat it as part of the family if not then dont get a pet. if people dont want to take the time and raise the pets then they dont need to get a pet.
@mdslick1 it is sad that pets got left behind but complaining that the owner is a bad person don't help. think if thos people didn't have the pet and feed it water it and some what love it is way better then the pet to live in a shelter all its life or get put down or beatin by a bad owner. think of how much worse it could be for them pets.
@blownutsmyass i agree with u but think about it this way if the pet gets left behind, how much will it trust u the nest time it happens? and think about it this way if the people really cared about their pets they would take them with them even if it is to take them to a shelter for a few days till the storm passes through. but no they just leave them in the house or roaming free, and everybody wonders why we have strays dogs running around.
@mdslick1 yes i fully understand what your saying. i just wanted you to relize even if these owners are not perfict they are better then what they could be. i would rather a animal be left and killed in a storm then brutally beat every day of its life. that is the point i was trying to make. yes it is very sad people leve them behind. i wouldn't but my dog knows to fallow me when things scare him witch is very good since carrying my kids take both hands and hes a BIG dog lol
@mdslick1 Wow. Great ignorant statement there, because tornadoes are JUST like hurricanes, right? These people had minutes/seconds, to get into basements, closets, or bathtubs. Sorry they made their children or spouses safety a higher priority. Many people have lost their own lives when they left their storm shelters to go get their pets - Ohio tornado '10. People don't even know if their relatives are dead, they have no food/home, so focusing on their own survival makes them a bad pet owner?
@mdslick1 Also, I'd like to point that you accuse all the dogs running around in the debris must be because their owners left them outside during the storm. Houses were completely destroyed. People got sucked out of their cars and houses, much less animals. Plenty of animals hide during storms. With a tornado coming you don't have time to run around and find them. The fact you compare this to a hurricane is laughable. Educate yourself because you have no clue what you are talking about.
I am thankful that the HSMO exists and that they are there to rescue the animals. Thank you for all you do.
