I have the Petula Clark version, however, Anne Shelton is a favourite of mine too. It happened in Adano, If you ever fall in love again and A kiss in the dark are just 3 of my favourite AS tracks
i bought this version of sailor its still sounds great to me. she made many records in the 1960s does anyone have any for posting it would make my day.
what a beutifull voice i was an apprentice in a very noisyjoinery shop in the sixties and this song we used to sing over the machines love annes voice
finally got hold of it, great song, heard so many times on air from the radio in the 50s, then slowly disappeared as radio DJ s playing this sort of oldies getting less & less, so pleased to find it on youtube.. ,
Thank you for posting.Anne was without doubt the best female singer since the early 40s. A rich mezzo-voice she could have been a classical singer which she proved in a glorious version of Greensleeves with enormous orchestra. I know classical singers who consider her version as a standard!!! In my country Holland they would say to young arrogant singers:Who do you think you are,Anne Shelton?! which explains how admired she was over here. Her album with Irish Folksongs is a real gem.Great person
A fantastic song and pic show. My eldest brother jonined the RN in the 60s when this song was played a lot on Sunday radio (2 way family favourites). I joined the RN in 1970 (Falklands in 82) loved the song then and still do. Really can identify with the pics. Brilliant! xx
What a wonderful tribute to a wonderful lady. Your photos are beautiful too. Are they of your family? They remind me of my childhood. Thank you for sharing them.
what a beautiful tribute to your mother. She must have been a lovely lady. So apt that you chose Anne. My parents were quite good friends with Anne Shelton. They met in Italy in the early 60's. She was such a wonderful person. I think she would have been delighted with how you have incorporated her song into your tribute.
Thank you....I saw many outfits that I once had....LOL...Thanks again....and your parents were gorgeous as were all the others in your video...lovely song choice ...Lovely
This is very good, but has anyone heard the version sung in German in the 60's? I think the singer was a woman named Lolita--that version was awesome.
Thanks for the posting lovely pics, and the Delightful Anne Shelton What an unforgettable voice like velvet chocolate one of the Englands greatest female singers and Sailor I think more polished than Pet Clarks version BRILL,
Are you sure your mother wouldn't be mortified with her photos being in the public domain?

BRT: I joined the RN in 1965, and my mother used to sing this song in the pub. I wasn;t really embarassed, cos she enjoyed itso much.

Anne Shelton sang the song "I.T.A.LY " (means I trust and love you)
It was very popular in the late fifties.
If anyone has this, please share with everyone.
Would appreciate it very much

If You want to hear The German version that was a big hit in 1960 it is in YouTube. Go to search and put in Lolita Sailor (Your Home is the sea)
