  • One of the real greats, and the originator of a lot of the electric guitar showmanship and chops that we have seen over and over again. Cool West Coast style, much jazzier and different than Chicago (which I love also). I was fortunate to see T-Bone the year he died at the now defunct La Bastille in Houston... they had to practically prop him up onstage but he still played some insightful, cool riffs. One of the many who toured all the way to the end.

  • Gibson ES-5 Electric Archtop (3 P-90s)

  • YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH BUDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fuckin' this is WILD !!!! Fuck the 1 bat turd skin head who said dislike. This is what is and always will be!

  • Great vid of one of the great player's of the blues. gotta love the sound of those P 90s in that old Gibson Gitter.

  • technical, soulful, pristene. thank you t-bone

  • dig how he does whole tone riffs at 3:44, I saw TB live once in maybe 68, he tore the house down and a big house it was, an all day gig at the Hollywod Bowl called Guitar Explosion with many other greats, Roy Buchanan, Burrell, Pass, 17 year old Robben Ford...

    l

  • Beautiful groove and soul.

  • No you hears tons of T-Bone in Hendrix

  • AM I going loopy or do I hear tons of Hendrix in these riffs?

  • Wow...

Now this is REAL music. :)

  • I agree with irondragsportster,...T-Bone was born in Linden, Tx. (incidentally, where Don Henley was born years later)....and T-Bone played in Dallas and on the "chitlin circuit",..(blues clubs in the south )...in his younger years,...Recorded a double-sided 78 record in Dallas in 1929, ("Trinity River Blues", and "Wichita Falls Blues")He is believed by some biographers to be the first musician to perform playing the electric guitar. B.B King says he heard T-Bone, and bought an electric guitar!

  • @nazzfreak53

Always difficult to say who did something first. For example George Barns (white kid) played electric guitar on Jazz Gillums 14/3/38 Boar Hog Blues, recorded in Aurora Illinis. Bafrnes was on 5 other tracks titles Gillum also had Broonzy on electric in 45 & Willie James Lacey in 47.

  • What year was this

  • I´m Speechless, Genius

  • nice suit

  • he is silky smooth

  • Hmmm... Just one Justin Bieber fan...

  • one thumb down. Sure some lady's Gaga fan was lost around there, don't worry. & sure JC saxophile, 3:42 kills.

  • ...oh that is just so fine.

  • Ooooooh, he went "whole tone scale" on our ass at 3:42!!!!!! Long Live the "Bone"!!!

  • Astonishing to see / hear this after forty years (in my case) of loving the blues. First heard of T Bone when Greg Allman was introducing Stormy Monday on Live at Fillmore East - still one of the best blues tracks I know. What is clear from this is just how much the Allmans, Hendrix and others learned from T Bone. I read that BB King said it was hearing T Bone's 1949 record of Stormy Monday which made him want to play guitar. What a beautiful vocal too.

  • Wow father of Texas Blues ....Sweet

  • One smooth Cat!

  • he truly blows my mind.

  • he broke the high e string

  • He sure makes that old guild talk, and what a voice!

  • @irchristo Thats a Gibby ES5

  • Sweet. The original guitar god!

  • 0:42 thought he was going to play with his teeth lol

    awesome stuff btw

  • @metstomp Haha, that made me laugh out loud! =D

  • Amazing mix of blues and jazz riffs - and all without stomp boxes and other effects - wow - great to hear the origins of what I've listened to for years!

  • Does somebody knows why do he use to hold his guitar this way?

  • wow the master of hurt riffs

  • Awesome video - love the music and the performance!

  • heyyyyyy baby i like what you've been puitin' down too!!

  • hes so unique ,and original for the 50s 60s

    voice and guitar playing

    he s the texas blues!!!!!

  • iis a real example of origin of the popular music of the twentieth century,

mainly Rythm'n'blues and own Rock'n'Roll itself.

the riffs are played there used to date, only one I know that many musicians or bands of blues guitarists from Brazil and the United States of today are trying to reinvent something already done and sated by these generations of T Bone. I loved what I saw.

detail, the bass is super on the basis of acoustic harmony.

    give one!

  • Here's one from the Godfather of the electric blues guitar; the fabulous T-Bone Walker

  • One of the original masters of the blues. Timeless and classy.

  • What a performer. this clip is fantastic. thx

  • the blues had a baby and they named it rockandroll

  • Ha you can tell Jimi Hendix was influenced by him. Its almost as if its a spitting image of audio.

  • it dont matter if he was playing a spare tire

    THIS is blues

  • Any terminology regarding correct/imperfect is absurd. It's a mental block. If you were blind and no one told you, you would never know. In that case, lefties playing right handed instruments are wrong also, but I've heard of them, and never heard of you.

  • aint he good

  • All of the people who keep nagging about how he doesn't hold the guitar correctly, listen to what the intro says. That's what blues is about. Blues isn't about a perfect technique and stance and making the guitar sound like it's payed by a robot.

  • oh yeh when hendrix plays behind his back or when hes essentially makin furious love to it thats not really playing correctly is it?but then what we'r all those ppl at monterey on about when the said they were 'blown away', are they sayin they were 'blown away' by a guy who couldnt play the guitar correctly, na i think what there saying is that irregardless of how u play it as long as u can melt faces an make white women scream ur playing the thing btter than correct

  • listen folks he doesnt hold gutiar the proper way but ok big deal man he can still play and he can play 1 of the best as long as you can make that kind of sound the way tbone did in reality who cares how you hold gutiar upside down for all i care thx

  • Wish I'd seen this bloke live.

  • yeeeeaaaahhh, what THE goooodddd bluuuesss! :)

  • Great video of one of the real greats...just wish I could see his fingers more clearly!

  • @mystro810

we all love the blues, but no need to hate on the metal. i grew up with blues and classic rock, but i still like metal =D

    anywho.... T-BONE PWNS ALL

  • blues is so much better than metal. I really dislike metal style. metal is so 1 dimensional. Hendrix took T bone Walker blues and added outer space magic. there is no limit in blues playing, it can be anything

  • @mystro810 the problem with metal(and rock) today is that these bands seem to have forgotten about their roots. Blues is roots music.

  • @mikexlong You got that right. I hate to use the term "dead" when describing rock n roll but Rock is definitely asleep right now. It wont ever die. someday somebody will breathe new life into it again like Kurt Cobain did once upon a time. Modern bands seem to have no knowledge of the blues legends of yesterday

  • @mystro810 I'm on it lol.

  • @mikexlong hahaha. thats funny. so am I

  • @mystro810

    Ignorance is bliss, eh?

  • @ASdkekbur you must be a metalhead

  • @mystro810

I mostly listen to metal, yes, but I enjoy pretty much all genres. Including blues.

  • @mystro810 Greg Howe

  • @mystro810 Newsflash, douchenozzle: My Chemical Romance is not, in fact, a reliable basis on which to base one's opinion of a supergenre spanning hundreds of subgenres.

  • @mystro810 you obviously don't know much about Metal. =)

  • T bone influenced every guitar player that followed him.

  • Well he's got his strap in front of his neck for starters. Other than that he's just a great gut bucket player. Notice he really doesn't go beyond straight inner partials--7ths and 9ths is as far as he goes. It's his fabulous vocals that complete the deal.

  • @beachboytriad can yew shew uz how two hold gutiar correctly

  • @ beachboytriad, He holds it like that to get a Warmer tone,

  • And That's why I love the blues.

  • i know so many excellent bluesmen but t-bone takes you to a different universe....

he was building bridges between blues and jazz and inspired most of all modern bluesguitar players....god bless him!

  • Like the first words, blues in one sentence

  • What's so amazing is that, all guitarists can play the same exact notes and still have a totally different feel and sound. That's what make blues so special. Pure heart and soul...it's what you put into it.

  • I love the Hendrix and SRV style, I mean I REALLy love it. But I also know where it comes from. Amazing stuff!

  • This is one the major legendary old school players along with Muddy and the rest of the gang.

    Harlingen, Texas

  • does anybody know what's the title of this song?

  • "Don't Throw Your Love On Me So Strong"

  • cheers mate

  • what a tone!!!!!!!! amazing!

  • T-Bone was post WWII where acoustic Blues was just meeting Electric Jazz...T-Bone could do both! Some say T-Bone got Electric Blues started...Many copied T-Bones riffs...Either way, T-Bone should be in the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame! HE built the foundation!!!!

  • He is in the Rock N Roll hall of fame. Inducted the 2nd year of its existence in 1987. They leave out quite a few people, but they didn't overlook the great T-Bone Walker.

  • I can't believe T-Bone and Charlie Christian were friends!Chuck Berry took alot from both.

  • @irondragsportster im pretty sure he was inducted into the rock n' roll hall of fame

  • @SuperRedGames yes he was introduce in 87 as an early infuence in rock

  • @SuperRedGames he was....as an Early Influence

  • rockhall.com/inductees/t-bone-walker/bio/

  • @irondragsportster Got my vote.

  • @irondragsportster he is in the rock and roll hall of fame and the blues hall of fame

  • @irondragsportster Well Said!

  • Thanks ...Gibson Guitars corp. for the post wow...really .

  • Wow! he had so much emotion in his playing and body lanquage, I thought this might just be an instumental, and then his vocals came in so strong,It made me see how much the music was real! It almost seemed like a multi million dollar music video where every thing had to be just right then remixed 12 times and 12 takes, but it was just...class!

  • Thank God he came along. I hate to think what would have happened if he didn't make his mark. God it feels good.

  • parfait tu es un geant

  • we like it big time T,bone

  • thats the ticket!

  • ahah yeeah man, listen to the first few seconds... thats where Hendrix got the sound for "Red House" from

  • Man, thats just freakin beautiful :-)

    just insanely good!

  • It's too bad we don't have more black artist such as this. This type of music is unpopular in certain groups.

  • I know, they play more C&W on Tv then blues.

  • Wow....just...wow....

    ~Cole~

  • T-bone is a 5 star in singing, guitar playing and songwriting; a very very rare talent. His inimitable guitar work always makes me listen to every single note he hits. He's also got tons of groove and good sense of humor. Just PERFECT. When I "discovered" him in my early 20's, I thought I'd found the definitive bluesman for me. 35 years later my conviction is even stronger.

  • One of the truly great bluesmen of all time!

  • You better recognize!

  • Man, think Stevie Ray when you watch this, at times they are one in the same, listen to the tones, dead on in parts, with completely different equipment, SRV did some T bone listenin' as a youngun!!!

  • T Bone Walker just sucks you in and covers you in oooh. The man was special and thanks for posting such a great video of him.

  • Hi It`s BEAUTIFUL !!!!!!!! NAThan M.

  • This guy had his own touch and feeling. When I hear him I immediately feel a special mood. There's something special in the atmosphere, something like a magical fluid. I think this is what we all call the blues. He was as true as the truth. Guys like him are rare.

  • it's all here. these were the licks that BB, Clapton, Page, and countless others took influence from. he was one class act. RIP T-Bone

  • Hendrix,Stevie Ray Vaughn,Johnny Winter, and many great guitarists were heavily influenced by "Texas" T-Bone Walker. His playing was nothing short of exquisite, and he was one of the first bluesmen to go electric.THANK YOU T BONE, & Thank YOU for posting this gem!

  • He sounds like he is on record: impressive. What a class act he was, and has some sympathetic piano supporting him. Thanks for the posting...

  • Wow T-bone singing Albert King's song(Albert King's no#1hero)"Don't through ur love on me so strong".

Guitar players have had hell tryin' to copy T-Bone.

He's the father of electric Blues .

  • T-Bone, for you, I'd run all through the jungle fighting lions with a switch.
