  • The Tux Of DOOM!!

  • all i heard was threatening enterprise 2:04

  • I think I just fangasmed myself to death.

  • Patrick Stewart and David Tennant? *melts and dies*

  • His hair is too neat. It needs to be sticking up.

  • 2:19 what kind of bow was that??

  • Make it so.

  • 3:39 all I could think was"everybody knows that everybody dies, none more so than the Doctor"

  • I wish my Neanderthal gaming brain could understand this.

  • @warhawkbm Trust me, My good neanderthal; This is some seriously good shit.

  • at the end, Fortinbras invades with his army of cybermen and borgs

  • wow all we need now is a dalek and a sentinel ;)

  • David Tennant is undoubtedly one of the finest and most versatile actors ever to grace the world of the arts. He is absolutely brilliant in all he does, and Hamlet is one of my favourites. I simply love Tennant in all he does- a brilliant actor of all sorts :)

  • Captain Picard is wearing a bowtie now. Bowties are cool.

  • Why do you all have to make Doctor Who, and Star Trek/XMen Jokes?? This is neither. This is why actors get so upset, Tennant could do ten years at the west end as Hamlet, and one as Doctor Who. More poeple would know of his tenure as the doctor than Hamlet. Yikes. It's upsetting. You're doting on his former proffession, rather than this current, beautiful piece of work.

  • @DrPerryc0x Very well said! My thoughts exactly!

  • Hmmm..The Doctor and Captain Picard?

...This seems like a Star Trek/Doctor Who crossover in the works...

  • I'm not the only who giggled when Patrick Stewart said "Enterprise", right?

  • David looks like someone crapped in his cereal at 5:00

  • i think this is now sharing 1st place together with kenneth branagh's hamlet as my favorite hamlet production.

  • What did they do to Tennant's hair?

  • David in a suit...speaking Old English...being the sexy, angsty, and amazing Hamlet...mmm...yeee~ This is the version I wish my English teacher had shown us

  • @Faichan

She would dare not do that because none of the females would think about the play but instead on how they are inexplicably attracted to David Tennant. English teachers must think about those things.

  • @VanillaOrchid95

Yeah unfortunately that's too true. Although my AP class was a bunch of lunatics that hated Doctor Who so I'm not so sure we would have had that problem. But still it's sad because this is the best rendition of Hamlet I've ever seen.

  • Heheheh I remember the first time I read this play, absolutely loving the almost unbearable tension...

Claudius is like, "SO NOW EVERYTHING'S FINE, RIGHT? YES? EVERYBODY'S HAPPY" and Hamlet's looking like somebody shit in his cereal. "Mothafucka, that ain't 'happy'...nephew's got his murk-face on, you need to stop trying to Touched-by-An-Angel his ass, he doesn't LIKE YOU"

  • Any chance you are going to put the entire video on youtube? You may be missing some parts.

  • Wow...when did Captain Picard get...old?

  • David, why u always look so sexy? >_<

  • LOL his face at 5:00

  • Tennant is so good at looking heartbroken...

  • The Doctor vs. Professor Xavier? 0,0 Holy crap.

  • @SwizztheWolf5 this is exactly what i was thinking xDD

  • @SwizztheWolf5 The Doctor vs Captain Picard D:

  • @SwizztheWolf5 mind blown

  • @SwizztheWolf5 His name, is JEAN-LUC PICARD.

  • @SwizztheWolf5 its The Doctor vs. Captain Picard

  • @SwizztheWolf5 Doctor would winn :)

  • thanks for this

  • Warp 9, engage. Alons-y!

  • @eternalgreenknight WE'RE GOING THROUGH TIME! We're in the Delta quadrant. *Doctor who intro with star trek*.

  • David: Time

    Patrick: Space

    Me: Jizz

  • Ok, seriously David. When you do your hair like that you lose nearly all your cuteness. MESS IT UP AGAIN!!! PLEEEASE!

  • @slightlyinsaneFTW he looks like barty crouch!!!

  • @Sidneygurl Well, they are the same actor, but I get your point.

  • Oh Patrick Stewart, you and Derek Jacobi are tied for the best Claudius I've seen!

  • Poor Hamlet :''''[ <3

  • Comment removed

  • Oh i miss the Doctor's crazy hair. He has such awesome hair there and here its kinda weird all tamed and whatnot.

  • Barty Crouch Jr ....*_* wow

  • The Borg and a Dalek dislike this.

  • Make it so, Polonius!

  • We need to find a teenager who can do Shakespeare. The raw aimless unbridled anger of the young man hamlet is not scene, but David Tennant is awesome]

  • This is Captain Picard talking to the Doctor! Best Clip EVER!

  • @TheDudar not to mention professor X!

  • Why does David have his hair plastered back like that? He looks less cute!

  • David Tennant looks weird without his pinstripes and converse

  • guuhhh too many nerdgasms...david tennant, patrick stewart...bllargh blargh blargh

  • Patrick Stewart is a brilliant actor; however, to me, as well as to many others, he will always be Captain Picard.

  • Sir Patrick Stewart is AMAZING with Shakespeare

  • Best. Hamlet. Ever!

  • Tennant is so cute when he's angsty and bitter. XD Haha.

  • @cooliohooliokid - "A little MORE than kin and less than kind" - "more" because Claudius is both Hamlet's uncle and stepfather and "less" as he has "unkindly" married his mother and usurped the crown or simply that he does not think he is being genuine - this depends on ones interpretation. And also as Claudius has just referred to him as "our cousin and our son".

  • Never have I hated Patrick Stewart so much!!! CLAUDIUS!!! You're EVIL!!!

  • Picard and The Doctor! O_O

  • 2 dislikes! why so crossed, Prince Fortinbras?

  • David is great in this, but the hair just doesn't fit him.

  • David is such a brilliant actor. It's not easy to pull off a Shakespeare role, and to speak in the old language. But he does such a fantastic job with it!

  • I want Gertrude's dress.

  • Go Laertes. Make it so!

  • Brilliant. Just absolutely brilliant. -3

  • God, Tennant is SUCH a brilliant actor! he's captivating. :)

  • Wow... David Tennant and Patrick Stewart! This is so perfect!

  • David's face! My god is he expressive with just a look. He's such a brilliant actor!

  • I absolutely love how expressive David's face is. The lines of his aging, even though he looks incredible amazing, make his acting even more interesting.

I miss that in the new Doctor, the life experience of David.

And I love Hamlet, I'd like him to be recognize not just for DW but for his amazing talent in general.

  • I can proudly say that in addition to being the second time I've seen Patrick Stewart in a Shakespearean production, the first time was in the flesh, playing Prospero in a dress rehearsal for The Tempest.

  • Stewart is much better as Claudius here than he was when he played w/Derek Jacobi.

  • lol...can't take Tennant seriously as a tragic character...

  • i can only pray that we watch this in English Class someday...

  • Polonuis is hilarious.

  • @MrArturoui Love how Hamlet is always making fun of him, he's a political clown.

  • I don't understand what people liked about this. Take Claudius for instance. Do you look at him and think how this man is a liar, an adulterer, and a cold blooded killer? I'm not saying he should wear vampires teeth, but he has none of the facial and vocal tics befitting such a man. Stewart's Claudius just seems blank and amateurish.

  • @TheHandsomeCrab I can understand what your getting at, but I think he's more subtly cunning then downright crazy. I think he seems cold and manipulating because all his happy-happy talk is an act and that makes him to me even more evil. Anyway, each to their own.

  • @TheHandsomeCrab That's the point. He's not going to run around with blood on his hands is he. He's so smooth and manipulative that he managed to slip infront of Hamlet even though he's not the rightful King. It's the whole essence of his character. Surely you know the Lion King which is based on this play. Simba never suspects Scar as a child, and nobody questions Scar over Mufasa or Simba's death, because of his position in power.

  • @MrArturoui I don't think that Young Hamlet is rightfully king, as such. The title of king would often pass on to the King's son, but not necessarily. The King could name another heir, or the council could elect someone else. The line of succession wasn't as we know it now.

  • @Eruadhiel in the play Old Hamlet's Will is never mentioned or even made a point of. Therefore, automatically, Hamlet is king. But Claudius is a sneaky devil who married his mum. Making him King. And the line of succession is the same. The play mimics the English monarchy (Gertrude and Claudius like Henry VIII and Catherine/Aragon). It's partly a satire in that sense.

  • Tennant AND Stewart in the same production......how is it the universe didn't explode from the sheer awesomeness?

  • @ShamusOFox It did....the Doctor fixed it though.

  • Captain Piccard and The Doctor :D

  • Oh, gosh. I didn't recognize David because of his hair! (O_o)

  • Were watching this in my third hour

  • AMAZING. I ACTUALLY understood Hamlet.

  • "A little more than kin and less than kind." Tennant is a fantastic Hamlet. :)

  • So the dead kings name is hamlet ? :/ I always thought that was the prince's name.

  • @grandchildofchaos The son was named after the father. It's wasn't all that unusual at the time.

  • I'm so used to seeing David with messy hair. xD

  • HAHAHA the guy plaing hamlets new dad (i forgoten the name HAS SUCH AN OBVIOUS BALD CAP AT 4:55 lol

  • @NCcarterTV Patrick Stewart? He is naturally bald, so that is really his bald head, no cap there sir!

  • @1Amaya1 O.O (lets hope he dosnt see this other wise .....) My bad i asked my mum if she knew who it was she said nope so i assumed it was a bald cap My bad

  • @NCcarterTV Patrick Stewart is bald. There is no cap.

  • "Cornelia, set a course for Norway. Warp 9, engage!"

  • @Brokevegetable Nice! LMAO!! I love it!!

  • Hamlet's sarcasm <3

  • I love this part because everybody's happy and Hamlet's like "No."

  • @AliceInHipsterLanddd I find it so funny as well.

  • Rory Kinnear is much better as Hamlet

  • @pa2pb No, David was better, in my opinion. John Simm was the best of the lot, though!

  • Patrick didn't even need to memorise the words, he's probably done this so often it comes naturally

  • The...the hair...it's gone...the sticky-uppy hair's just...gone...

  • One of the best scenes, however the only thing i have against it, is that since they're talking about Hamlet being in deep mourning and he goes on about why he wears dark clothes, as the costume designer i would have switched the white dress shirt for a black one. The same holding true for the pocket handkerchief. Because he looks dressed like anyone else. That would have made the scene make more sense.

  • @mei975 I agree. That was bothering me too... XDD

  • 2:02 he says Enterprise. Help me.

  • @iAnasazi Ha! Is it wrong that I keyed in on that too?

  • david tennant is without a doubt the best and most awesome actor ever... i miss his doctor who hair though :P

  • I'm sorry, but I can never take Patrick Stewart seriously in movies like this. I keep expecting him to suddenly stop and say "Computer, end program." I watch too much Star Trek. =/

  • Wow. I LOVE Hamlet. I have been studying it for years and I have seen all, yes, literally ALL, of the adaptations available on video and DVD, as well as a few plays and read various versions, and I must say that watching Patrick Stewart play Claudius again was absolutely remarkable! The man is brilliant! He actually wrote an essay on how to play Claudius. The way they chose to end this particular version was exceptionally moving, as well. When he died reaching for Gertrude I got goose bumps!

  • Guys, David Tennant is really good, but he's the second best actor in this. Since Patrick Stewart is basically the greatest actor ever

  • thank you so much for uploading this!

  • This cast was brilliant, and Patrick Stewart was nothing short of amazing, and David Tennant, well, he was brilliant :) really really love the directing too!

  • David, well done.

  • 'unmanly grief.' Burn!

  • i don't know which one i prefer, david tennant or patrick stewart

  • Can anyone explain the significance of the CCTV in this adaptation; I've forgotten, it's been a while since I've seen it.

  • @DuskAndHerEmbrace13 I think it had something to do with 'being watched'

Later on Hamlet rips one of the cameras out of the wall before beginning a monologue with "Now I am alone", which could support that idea, although I'm not really sure

  • holy shit. Professor Charles Xavier!!! wheres your wheel chair?!?!

  • I do believe that this film is the definition of a "nerdgasm"

We have The Doctor and Captain Picard and it's Hamlet. I don't think there can be much more nerdiness put into one film.

    Love it.

  • @SilentEcho2 If they could somehow fit The Doctor and Picard and Magneto into one play...

  • The first published version of the play says Yorick dies 11 years already before Hamlet comes to his grave. The olater version it is 21 years. Hamlet is around 5-7 year old when he is carried on Yorick's back, meaning at the present time of the play, Hamlet is 18 according to the first version, and 28 according to the second version.

I still wonder why there is the difference in the years stated though. odd?

  • This is the best "Hamlet" version I have seen sofar.

Other versions, the actors portray Hamlet are all too old. Hamlet is supposed to be young around twenty because he has just returned from studying in England.

  • Patrick Stewart as Claudius? David Tennant as Hamlet? More importantly . . . Patrick Stewart as Claudius?!?

    Awesome!!!

  • David Tennant and Patrick Stewart...OMFG!!! This is so amazing!!!!!

(BTW, why didn't we have Patrick Stewart as the Doctor?)

  • davids eyes are so deep

  • I love that Polonius is whispering to Laertes, very few version I've seen actually show the odd theatricality of the court and Polonius as the twisted puppet master...

Any Ucc students out there agree?

and so i don't sound too pretentious... David Tennant is very very pretty

  • Patrick Stewart is much better in this one than in the 1960's version... but I suppose that is because he has more experience in front of a camera than back in the day when he had hair =)

  • i was half expecting david tennan to mess up his hair and run off as daleks burst into the room :/

  • @idiatico or for martha and 10 to burst in the room chased by carrionights?

  • there needs to be a law against trimming david's sideburns and flattening his hair.

  • I literally flinched when I saw his stare.

  • *jaw drops*

If someone can play Hamlet better than David Tennant, respond.

    OMG.

  • @dwviolinist Derek Jacobi blows him away.

  • @Jitpring I know, it's completely shocking that David Tennant thinks that!

  • @dwviolinist DT thinks that Derek Jacobi blows him away as Hamlet, and it shocks you that he thinks that?

  • @Jitpring Um, yes, because David tennant is such a good Hamlet himself! I wonder, does he even realize that?

  • @dwviolinist Have you ever seen Derek Jacobi play Hamlet?

  • @Jitpring No, but I'm planning to compare the two portrayals of David Tennant and Derek Jacobi. I've already seen Jacobi in Cadfael and Doctor Who, and I know he's a very good actor.

  • @dwviolinist Excellent. And I can't recommend strongly enough that you watch him in I, Claudius, which in my view is the greatest miniseries ever. But be careful, it's the viewing equivalent of crack: Once you start watching, you can't stop! It's here on youtube. Start here:

    I Claudius ep1 A Touch of Murder (1/10)

  • @Jitpring Thanks! BTW, I've encountered many a TV show on You Tube that is this "viewing equivalent of crack." Doctor Who is one of them.

  • @dwviolinist I've been meaning to check that out.

  • @Jitpring As I said, Jacobi was in Doctor Who. He plays Professor Yana at the end of series 3. Very important character, BTW.

  • @dwviolinist I had an inside giggle when I thought of that

  • @dwviolinist Patrick Stewart would be the only one, maybe add Laurence Olivier.

  • AND! In the left corner...we have from the police box, travelling through time and space itself to get here tonight in the Intergalactic Ring! DOCTORRRRRR WHOOOOOO!

And, in the right corner, straight from the Enterprise itself! A drinker of Earl Grey tea, and ready to perform the Picard Maneuver on Dr. Who! JEAN LUC PICARRRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDD!

  • tennant looks so crap compared to stewart!

  • @bvzd1

You've gotta admit though, comparing Tennant to Patrick is like comparing wonderful to extravagant.

  • I wish Brent Spiner played one of major characters in this brilliant play - maybe Polonius or Horatio? :-)

  • 2:04 huh...enterprise...huu

  • @MartinGordon100 SET PHASERS TO STUN

  • @MartinGordon100 Trust Stewart to say "Enterprise" - I'm surprised Tennant didn't say "police box" lol

  • polonius the old fart!

really great version really easily understood and all the lines are so much clearer,i don't know how they did it but its brilliant

  • oh my god, david tennant HAS GOT to play The Riddler.

  • @zachcow i could so hear him say riddle me this Bat MAN!!

  • Wow. Simply brilliant. David is the best Hamlet ever. He plays the moodiness perfectly. I could do with out the slicked back hair, though =p.

  • I so very much appreciate David as an actor.

  • I have never been so moved as i was watching this. He is brilliant, brilliant. i never thought to love some thing of this type. I cried when he did. I was heart sick at the thought of him missing his father!!!

  • BWAHAHA the transcribed audio = PRICELESS
