  • Absolutely gorgeous!!!

    Congratulations on your Prize.

  • @YesikitaCoppolaSL thankyou yeskita!

  • You won again? I assume you are report all these Linden Prizes to Internal Revenue? Did you think about sending this link to Obisdia? I think they would be very happy with it as representative of their awesome song?

  • @fuzonacid I had to get permission to use the music, which I got from CoMa, so I would think that Obsidia must have seen this by now, I think she would probably have passed it on. As I am self employed I do actually declare my prize winnings as part of my earnings, along with all my sales from my items on Marketplace and inworld on SL.

  • @ninacamplin

Do you get to claim SL purchases as a deduction? Makes perfect sense as it is an expense. Must look odd on a tax form though. This should be the official Song Video. Do they have one?

  • Congratulations Fuschia, I believe I praised it already, such an innovative concept so well realized

    Friday

  • @2SenseProductions thankyou 2Sense :)

  • Nina, this was one of my very favorite films, and I wanted to congratulate you on your well-deserved award on Sunday. WELL-DONE! This takes an idea I thought I'd thunk up on my own in "Yeah..." and does it even better... lol! I really cotton to the idea of interpreting art in there with art out here and creating something both worlds (whatever you call them) can understand. Nicely and so elegantly bridged. I love the marching!!!!

  • Congratulations for a well deserved award, a very talented and well produced machinima. The music is awesome! Well done.

  • @Bthendor thankyou Bthendor :)

  • It has just been announced that Ithis film won 3rd prize in the MachinimUWA IV awards, which isn't bad out of 80 or so entries!

  • what an interesting debate this has inspired. Eventually, we will lose these terms. "Virtual," remember, means "almost." He's virtually written a book. The term "virtue" came from the L. term vir, "man," so having the attributes of a man. As THAT meaning has disappeared, heh, perhaps "virtual" will simply signify the digital, but understand the need to change these customary terms, especially since outsiders think VR is removed from reality when it isn't. BTW FANTASTIC FILM NINA/FUSCHIA!!!

  • @textcavation thanks textcavation! And yes it is an interesting debate, it has certainly made me think about how to describe my paintings in future, I won't change the description on this video as this discussion won't make much sense if i were to do that.

  • These are gorgeous, but do you think the virtual environments are any less "real" than "RL paintings"? Please consider calling them "physical" paintings, or "non-virtual". Creating a comparison between "virtual" and "real" implies that virtual is not real.

  • @hiropendragon My reason for calling them RL paintings was that they were physically created in Real Life, if i had produced them in a virtual world, then I would have called them 'Virtual Paintings' using virtual as the definition: Not physically existing as such but made by software to appear to do so.

  • @ninacamplin You misunderstand what I said.

Why not call "real life" paintings simply "paintings" or "physical paintings"? By calling physical objects "real" it implies that virtual objects are not real.

  • @hiropendragon I must admit this is an implication that had never previously occurred to me, but I feel reluctant to call them 'physical paintings' as I feel that would imply they have the 'physical' attributes of the build tools and that if you were to hang them on the wall they would fall to the ground and bounce off across the floor! Might be an interesting thing to try out though!

  • I realize, in hindsight, my original comment was not clearly written. Sorry!

  • @hiropendragon It is the standard term used to distinguish between work created physically in real life and work created in the virtual world of Second Life, i.e. users refer to things as either RL or SL, I just adopted a generally known term that is used by artists and creators in SL. This does not mean that the art created in virtual worlds is any less 'real'.

  • @ninacamplin Oh, I know they're standard terms. Ever since Linden Lab chose "Second Life" it's nearly impossible to shake. But terms change and this is one that needs to change, as it demeans the value of art, business, and human interaction in virtual worlds by creating the "not real" comparison. I encourage you to defy the standard terms. People have responded well to "physical world" instead of "real world". I save "real world" for when I'm comparing it to, say, a video game or a TV show.

  • @ninacamplin First, this is is FANTASTIC.

I wanted to chime in here... I've given this a lot of thought since I've been writing about virtual art, and I agree that 'RL' is misleading, although often used. I've made an effort to use 'physical' vs. virtual, and as well have adopted Roy Ascot's terminology of verifiable, virtual, and variable realities. I think we need to be pioneers in using this language, because it's important that we disabuse the notion that virtual isn't real.

  • great idea and brilliantly executed too. truly amazing work.

  • @ArbitDelacroix thanks arbit!

  • Very unique idea and fantastic work!

  • @WayWoW thanks WayWoW, love you too!!!

  • @WayWoW

Well mine sucks compared to this so I am cheating next time. And more Diawa and Angel should help. More latex?

  • @fuzonacid definitely more latex, you can't have too much latex!

  • Very unique approach. Love the part at 3:00- 3:18 minutes when it changes from a painting to the art work and then zooms out with a blurred background. had to watch that a few times. Wow.

  • @majenh thanks majenh, that bit was kind of a lucky accident, i was messing around with the chroma keyer layers and gaussian blurs, and really lilked the effect that happened there.

  • Holy crap! My highest praise...lol.

  • @fuzonacid i am honoured to have you holy crap on my work!

  • @fuzonacid

No problem. I will crap on your work anytime...lol. Truly amazing editing too. I definitely appreciate the creativity n this vid since I know the constraints. I don't think anyone else could have done this and that's saying a lot. One of the best vids I've seen even even outside the SL Realm. Lets hope the judges are on weed and pick mine instead :-). Well beyond anything I've done and I knew you would once you had better tools.

  • I love this! cool concept and nicely executed :)

  • @BleuOleander thanks bleu :)
