My sister is autistic and I have Aspergers. I love reading about it.. Theories etc. but most of all books of people who live it.. I have a hard time living it. but there are times. though rare where I love it. I make so many people but just as many people who look at me like I am indeed stupid. I still to this day try to keep my head up but it is hard. To those who have autism/aspergers do not give up. You are nothing more than an artist who can share to the world your views. You are amazing! :)
@manchildtrollhair and just a note on the sentence 'I make so many people' Its supposed to read "I make so many people laugh but just as many people look at me like I am stupid'. ahhh late night commenting.. Literary Fail.
@nicciweasley yeah for a few years now. there's a group that comes to the camp i work at, so that's how i found them. and i loved the clients i met so in the city i started volunteering with them
I'm in a club at my school that does all kinds of community service projects, and we raised money for a club for mentally and physically disabled children and it was so rewarding :) All of the autistic kids at my school are so nice. It breaks my heart when the assholes in my school are mean to them </3 And it breaks my heart that a lot of people don't understand mental conditions and are insensitive toward them. I'm glad that people like you exist in the world :)
This is amazing, I love this as this is how I personally feel about just many things that people tend to just kind of cannot look past. Sometimes people see an ______ person and not a person with that disability or condition, that is the most frustrating part of it.
There is a graphic novel series that was turned into a J - Drama, it is called With the Light: Raising an Autistic Child by Keiko Tobe who unfortunately died before the series could be finished. It is a fantastic read.
Other good books that deal with autism are House Rules, which, in addition to having a really exciting plot, takes a look not only at the child with the condition, but at how it affects the family as well.
Also the graphic novels "Living With the Light" are very good. They are more from a mother's perspective, discovering her child has autism, learning how to raise him, and the difficulty of trying to get other children his age, and even people her age, to accept him. It is a touching story.
As someone who works with autistic children on a daily basis, I truly appreciate this video. Some understanding of the condition itself and the people who have it is definitely needed in our society.
The genes in my family are filled with autism, adhd, dislexia, thing like that.
Im the only person in my generation (on my dads side of the family) that hasn't been diagnosed with something.
It gets frustrating sometimes because they all try to bite each others heads of and im the oldest so the job of preventing ww3 falls on my shoulders .But I still love then more than anything. I'm constantly surrounded by people who have a different perspective on the world and in a way its defined who I am.
i love this video!!! you should make more that are like this :)
there is also a very good movie called "adam" which is about a guy with aspergers who has to live on his own for the first time, because his father died.
Very sweet, and very true. My ten-year-old son is autistic, and he's brilliant. Thank you.

@Smischmal are you referring to the tardis materializing on top of my bookshelf? in which case, it's a tricky wibbly wobbly phenomenon

@manchildtrollhair Huh, now that I take a closer look, that definitely is the tardis. It all makes sense now. Nice touch.

And I will definitely consider reading those books.
Your personal connection to this topic... Is that from volunteering with organizations?
