Wow, I'm impressed! This made me wish I'd bought the Saturn back in the day. Truly a fantastic conversion and the music is even better than the original. When I see things like this, I wish Sega would return to hardware market.
this game is from another time. a time when games like this were seen as "state of the art". nowadays you need much more to impress people. just taking the outrun concept and dressing it in some pretty graphics wouldn't be enough.
there was a version of Outrun for Saturn? Well I'll be jiggered. I loved this game for Master System - pretty sure I only finished it a couple of times however.
@Naomi0111 It's not really "mame version", as MAME is only an emulator, not a game format. It stands for "Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator". The game you refer to is the ARCADE version (so it's not "arcade PERFECT", but it's just "perfect ARCADE" (: ), which MAME then tries to let function like it would with real Arcade hardware. Of course we would need more accurate definition of what "arcade perfect" even means, people toss it around so carelessly that it doesn't soon mean anything.
@Naomi0111 So, if Outrun was made FOR MAME, then you would be correct. But it's not made for MAME any more than Saturn Outrun is made for Yabause. Calling Sega Saturn version of Outrun "the Yabause version" would be the same as what you did. It cannot be 'arcade perfect', because that would imply it tries to mimic arcades as closely as possible - it doesn't have to, because it already IS Arcade. It doesn't need to be 'arcade perfect', it's already the best version there is,others try to mimic IT

thanks for posting this wonderfull game :-) i love this game as well, i had such a wonderfull time at the arcades way back :-) i was lucky to find this saturn game new at a import shop just 2 weeks after it got released in japan. and it surprised me that the option screen was in plain english ! way to go sega ! 5 stars for this exelent reminder on a game that revolutionized the arcade racing game.
This music is not the original that came with the Saturn version. He overlaid the video with the SST band version of Splash Wave. Still awesome though. :)
if sega released the sega cd a bit later and it would cost less and deliver more power (and they cancelled 32x), this could have been as great as on the saturn
sega cd was such a strange thing but good but they could have waited with theyre genesis and beefed up the genesis,now the sega cd is like a beefedup genesis but what with the limited colours,sega knew everything about good/awesome hardware that was lightyears ahed but i think it would have cost to much and the risk was to high.
chiil out man... I was so fascinated by the game... guess that's why I missed info. Life is to short to get bothered by a few word threw by some unknown "Highlights". OutRun is a friendship game! \:D/

wel let say this the genesis version was the best home conversion at that time it had much intakt and looks better overal then the diminished GBA version.the saturn port is the exact thing while the ports werent sadly but the genesis just gave the closest of all when considering not a direct port.
idd they did good for a genesis,best port of this game except this one is best you can get into youre house cause the music is aranged and it,s that exact.
outrun 2 was basically just a dressed up outrun and it was great.

the mame version is arcade perfect too being the actual arcade rom,i play it loads Outrun is awesome.
