@hiphopson Well I'll say this about Teena. I don't consider her a "blue-eyed soul" singer because she always did R&B/soul music, she was never a pop singer. The artists I highlighted here are known as pop singers who did some R&B sounding songs. Teena was a beast on the mic tho, always loved her stuff.
Love the video. I also love all types of music including these blue-eyed soul grooves. Pls tell me what was the name of the song used on your introduction before Hall & Oates. Thanks!
very very kool.........i commend you on bring this out ...just let me put 1 or 2 in yo ear ...lol...the style council with paul weller - the kane gang-- motor town.
@ilovejesus190 Thanks! I know The Style Council & that song "Motortown", but I wouldn't consider them "soulful", they're much more pop, even euro-pop sounding with American influences.
This is outstanding!!! Great compilation....some groups I've never heard before some that brought back great memories. Yes Dusty Springfield is the queen. Duffy and Adele and others need to bow down to her...Miss Sun is one of my all time favorites. Its on my ipod. Need to add Gino Vinelli "I Just Wanna Stop" that whole CD is great...My favorite Level 42..Mark King the Bass Funk Master. Thanks! :-)
@thruthealcove Hey! I've been good, just been really busy out here.
I LOVE "Holding Back The Years", "Black Water" and "What a Fool Believes" (that's a really good song in my opinion, who is writing material like that these days?), "Portuguese Love" and "Ooh La La."
Oh, and I LOVE Hall and Oates by the way, "Sara Smile" and "Out of Touch." Lately I've been listening to old school psychedelic Peruvian cumbia (i.e. The Roots of Chicha album), do you have anything on that?
@adaku29 Funny, I was listening to Simply Red today, his songs "Stars" & "Say You Love Me". Loved them!!! I don't have any of that, but sounds good, so I may have to seek that out, any suggestions?
@thruthealcove I had "Stars" stuck in my head all day, and yes, I LOVE that song too =)
I can send you a link if you like, but my favorite songs from The Roots of Chicha album are "Carinito" and "Linda Munequita." You should be able to find them if you search on YouTube.
I love Teena, but to me, she's R&B, can't really call what she does Blue-Eyed Soul. I like Joss too, but sometimes I can't help but feel like her "soulfulness" is forced. She has some great songs though. Thanks for watching!!!
Hey sis!!! As you can see I've been away for awhile myself. Glad you enjoyed this one, I love it!!! Hope to hear from you again soon, I'll be back in a few weeks!!!
I keep commenting! LOL I spent the better part of the morning on your page, just loving it! I am learning a lot as well. much more than I knew. I was a kid in the 60's, I knew the artists and loved their sound. But you've introduced me to a lot that are unfamiliar. That's a shame!! But want you to know, I love your page, I'll know where to go when I want more than my IPod is offering me! LOL Thank You for doing what you do. And I must add, your personality brings so much to it as well.
Oh this is just great!!! Thank you for making me & my videos apart of your day, it really encourages me to keep making vids!!! I've got sooooo much more, we're just beginning!!! LOL
@thruthealcove ppl LOVE those courtroom shows; I don't see why they wouldn't want to be on a jury; except for having to work their job. I gig on wknd nights anyway, so I wouldn't miss much work.
Some great discoveries here for me. Biggest surprise was to see Mac Davis included. I've always liked his voice but have never heard him do anything as soulful as this.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOy you look like you have lost weight. I was expecting some Elvis & Teena Marie. But it was interesting......I must buy you Beyonce'e last CD since I know you are a fan lmao.
OMG you treat me sooooo bad!!! LMAO No Elvis & Teena here, but I love me some Teens & Elvis does have his bright spots. I've been hitting the gym hard, just the way I've been trying to for YEARS now, so it's finally paying off, thanks for noticing that. :-)
You would be a movie company or movie directors dream. Do you realize you could be the man behind the man behind man as a movie soundtrack producer? You really should look into this. You are a rare jewel of musical knowledge that could take you to Hollywood, the Tonys, the Grammys, the Oscars, and beyond. One Love.
WOW, you are just too kind for words!!! Thanks for thinking of me in those ways, I'm so flattered!!! I just love music that's gonna feed my soul & take me to places I've never been & this stuff is just a slice of what I mean & I just wanna share that feeling with everybody!!! Much love to you as always!!!
Man, that's what's up, that's why I do these music vids, we need to update our iPods & music collections with stuff that has substance & staying power!!! Good looking dude!!!
When I first started at the refcord label in ATL the guyz sat me down and gave me a talk. THis was one of the talks. @thruthealcove I am too lazy to go through the comments but do you consider Kenny Loggins "Blue Eyed Soul"? Hope you do a part 2! Throw in some Michael McDonald too. :-)
Yes I do & Michael, but I only do rare & hard to find stuff & they're big stars. I did a song by Kenny on my 80's Pop video, "Heart To Heart", that's a blue-eyed soul song.
I'm IMPRESSED ! Thank you so much for sharing. Please do a part 2 for the blue eyed soul. Don't for get about Steely Dan, Elton John, David Bowie, America, Dusty Springfield, Rod Stewart, The Soul Survivors, The Rascals, Sprial Staircase and AWB. WE LOVE YOU, MAN !
