  • no no no no you want eppic the sp 700

  • sounds just like src 475's 8" hooter same pitch but no squeak

  • That's not even close to the best whistle ever.

  • eh not the best but its a coo whistle i had to like it

  • ha really!?!? a hooter!?!?.... bull shit

  • it is not as good as 2-10-0 decapod # 90 at strasburg railroad's whistle

  • The CNR #6060 has THE best whistle ever!!

  • It sounds a lot like an N&W single chime "hooter".

  • that is NOT thwe best steam whistle in the world. im mostly a fan of 3 chimers

  • I love it. Germans have got such good whistles.

  • Try looking up "NZR JA Steam" for a chime whistle: and locomotives working how they should!

  • Bill Maher at 0:13? XD

  • Sounds exactly like Strasburg's N&W No. 475's 8" whistle.

  • whistle sounds like the V&T inyo

  • Its GOOD, sounds like the whistle on the steam locomotive on the train in the American movie "High Noon", if I remember correctly. Sounds like one of our prairie engines.

  • sounds flat and horrible. needs a few more chimes. that whistle is hell to listen to.

  • my opinion on single-chime whistles - put your tongue between your lips and blow air out. yeah.

  • A4 chime whistles are much better than any American chime whistles

  • naaa 3 chime and 6 chimers are better

  • @david245611 - I, too, am a fan of the Reading 6-chime whistle.

  • not even close...

  • VIDEO incorrectly titled... but I do like videos of tracks behind the train?

  • How loud was that?

  • ok ive heard beter, I live in the US of A and we have the BEST whistles and horns ever Created! this whistle is a little lower than ok but im not bragging, or am i...lol

  • Sounds EXACTLY like the 8" whistle on Strasburg's ex-N&W 4-8-0 No. 475.

  • the union pacific forty niner had a awesome whistle and so did this one

  • IMHO somewhat dull & gloomy..

  • European whistles sound fine... but the best whistles in the world are the American ones. Make me shiver whenever I hear one. And no, I'm not American... I live in Europe.

  • I think Santa Fe 3751 has the best whistle.

  • I'll admit its one of the best i've heard, but I've still heard better.

  • hey man which one of the steamers did you have up front that day?

  • it was the 99 7241

  • @TheGondorian cool I got a few shots of that one both running and morning shots in the Wernegerode terminal they sort of just looked the other way at us walking around there shooting pictures..I really liked that run down to Nordhousen I enjoyed the whole HSB system and the standred gauge DB line too with all the old DR steam that pulled our trains but the bouble header out of Wernegerode was the best on the standred gauge but DB would not allow us any runbys though oh well

  • Kinda sounds like Strasburg's 475

  • For Germany, yeah it's pretty good. For America, I personally prefer the whistles off of, L&N 152, UP 3985, EBT #12 and 14, N&W 1218, MILW 261's original whistle, SOU 4501, Eureka & Paliside #4, ex-white pass & yukon #192, and PRR 1361.

  • you hit the nail on the head for american whisltes! This german whistle still sounds very good though.

  • yah never forget 1361 lol

  • @harrodsburgNSfan Don't forget all the Durango and Silverton and Cumbres and toltec K's and 3751 (and 4449's new whistle)!

  • @CoasterFan2105 How could I?! C&T 489 back in the 90s had the most beautiful sounding powell 3 chime whistle I had ever heard!

  • @harrodsburgNSfan Whistles

  • Sorry, i dont share your view. Its gotta be the Britannia Class steam engine for me. Oliver Cromwell specifically.

  • THIS WHISTE IS HORRIBLE

  • Nah, not impressed..... i heard it EBT still the best there is! listen to 14's

  • no way man... Tweersie's # 12 has a 5 chime whistle that's much better

  • Its a 5 inch 3 chime and like you said...its much better!

  • No way man, go to East Broad Top Railroad on here and listen to #14's whistle. That baby is music to your ears! Trust me!

  • What are the GPS coordinates pls?

  • Sogenannte Einheitspfeife. Kommt nix drüber! =)

  • Sounds Like 475.

  • 475??? what do you mean? do you mean the engine number??

  • no. Its in strasburg pa. No. 475. N&W. Thw whistle does.

  • He's talking abut an American steam locomotive that works at the Strasburg Railroad in Strasburg, Pennsylvania. It's N&W(Norfolk and Western RR) No. 475 and it's a pretty big engine. And the whistle on 475 is an N&W 8 inch Hooter whistle; which sounds much like the whistle in this clip. 475 also has a deeper toned whistle(s), the N&W 12 inch Hooter and a 3 chime. I'll add you and send you some videos of N&W 475 in action. It currently pulls trains!

  • @TheGondorian Yeah, I think he means Engine #475, which runs on the Strasburg Railroad in Pennsylvania, USA. And he's right, it does sound exactly like #475

  • @TheGondorian here in america, on the strasburg railroad, they have a steam loco numbered 475. and yes, it does sound like her whistle

  • @TheGondorian its an american engine

  • @TheGondorian Strasburg Railroad 475

  • yea it does!

  • @amtrakboy37 Yes it is the same whistle =)

  • That's a single chime whistle, no doubt.

  • N&W 8 inch hooter dude(single chime). Where did you take this video and what engine is this?

  • it was taken in wernigerode, germany, the engine was 99 7239-9, go for other vids of mine to see it

  • Oh my god, I just checked out some of your videos of this engine. What the hell?! This must be without a doubt an N&W 8 inch hooter whistle! I thought the Hooter whistle was an American whistle only. Well I guess I was wrong.

  • yep, the whistle was first used on these engines in 1898

  • Sounds a bit like an N&W hooter...been a multi-chime guy myself.

  • this a multy chime
