Oh man this is awesome, i get goosebumps when i think of this!!! Still my favourite anime and manga. A part of me wishes though that they would remake this and follow the manga story perfectly this time, kind of like what they did with the Full Metal Alchemist anime.
A waste of my time, the new animation is cheap and shit, they STILL have not adapted the beginning properly (including the bit with the count) and i can't see it lasting, anime is a dying breed, i've met more people my age who've seen chobits and fruits basket than akira or ghost in the shell, it's not what it was. I will buy the DVD and give it a chance to support it as i'm a huge fan and The manga will forever be my favorite manga, but I fail to see the positives in this i'm sorry to say.

To those talking about the CGI: It is awesome looking. With the CGI there are more extravagant battle scenes and smoother frame transitions. Almost all of it is hand drawn anyway. If you are still a stickler about it go read the manga. It's ongoing and outclasses any of the mainstream (naruto, bleach) animes of today in both the story and illustration catagories.
Such CG can make almost every country. But making a 2D animation at such level that you can call it art... That can be made only in Japan, nowhere else. They just stripped an anime of one of the factors that define it. This is my opinion so don't even fuckin try bitching at me.
I am kind of dissapointed, that only people who seem to be interested in these movies, are people who already are Berserk fans. I hoped this would give Berserk new fans and would make more peple aware of the series.

Anyway, one thing you should know. A lot of people felt kind of cheated, when they got to climax of the story (which will come propably in 3. movie). Not really by plot twists, but by the turn of story since that. The thing is, the part of the manga these movies are adapting is one looong flashback and previous chapters made clear, what kind of story Berserk is. Its Witcher/Dragon Age story about revenge and these movies are about what is that revenge for.
I'm definitely one of those Berserk fans you speak of! But I think a modern animated version of it will only do positive things to bring the series a bit more mainstream. If the movie just peaks their interest in the characters, it's done its job and then they can check out the source material, which is fucking awesome lol.
I dont too much mind the cgi animation just as long as its just as good as the original series, but I wish at least they wouldve kept the original sound track of the 90s berserk series . :(
CGI is crap because it tends to produce a result that looks metallic and lifeless. This is why some 3D anime movies use cel-shading to reduce that effect, but it shows through nonetheless.

Why are people calling CGI (3d animation) crap when it produces flawless physically accurate animations? In traditional hand-drawn animation, accuracy of the dimensions of the subject in every frame is dependent on the ability and knowledge of the human animator. I, personally have an idea of how much work 3d animation require. They seem to think that the computer does everything. 3d animation softwares are just tools but they are very complicated and it takes years to learn how to use them.
Im very dissapointed. Its just will not be the same. This cant top the original anime just because this looks like some CGI crap. Maybe it will be more truthful adaption i agree but it makes no difference if it turns out to be something like this. Doesnt look epic at all. Looks unnatural.. You can instantly see especially in combats how computer animated those are. I cant call myself a real fan and I havent read the manga but i can say that real Berserk fan shouldnt like this. Its increasingly common for high quality anime studios to incorporate computer generated animation into their series alongside standard animation. Ergo Proxy, for example makes use of this. The first festival is, and always will be, the core of Berzerk as a series. The following manga wanderings have lost their focus is a massive way. They're crap compared to the Golden Age arc.
I just finished reading ALL of the Berzerk manga over the past few days... I recommend that nobody waste their time, unless you love manga. In which case you've probably already read it.
The story after end of the tv series has it's good parts, but it really can't touch the events of the tv series. It just introduces more side-characters and, in many ways, repeats the cycle already shown on tv, in a bigger (ala dragonball type) fashion, minus the weakness, and motivating factors, of Griffith.

I am so phuqing glad they are doing this. Finally a great manga is going to have its chance at ruling the anime world (go fuccck yourselves naruto and death note fans). This is just the beginning of every Berserk fans wish to santa, finally a series based off the manga, redoing the old series and hopefully carrying out the rest of the manga into animation production. EPIC!

@Brollyhero93TOP10 Dude yeah i know it sucks but this is JUST THE BEGINNNING. If warner bros is backing it and it gets great results, then there's gonna be more movies for sure. They didnt do it this way because in the 90's Miura didnt get a great budget and i mean seriously the anime is nothing compared to the manga so lets hope they just pretend like the original anime never happened..

@bokuzenkosugi from what it looks like they are doing the whole beginning over, hopefully filling in the fantasia parts they took out when they did the anime the first time. I dont care if they leave stuff out again, I'm just glad Berserk it back! Finally gonna see some anime action and story worth watching.

swords too small. guts need a sword that is physically impossible for a mere mortal to carry. it needs to be wider. length is fine. :)

The first festival is, and always will be, the core of Berzerk as a series. The following manga wanderings have lost their focus is a massive way. They're crap compared to the Golden Age arc.

I just finished reading ALL of the Berzerk manga over the past few days... I recommend that nobody waste their time, unless you love manga. In which case you've probably already read it.
The story after end of the tv series has it's good parts, but it really can't touch the events of the tv series. It just introduces more side-characters and, in many ways, repeats the cycle already shown on tv, in a bigger (ala dragonball type) fashion, minus the weakness, and motivating factors, of Griffith.
