  • the end was so true i feel ya !!

  • I dont think that bieing british or american or what ever is an ambarrassing thing instead you should always be proud of where you come from, ther are always those people who will try to let you down!! Hate such kind of people you will have to ignore narrow minded people such as the lady you met :) and it really makes us emiraties upset that other emiraties act in such away!

PROUD TO BE AN EMIRATI THOUGH !

  • I feel you, I've lived in the UAE for 6 years and find being British is embarrassing at times, not because there is anything wrong with being british but because things have been done and said by small minded westerners that hurt and humiliate the culture and beliefs of my arabic friends. Im very happy that there are good positive role models from the western world actively demonstrating that some of us have the respectful upbronging needed to make this world a better place. Hope is were its at!

  • -whispers- ok.

  • عفوا ماكاعد اسمع؟

  • God I hope I marry my Emirati bf lol I love Arabs!! :) you people are BEAUTIFUL! i'm hispanic by the way

  • (whispering) why are we whispering? lol. (still whispering) though i dont know why IM whispering but ermm you made it look fun! haha. And i love the video. :) You do look honored and thats a good thing. Keep the awesome videos coming ok. (whisper ended) lol

  • im arab but im not emarati i just live in the UAE im from saudi arabia and we pretty much have similar wedding almost the same and i think you shouldn't be embarrassed of who you are i think its great that you saw how our weddings go and all come to my wedding next time haha

  • what a joke hope u get beheaded

  • lol good thing u went thro an arabic weeding =D

  • Your damn right about the the emarati weddings , but am emaratiyah my self , but don't be ashamed for being an American , cuz no body blames you for that , you should be proud fro who you are , nice video by the way ..!

  • Not the one I went to. NO ONE was welcoming. Women brought their maids and made them sit on the floor. That was horrible to see.No one said hello to us except the welcoming line at entrance. The food wasnt good. About five women got up to do a very sad "dance", not at thesame time, very B-O-R-I-N-G.I envy your experience. Once we got past entrance, we felt invisible and no one wanted to sit at the same table with us.Would not accept another invitation. Your experience was a lucky one.

  • This sounds similar culturally to the first Morrocain wedding that I had attended, minus some details that vary by country. I am an American too, but I'm proud to have experiences with other cultures and I had a different experience where I actually felt right at home at the wedding. Especailly how everyone is welcoming and wanting everyone to eat, dance, and enjoy the celebration. Also, I couldn't stop eating the roast lamb :). It's important to experience other cultures and see their beauty.

  • As an emarati , I think you discribed the UAE wedding in the right way , and I really want to go to a wedding right now

  • I don't think was all this tension when the ladies found out that u r american, the emirati ladies are the most educated and elegant on the Gulf. I love U.A.E. It's my second country by heart.

  • yeah , that's our Wedding On the United Arab Emirates

We Spend more than 200,000 DHS for One night

Because we believe it's that The First Wedding and Lasted So We have to enjoy

am Very Thanx you for Explaining , I hope to meet you On your country Dubai =0

    ummmm Can I ?

  • its good that an american woman would think like a HUMAN bout our culture

  • Idk why but we arabs tend to be very lavash when it comes to food and weddings. Ive been to a couple of moroccan weddings and they last till 5 am. And there is a crazy amount of food they have like 5 courses of for a type of meat. Chicken dish, then beef. Lol

  • You did a great job at the explanation of wedding ...... good with words...weldone!

  • Thank you so much for sharing this! I have always wanted to know what an Emirati wedding is like!

  • Haha I don't envy you expats living here in the UAE :D

    Must have been nerve wrecking!

  • wow ,, I am studying sociology and am going to specialize in middle eastern studies. I also converted to Islam after my first 2 years in college. I do wear the hijab in America and I can tell you a lot if you ever have any questions..i lived in Chicago in an al Muslim suburb for 2 years in college. If you have any questions about the culture or dealing with the people. So not to feel embarrassed or confused.

  • looooooooool why are you whispering??? heheheehe

  • The hubby was sleeeeping! It was laaaate! But I had to make a video anyway. :)

  • @Ni8inGaLe

its 2 in the fuckin morning u fuck face !!

    so theres ppl sleeping !

  • i cant hear thing or i can say 1of ten words

i guess i heared something about america and obama but really i didnt hear it well becuase my laptop speakers are weak btw i wish you enjoy the wedding and you learned newthings

    take care

  • also, I'm very sorry about the women who made you feel bad at the end of the party !, Be proud!

do you have a blog or something like that in which I can follow/interact with you??

  • I am very pleased and honored to know that you have been to one of our emirati weddings, I really like how you came to the camera and started whispering lol ,,aside from that, I'm an emirati woman currently studying in the U.S at Upitt, I felt exactly the same , the feeling that I was out of place when it was thanksgiving dinner that I had with my good friend :) but it was an amazing experience.

  • This is so cool that you're having a mirror experience of mine! It's wonderful that you're at uni. I bet you've made a ton of friends already. And how special that you were invited for Thanksgiving dinner. How American! I miss pumpkin pie and I bet you miss um ali! Unfortunately, these videos are the only document of my experience here, but I promise I will try to post more. So nice to know you're "tuning in." Salam.

  • Thanksgiving was the most American thing I have yet to experience, turkey, mash potatoes and gravy with pumpkin pie and lemon chiffon pie, it was just great !! and the family feeling was just amazing. I'm done with summer classes and headed bck in two weeks (EXCITED) thankfully I did make some good friends. Living in another culture is liberating in so many ways, I had the chance to see myself in the eyes of others think in ways never thought I would, and be a lot more open minded than I was b4

  • Rai7ana007, I feel the same way about living here. My world view is completely changed. Isn't living abroad wonderful? I think everyone should have to do it. So many congratulations (mabrook!) on being brave enough to go. I'm so glad you felt you got something from the experience. America definitely has a lot of problems, but a lot of wonderful things too. Same with the UAE. Same with all countries.

  • Proud to be an Emirati.. but sometimes I don't get why ppl (from everywhere, not necessarily UAE) spend lots of money on weddings?!

I always think it's much better to save these money for the honeymoon or the for the house and the future of the coming children. Anywayz... not a lot of people don't agree with my statement. They think it's the 'special' night and they want it to be the best.

Personally, if my dress is all good and cute (my hubby too lol), I think I don't need all that flaunt!!

  • @SourSweetSoul2 am an emarati too, and i totally agree with u, although i am a man, and agree with u, sometime u have to be silent just to respect that its a special day in a women life. however, i do respect a women that thinks the same.

  • u are all bad european hanifi from algeria.......u loook for money dirty

  • i dont think that there is animosity betweeb gulf ppl and americans. i hope they made u feel welcome and i hope u kno that 2 ppls comments are not indicative of US ppl a as a whole.. i am from the gulf, (with british mother) and in my experience, guld ppl are willing to be good ambassadors to their country, esp when westerners are involved. i hope u had a good time, and that u belly dance at the next wedding u go to ! :)

  • Proud to be married to an Emirati! ;D

  • i dont think its a good idea

our first term you should be virgin

dont get it wrong and mix it with religion

we feel sick if a guy know that her wife had sex before with another guy and some dont care about it at all

im sorry but that is the truth

  • yea i guess Emiratis care about luxury places more but for the amount of food i think saudis are in the top but we don't make it in luxury places since we are still not as richer as Emiratis ;p

  • lol

  • You know, I wish I knew about the singers! I wouldn't know unless someone told me. I'm still kind of clueless about this HUGE world of Arab Celebrities. And I totally believe that wedding was over a million dirham ($275,000)

  • definitely by far over a million dirham.. its kinda scary :p

oh yeah, and the singers are so expensive too! weddings sometimes can have more than 1 celebrity singer!

  • Proud to be an Emirati! ;D

    You described our weddings EXACTLY!

God, I'm not married yet, I've got tons of expenses coming up in the future... :p

  • No kidding FananoTM, I have NO IDEA how much that wedding cost. I'm guessing easily upwards of 100,000 USD. It was amazing though. Something I'll remember forever.

  • By far, the total wedding with the wedding dress is above a million Dirham!

Glad to hear that! ;) ..

Did they get famous singers to sing too?

  • This is wonderful, Sonya. I feel like I was at the wedding too. Thank you so much for sharing!

  • Wow! What an experience and what insight! Keep up the great work. You know I love watching your videos!

  • The other day I was looking at random people's profiles on FB and came across this woman who had posted really sexy pictures of herself with her boobies spilling out and one of the comments on the photo was "Keep up the good work!" Great comment right? I loved that.

  • Sonya, I'll spank you if do anything other than come back to us and become a director. Not only is this educational and insightful- but profoundly moving.

God bless you and Jeff on your travels, God

Bless America and God Bless Obama.

    PS-

I'm very glad to hear there is a plentiful supply of chocolate there. xoxoxo

  • Cymiryl, so glad you're out there watching. Thanks for all your kind words. And don't tempt me with a spanking, you know I'll take you up on it.
