  • Dprider02, thanks for sharing your lovely rides. A few questions about your bike, if I may as I am thinking of Adding one to the stable

Do you still enjoy the 919 as much as when you first vlogged about it?

How do you find the comfort level after riding it for a day?

How do you find the fuel consumption?

  • @michaelrossonline I still like the bike a lot. I'll be sending you a PM with some more details. Thanks for watching. :)

  • Looks like a great ride there DP. I haven't been out on mine for a couple of weeks. I think that's it until the next mild winter day for me.

  • @Swipe650 Thanks Swipe. Other than a 25 minute backup while on the DC beltway on the way out there, it was a really nice day. I'm hoping to squeeze in one more "away" ride before it gets too cold up there in the hills. Fingers crossed!

  • Looking nice up there, I'll be on my way to the mountains tomorrow in G.W. Natl park

  • @Pittimus84 I've never ridden around in the GW park before. Looks like there are some pretty nice roads.

  • @Pittimus84 there are, blue ridge pkwy is a nice senic ride if you are in the mood to see the valley and what not, normally in the summer we avoid it because of park rangers, we stick to other roads that run around there but don't have as much traffic and are twisty

  • @Pittimus84 I've actually ridden the entire length of the BRP a couple times. Gotta love that road! As you say, though, some of the surrounding roads can be a lot more entertaining in terms of fun twisty bits.

  • Sign: dangerous road for motorcycles…use caution

    DP: Yahoo….getty-up

Bug: I could have survived that impact at 35 mph.

Lottery: does not have DP’s or Spacecoast’s name on it.

  • @Spacecoastz Yeah, that motorcycle danger sign definitely peaked my interest. Turned out to be a fun little stretch, but not nearly as much as numerous other twisty roads I've ridden that have no such warnings.

I suppose that I'd actually have to start buying lottery tickets to have a chance. Then my odds of winning would go up a bit. Probably similar to those of getting eaten by a shark while driving to work!

  • And what was the name of that road with the great sign?

  • Hey man! I'm doing this ride next Monday or Tuesday! Any tips? Suggestions? Good place to get a meal and maybe a beer?

  • @dtmbcorp I hope the weather is good for your ride. There are some road works going up there at this time, so be prepared for that. No big deal, but you'll probably find yourself stuck behind a string of cars and RV's occasionally. I don't really have any tips as far as getting a bite to eat up there. There are a couple of resorts / restaurants, but I've never stopped in. The twisty road with the motorcycle warning sign is RT 211, exiting the park to the east. Be careful! :)

  • I had wanted to do Skyline and BRP this fall but couldn't .

    Nice ride! Lucky you.

  • @KeukaRyder I recall your mentioning the Skyline / BRP ride. Oh well. There's always next year. Right about now, you're probably getting ready to break out the 'ol snow shovels!

  • @dprider02 Well, it's almost November. I don't want to say you're right about the shovels but....it IS almost November! Glad you got a nice day to ride and glad you videoed it.

  • Different bike? hmmm I get nervous driving over any kind of leaf, dry or wet. and in Australia sometimes it was eucalyptus bark.

  • @britex3186 Yeah, I get a bit nervous riding among the fallen leaves as well, but they were pretty sparse. That said, I did have a couple of mini slides, but I wasn't really pushing it.

As to the different bike, I just bought an older dual sport as a second ride. Hoping to get in a nice trip out in WVA before it gets too frosty!

  • @dprider02 Oh that is great! I hope you have fun on thd Dual Sport!

  • @britex3186 I'm looking forward to not having to limit myself to the asphalt on my little motorcycle holidays. No gnarly trail riding, though. Those days are done. Sigh!

  • What a great run and so much color in the trees just now. That is really beautiful countryside and the twisty side road looked awesome. Hope you do win the lottery some day soon mate. Cheers!

  • @TKTex1 Thanks mate. The tree colors weren't quite at their peak yet, but it was still very pretty up there. As far as the lottery goes, it's highly unlikely that I'll be winning any time soon. I'd have to actually buy some tickets for that to happen. Don't know why I even mentioned it! :)

  • Very very very nice. Thanks for taking me up those hills with this virtual motorcycle ride. :) I still have not taken my bike over there...but I'm currently putting new tires/sprockets/chain on the bike. Maybe I can make it up there before it gets too chilly. Anywho, a 919 popped up in Craigslist around here that is very very tempting. Haha, I'm really considering taking out a small loan because the deal is just too good to be true. Ahhh the temptation!!

  • @ToastToGo Thanks Toast. And, btw, you have definitely gotten the bug! The VFR isn't even properly on the road yet, and you're already looking at a 919 to keep it company. I foresee a lot of motorcycles in your future! :)

  • I wonder how many motorcycle accidents there were on that stretch for them to have put up that sign. Looked like lots of fun, I like that you took it as a challenge. Amazingly smooth roads.

  • @Baggahammers I was actually wondering the same thing. I don't recall ever seeing a sign that specifically warned motorcyclists before.

  • Cool ride dp! Looks like fun. Another road to add to my must ride list.

  • @seekinsoul Yeah, it's a pretty nice road. Next time you head down to Deals Gap, you might want to check it out. If you were to combine it with the entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway, you'd have over 580 miles of crest of the mountains, no stop sign, smooth and twisty riding ahead of you. Great riding and fantastic views!

  • Hey DP, some years ago (1971 or 72) I went fishing there with my Dad and brother. We caught several small mouth and met Andy Griffith, who was fishing down river from us...good memory...good video too!

  • @oldbluedog08 You just reminded me of something. If you were ever a fan of the old "Married With Children" tv show, you might remember an episode where the Bundys took their annual vacation to a fictional town called Dumpwater, Florida. Upon arriving, they found out that the big event that week was an evening at the high school, where you could "Meet the man who met Andy Griffith". Pretty funny. Anyway, now I know a man who has met Andy Griffith! I'm a big fan of that show too, btw.

  • Good one DP. I've never been on the Skyline before, I'll have to check it out.

  • @MAG315 It's a very nice road. Just like the BRP, actually, except that it costs $10 (for a motorcycle) to enter the park, and it's about 350 miles shorter!

  • lol Big Bug *squeegee's it off D: *

  • @FoxxFire50 I had no idea that bug was there until I watched the video a couple days later :)
