Janissaries are elite troops, the Conquistador... well, they aren't very elite, nor are they cheap/roughly trained infantries. I still believe the Janissaries would definately win... because from what I've seen, Janissaries stood up against many European warriors much like the Conquistador and remain victorious. i dont understand why some people choose conquistadores.. They fight heavily armored againts foes with no armar AT ALL... i mean they didnt but i wouldnt even care when a conquistador kills 20 aztecs alone.. @Gaskovichs You forget that at the same time that Spanish conquistadors were rampaging across central and south America, the Spanish tercio units from which most conquistadors came from were fighting the French, English, Dutch, Ottomans, protestant Germans, Danes, and Swedes...often at the same time. The Spanish Tercios were the dominant military force in Europe for about 150 years.

the janisarry didnt rebel in the fashion you are thinking. its not like they would just run away in the middle of a battle, they rebelled against sultans who has made unjust decisions and/or antagonizes the janissary as a whole.

Obviously, the Spanish would win provided that they aren't outnumbered. What all of you seem to forget is that this is a fight that actually happened, which is why it probably won't be on Deadliest Warriors. The Spanish dealt a bloody nose to the Turk on numerous occasions. Do we so easily forget Lepanto and Don Juan de Austria? What about Cape Corvo? Even when the Spanish lost, they were outnumbered and inflicted horrendous losses on the Turk.
@dkrustyklown The Battle of Lepanto happened after the Spaniards conquered and exploited a significant amount of the Americas. This is what led to the power decline of the Ottoman Empire. Obviously, the Spaniards would have the upper hand in the Battle of Lepanto.

I think that if it ended up in close combat, the Janissaries would win beacuse they didn't just train with blades and melee weapons, they also learned unarmed combat, plus they actually lifted weights, but if it was all ranged combat, then the Conquistadors would win because their cannons were more of an overwhelming factor.
I'll go with the the CONQUISTADOR, but just slightly. Maybe it's not to late to make some changes. To this day the Spanish Conquistadors still have a bit of romanticism and definate allure to them.

I am shocked that there's been no word of the Janissaries in this season yet. We've got Joan of Arc who, despite being a significant leader, wasn't actually much of a fighter, but not one of the most renowned and respected military groups of all time?

Ottoman Janissary was the special force of Ottoman army. They were picked among the population specifically for fighting and they started their training from the age of 10-12. And not all of them could make to the army. They did this business for life. So, they were professional soldiers. They were not the people that you call to the army when needed. And they almost always fought against collection of Christian armies of Central and Eastern European countries. They faced 3-4 of them against 1.

Conquistadores weren t the king's army, they just were a bunch of adventurer and gold seekers in America. The real soldiers were in the Tercios, pikemen and arquebusers/musketeers.
At all, they were conquering those lands in name of Its Catholyc King Carlos I of Spain and V of the Holly Roman Empire of the German Nation. They had pope´s bleesing too, for turn those land into Christianism.
Most of them were war veterans of the Italian wars against the french looking for adventure, which two only possible options: Back to Spain with glory and gold or death trying it.

Well, I dont think so, they were war veterans and they aplied they knowledge of war to its conquest. They were old soldiers fighting with well-known infantry tactics adapted to the place were they were fighting. They were adventurer also, but if they wouldn´t have fought as disciplined and trained infantry they wouldnt be success at all.
I think one on one the Spaniard would win but if it was a team engagement the Janissary would likely have the advantage due to being better balanced for team combat than the Spanish
This video doesn´t need demonstration, because despite that in one to one fight any would have clear advantage, in a battle Spaniards made it much better against Turkishs soldiers, which were excellents soldiers. And here come som battle to probe it:

@RedDeadRevolva Spain didn't stop the Ottoman empire in the Mediterranean OR Vienna, Vienna was the Holy Roman Empire's fight, which is technically Austria but some would say Germany. The Mediterranean halt in expansion is actually due to the Knights Hospitaller on Malta and the piracy against Muslim ships that they encouraged. Also, neither Germany nor Austria was ever under Spanish rule. I don't know how you might possibly have inferred that.

@RedDeadRevolva Ok, firstly correct on the janissaries, they were sourced from all over the Balkans, but they had traditional roots in being sourced from the slavs. The Vienna struggle was a Hapsburg thing, too true. Note though while the Hapsburg family ruled in both Spain and the Holy Roman Empire, they were different branches. This is common throughout history, the French war of succession was kicked off by Spanish claims to the French throne as the monarchy deteriorated and similar.

While I'm sure the Hapsburg dynasty might have brought some reinforcements from Spain, I'm unsure as to the extent of this as to my knowledge, there were no commanders of Spanish decent. Plus Landsknecht were generally sourced from the Holy Roman Empire, I haven't heard of any exception to this.

While the Roman empire didn't control any Asian territories, there was a significant influence via the silk road.

Janissaries would win. The Ottomans were more successful than Spain against similar opponents, the Holy league was roughly the same as the opposition to Spain when they tried to claim the French throne.
While the Ottomans became less influential, and the Spanish more, this was due to the renaissance, not Spanish supremacy.

Janissaries are elite troops, the Conquistador... well, they aren't very elite, nor are they cheap/roughly trained infantries. I still believe the Janissaries would definately win... because from what I've seen, Janissaries stood up against many European warriors much like the Conquistador and remain victorious. Obviously, the Spanish would win provided that they aren't outnumbered. What all of you seem to forget is that this is a fight that actually happened, which is why it probably won't be on Deadliest Warriors. The Spanish dealt a bloody nose to the Turk on numerous occasions. Do we so easily forget Lepanto and Don Juan de Austria? What about Cape Corvo? Even when the Spanish lost, they were outnumbered and inflicted horrendous losses on the Turk.

I think that if it ended up in close combat, the Janissaries would win beacuse they didn't just train with blades and melee weapons, they also learned unarmed combat, plus they actually lifted weights, but if it was all ranged combat, then the Conquistadors would win because their cannons were more of an overwhelming factor.

Ottoman Janissary was the special force of Ottoman army. They were picked among the population specifically for fighting and they started their training from the age of 10-12. And not all of them could make to the army. They did this business for life. So, they were professional soldiers. They were not the people that you call to the army when needed. And they almost always fought against collection of Christian armies of Central and Eastern European countries. They faced 3-4 of them against 1.

They were old soldiers fighting with well-known infantry tactics adapted to the place were they were fighting. This video doesn´t need demonstration, because despite that in one to one fight any would have clear advantage, in a battle Spaniards made it much better against Turkishs soldiers, which were excellents soldiers. And here come som battle to probe it:

@RedDeadRevolva Spain didn't stop the Ottoman empire in the Mediterranean OR Vienna, Vienna was the Holy Roman Empire's fight, which is technically Austria but some would say Germany. The Mediterranean halt in expansion is actually due to the Knights Hospitaller on Malta and the piracy against Muslim ships that they encouraged. Also, neither Germany nor Austria was ever under Spanish rule. I don't know how you might possibly have inferred that.

The Ottomans had known about many of the South Eastern Asian Islands through trade and through astute deals these islands came under their rule. Examples of this are prominent through the extent of Islam in Indonesia.

It wasn't until Turkey gifted the territory to Germany later that any real external influence was obvious.

@RedDeadRevolva Lastly, depending on your border lines of continents, the Ottoman empire could be found in Europe (so quite correct, Janissaries were slavic born form Europe, but they were also Ottoman subjects) in the Balkans, Asia in the areas around the Persian Gulf, Africa through the north and they also had token out posts in the Americas and Papua New Guinea, which is no longer Australian, but is part of the continent. So that makes 6. So unless Spain was in the Antarctic....

@RedDeadRevolva Ok, firstly correct on the janissaries, they were sourced from all over the Balkans, but they had traditional roots in being sourced from the slavs. The Vienna struggle was a Hapsburg thing, too true. Note though while the Hapsburg family ruled in both Spain and the Holy Roman Empire, they were different branches. This is common throughout history, the French war of succession was kicked off by Spanish claims to the French throne as the monarchy deteriorated and similar.

@RedDeadRevolva Also, while I'm not incredibly familiar with the battle of Vienna, I've always thought it was the Polish Winged Hussars who saved the day, not the Spanish. While I'm sure the Hapsburg dynasty might have brought some reinforcements from Spain, I'm unsure as to the extent of this as to my knowledge, there were no commanders of Spanish decent. Plus Landsknecht were generally sourced from the Holy Roman Empire, I haven't heard of any exception to this.

@RedDeadRevolva I don't know what you'd define as a world power, but thats the definition I received from the Oxford dictionary, if your argument is that such influence could not be exerted across the Earth until the colonial boom, I would remind you that for the majority of history, the major population centres have been in the Eurasian-African landmass. While the Roman empire didn't control any Asian territories, there was a significant influence via the silk road.

@petazetas23 Mate, I can think of larger empires off the top of my head, British empire (largest ever), Mongolian (largest land empire ever), the Chinese dynasties, Persian empire, Roman empire, the Sassanids, all of which beat the Spanish in either the criteria of amount of land or percentage of total population of the worlds population. To be fair also the Aztecs thought the Spanish were Gods and had never witnessed swords or guns before Spain arrived. Hardly a fair comparison.

Janissaries would win. The Ottomans were more successful than Spain against similar opponents, the Holy league was roughly the same as the opposition to Spain when they tried to claim the French throne.
While the Ottomans became less influential, and the Spanish more, this was due to the renaissance, not Spanish supremacy.
Ottomans fought in WW1 and were still effective, see Gallipoli.
The Turks lost because the Germans did, not because of any other reason.

He had to fight against many enemies in both sides:
Some mutinies tried to depose him during the conquest. The governor of Cuba sent an expedition against Cortes. Had to fight against chalcatecas first and became ally of them later

I'd have to give my vote to the Conquistador, but I wouldn't give a big advantage to that Falconet; Alexander the Great used a Ballista in his battle and it only landed 4 kills, and the Roman Centurion used a Scorpion which I don't think got many more. Mind you the Falconet IS a cannon, but when someone sees a cannon aimed at them they run out of the trajectory. The rest of their weaponry is very effective so I do think they'd win
