i actually have the sandie shaw 12" for this song (as released by her alone) and i think its quite good, sorta has a northern soul vibe ..the copyright is 1988
"This song has yet to appear on a Morrissey album. It was written during the sessions for "Viva Hate" but Morrissey never released his version. However Sandie Shaw did release a version as a single and on her "Hello Angel" album."
Hay Nice post dizzy I've never heard this song befor. It's got that bouncy melody he's used quite a bit since going solo....He's done some great stuff since going solo but the diversity he had with Marr isn't there as much !
for your information i wasnt banging on about anything i was just stating my opinion. and also i believe there is no official version of this song because it was suppose to be released on viva hate but it never did, it was never was a rough sketch of a song not yet mastered, hence why i use the word demo version. so stop banging on about how much you supposedly know and stop being a dick. oh and this song and the solo morrissey one arent exactly the same. listen closely
this was last september when he was performing at the hollywood palladium check morrissey-solo for his setlists for the nights if i remember he played it a couple of nights and i just want this track bc its such a nice track
I saw him in all of last year in the Southern California at every venue and I know that he did not perform this song. It would have caught my attention.
I have - through my stupidity - deleted someone's comment. They asked when it was recorded, from what I have been able to find out it's from around the Viva Hate period so 1988ish...
Just raping the repeat button, magnificent song!!

Apologies to stormeroffer2, I deleted your post by accident (can YouTube not provide an 'are you sure' button?)
But yes it's a real shame that Morrissey has never officially allowed this song to surface. One of his finest moments is left in obscurity.
dizzywhore1804 3 years ago
Yes, this would have been a fantastic single! Why was it never released?!
Damn, it's fucking class!

Sandie Shaw is just excruciating! Shame on Morrissey for collaborating with her!

You are right it does work well as a duet. A great Moz tongue in cheek type of song.
cartyj 3 years ago
Thanks for posting this. I've only ever heard the Sandie Shaw solo version. This is great.
cartyj 3 years ago
Works much better as a duet I think.
I also think this is one of Morrissey's funniest songs.
dizzywhore1804 3 years ago
This should've been Morrissey's EuroVision entry :-p
