One of the many soul stirring n mellifluous numbers by the "numero uno" in the field of ghazal singing.....this man took dis art to a different level....rhythms of an ingenuous class.....he stays alive in our reminiscence.....the articulate way in which he presented his songs r worth emulating.....RIP
Ahh...i heart has all aaah for the loss of Jagjit Sahab...My eyes get filled with water when i see this couple singing this song...One of the partner went away into the cruel jaws of death..God bless you sahab
I heard this back in 1983 on BBC2's Nai Zindaghi, Nai Jeevan programme and taped it from there, so it's so good to hear it again after so long in this version. Great lyrics and melody
This is one of my favourite song of Jagjit Singh and Citra. Chitra lost her both son and daughter. When I listen to this song. I feel the pain and sadness in Chitra's voice. It's sad her son died in a car accident and her daughter commit suicide.
This is really magic stuff, this should appeal to all music lovers world wide, I cant seem to convince any of my friends & family of the beauty of this music.
@rprajpal umm with all due respect O great and magnificent rajpal yadav, i do not care about looking at him or me for that matter. the degree of quality was sub-par in this. But of course since you can't spell pathetic correctly you would not know what i just said.
the other live version from royal albert hall concert waters my eyes to this day - nothing could be more emotionally moving...this version is not bad either - thanks a lot for posting
Great ghazal. But sounds like chitra is trying to sing in slower version then Jagjit. You can hear her catching up with him when they are singing together. Does anybody have this song on a CD recording instead of live one. Please uplaod. Thanx
chitra has given up singing evr since jagjit&her son died in a car-crash abt 15 yrs ago.recently her daughter from 1st marriage (b4 jagjit),commited suicide..once agn she is fighting depression.she always remains at home only.
@shamsia52j She is in Bombay, left singing after the death of her son. and now we will only hear him on youtube or personal collections. RIP JagjitG, we will miss you dearly.
i had this ghazal in a cassette in 1984, used to listen to it day in day out. Then lost track of it, now heard it after 25 years and it still touches raw chords in ones heart, why do we mourn yesteryear s when we very well know the circle of life, what drama GOD has created by creating Man!
A lot of music snobs knock them, but I think time will prove them to have been truly unique and such a rare combination. Perfect assimilation of pitches, delicate and mellifluous voices that interweave, seamlessly appear and disappear to weave an amazing aural tapestry. Their sad loss and Chitra's decision to stop performing has been all our loss. We have grieved the loss of our nightingale as she has grieved the tragic loss of her beloved son. I hope she finds peace.
Two great voices together..... its not good for Ghazal Lovers that Chitra stop singing after they lost their son. They lost their son and we lost a great singer like her
I had a old audio tape of my father when i was in college. The name was Tamanna. That had this ghazal and aslo dua by amna iqbal lab pe aati hai dua banke. I still remember the RED color of cover. We missed that somewhere. :-(

Dear Sir , they are my family friends , they are very well husband wife and are staying together in worli sea face mumbai , chitra ji has stopped singing after her sons tragic death :(
Tapemagic jee : I am really sorry for my comments. That happened as one of my friend told me that their son died in accident and they divorced which was false information. I an very thankful to you for letting me know. If it is like that I wish both of them a long life as both are very much fantastic singers. I am extremely sorry for this mistake. But at the same time I am glad that everything is very good except tragic death of their beloved son.
Sometimes, something you ask from GOD does not come true for our own good. Sometimes when you want something very bad and don't get it ... that feeling is very depressing. This is one of my favourite ghazal of Jagjit Singh. Chitra's voice is so, sweet. Thanks for sharing this video with youtube.
