I think I'm in love with this AI. But i'm afraid I'll have issues with my new mac pro with the firewire 800 port. I read so many issues about that...Did you guys solve this issue?
@tobysuniverse Hi there. We have seen some unusual issues with some FireWire 400 to 800 adapters and as such we have a recommend using the Sonnet adapter as featured on our answerbase (search Sonnet). This is not the only adapter that will work, but it is one that we know will work. In general, this unit will work well with your new Mac Pro.
Hi. How many Individual tracks at the same time can this record with firewire? I mean, not a mix of the tracks or something. Having each individual track in the DAW. For example, recording a guitar and vocals at the same time, then having the guitar track, the vocals track, etc. All through firewire.
My buddy has this and I have no problem with the concept of s/pdif or the other 4 anlog inputs but what is the loopback input and how does that work? Is it something internal?
@warlanefam Hi there. I would advise that you get in contact with our support team by clicking on 'Contact Us' button on the Answerbase. They will be able to ask you for the relevant information to get you bacl up and running as soon as possible.
@FocusriteTV Well thanks for the tip anyway, but I got it the problem is solved already :) Apparently I accidently screwed up some of the settings in the MixControl, don't ask me how because I don't have a clue but it's all working fine again. Shouldn't freak out like that ;)
But still thanks a ton, it's fun to know there's people like you guys to consult when having has a problem!
@TheClearwayForce If you could get in contact with us via the contact form on our answerbase then someone will be able to run through the necessary troubleshooting steps to determine why you are having these connectivity issues.
@kidunique10 The problem was the actual interface, I sent it back and got a new one and it worked perefectly. I think it was my fault cuz I plugged it in while computer was on.. hope u sort it out
I use three Octopre Dynamic MKII's & one Octopre MKII to give me 32 channels of amazing input to capture live sound when we video events. I am thinking that this would be a great addition to my backpack for two channel live capture when I don't need the full rig.
how about Linux compatibility?

No luck at all. not even with the Sonnet FireWire 400 to 800 adapter. No LED Lights on Saffire 24. The MixContol says no hardware connected

hey would this adapter work on a macBook pro "Tripp Lite F017-006 IEEE 1394b Firewire 800 Gold Hi-speed Cable, 9pin/6pin" found it on Amazon
go433 6 months ago
@go433 We haven't tested that specific cable so it's hard to say. Best to go for Sonnet FireWire 800 adapter as we know this works.
FocusriteTV 6 months ago
@FocusriteTV is it necessary to have an adapter. could you not just use a firewire 800 to 400 cable?

Better than Saffire 6?
TheAkaGuN 8 months ago
@TheAkaGuN yes better than saffire 6 but this uses firewire 400 not usb like saffire 6. So it is better but you must have firewire on your computer.

@serknor This can record 8 inputs simultaneously. Two via the preamps, two line inputs, two S/PDIF inputs and two loopback inputs.

rootbeermcgee 10 months ago
@rootbeermcgee Yes, this will work well for mixing. You will probably want to use the 'DAW Tracking' preset in MixControl.

With this do you not need a mixer?
NcDrums15 1 year ago
@NcDrums15 - I think not :) This is an interface, so you records through Firewire and you miks in a software which comes with the card ;)
