The new Macbooks are actually priced decently. The only thing that really bothers me is how they want $100 to upgrade a hard drive from 5400 to 7200 RPM, which should be a complete standard. In this day and age, 5400RPM is an embarrassment for a machine in that price range. Other then that, pretty nice. I'm going to get one sooner or later. Also, 9400M Graphics? Sounds a little weak. How many MB does that have?

Kid, the MacBook Air was the first of their laptops to incorporate Multi-Touch. It's trackpad just isn't of the new all-button, glass kind - it just has a regular button strip at the bottom.
I can't either. I watched an interview and their engineers were like "we don't want to deprive any of our lower level macs from higher end features"... Lies! If you need the convenient lit keyboard, fork over $300 more dollars! Which isn't justified considering it only gets you a lit keyboard, 90gb of memory and .4ghz faster processor :(
lol i bought the 2.4 but the illuminated keyboard is excellent and couldnt live without it now, the .4ghz is debatable whether you would notice but you do also get almost 100gb extra storage. i did buy mine with employees discount and it cost me just under 800 so got over £300 off which was very good.
the 2.4 version is nice.. i want to get that too but im afraid if theres a new version come out. it almost june and usually mac launch a newer version between june-august.. i dont know whether i should wait or not.
i will get the 2.4 version now if theres no newer version come out.. hehe

True, there are some PC manufacturers out there with some absolutely stunning designs and hardware that are let down completely by running windoze. 'Hackintosh' computers are an excellent way of getting the best operating system on the market on a budget laptop. Have to disagree with the desktop thing though. The iMac is stunning and very capable, the Mac Mini is really starting to get the power it deserves and the Mac Pro is just sublime. Game over? I think not...

Give and take, I am going to get one, but initially I laughed when I looked at the price of it. That said, if you look at the prices used macs get on, say ebay, if you sell it after say 6-12 months and get another one, you arent actually loosing all that much.
They have much better re-sale values compaired to windows based laptops.
I can scroll down the page using 2 fingers its so much easier than clicking and dragging because the new Macbooks have a thing where u can use 2 fingers to scroll, spin pictures, etc.

i would say the macbook is better than the air. on the mancbook you can remove your battery if it runs out whereas on the air you cannot do that. My Cousin has the air and he his really angry that he didnt choose the Pro.
so if you were looking for one i would go with pro. which is exactly what i am using to write this message.
they are a bit on the expensive side at about $1500 but still. i also recommend you get one with os X 10.5 leopard. it is a great operating system.
yea i have the 2.4ghz version with 4gb ram and its screaming fast and on vista scores/rates higher than any XPS laptop FACT. i plan on buying a cinema display this summer aswell so it works as a desktop too
Best way you can spend $2000 on a computer. No lie, you won't have to reboot it for months at a time. Fuck vista and faggy PC games anyways, go for the mac!
Well, I prefer the simple old separation, and I can infact do everything on a tap pad, as I could do with a click pad, 1 tap, select, 2 taps, double click, voila.
I prefer Windows based systems, I wouldn't try anything from Apple.

Kid, the MacBook Air was the first of their laptops to incorporate Multi-Touch. It's trackpad just isn't of the new all-button, glass kind - it just has a regular button strip at the bottom.

I can't either. I watched an interview and their engineers were like "we don't want to deprive any of our lower level macs from higher end features"... Lies! If you need the convenient lit keyboard, fork over $300 more dollars! Which isn't justified considering it only gets you a lit keyboard, 90gb of memory and .4ghz faster processor :(

lol i bought the 2.4 but the illuminated keyboard is excellent and couldnt live without it now, the .4ghz is debatable whether you would notice but you do also get almost 100gb extra storage. i did buy mine with employees discount and it cost me just under 800 so got over £300 off which was very good.

the 2.4 version is nice.. i want to get that too but im afraid if theres a new version come out. it almost june and usually mac launch a newer version between june-august.. i dont know whether i should wait or not.

doubt it. it hasnt even been out a year yet. the old one took 3yrs to be updated so i wouldnt worry about an update just yet but by all means wait and see. they might add an extra 0.00001ghz power lol

True, there are some PC manufacturers out there with some absolutely stunning designs and hardware that are let down completely by running windoze. 'Hackintosh' computers are an excellent way of getting the best operating system on the market on a budget laptop. Have to disagree with the desktop thing though. The iMac is stunning and very capable, the Mac Mini is really starting to get the power it deserves and the Mac Pro is just sublime. Game over? I think not...

Give and take, I am going to get one, but initially I laughed when I looked at the price of it. That said, if you look at the prices used macs get on, say ebay, if you sell it after say 6-12 months and get another one, you arent actually loosing all that much.
They have much better re-sale values compaired to windows based laptops.

The best feature on my Macbook by far is:
I can scroll down the page using 2 fingers its so much easier than clicking and dragging because the new Macbooks have a thing where u can use 2 fingers to scroll, spin pictures, etc.

i would say the macbook is better than the air. on the mancbook you can remove your battery if it runs out whereas on the air you cannot do that. My Cousin has the air and he his really angry that he didnt choose the Pro.
so if you were looking for one i would go with pro. which is exactly what i am using to write this message.
they are a bit on the expensive side at about $1500 but still. i also recommend you get one with os X 10.5 leopard. it is a great operating system.

yea i have the 2.4ghz version with 4gb ram and its screaming fast and on vista scores/rates higher than any XPS laptop FACT. i plan on buying a cinema display this summer aswell so it works as a desktop too

But I got use to it very quickly and it's a lot better then a normal PC track pad any day

Well, I prefer the simple old separation, and I can infact do everything on a tap pad, as I could do with a click pad, 1 tap, select, 2 taps, double click, voila.
I prefer Windows based systems, I wouldn't try anything from Apple.
Nothing Apple makes will change my mind, I don't even own an iPod.
