IMPORTANT QUESTION! Did the ceramic layer over the aluminum plates wear off at all? I got a remmington Wet to Straight, I loved this straightener, but after about 5 months the coating wore off the plates and it started to smell bad and my hair would come out a lot dryer. Because it has been over a year since this video came out, I figured you would have an answer for that. If it does wear down then I wont go out of my way to get one in the future. Thanks!

I have to be honest, and this is just from my own personal experiences, I've had so many different straightners and they have all done the job they were intended to do, STRAIGHTEN. Regardless of how cheap or how expensive they were they never left my hair burned or damaged or looking bad. Maybe I havent gotten a hold of a "bad" flat iron,

On the sephora website, they had a bundle deal with the black straightener and a hair dryer that includes a concentrator (that head piece that is a flatter shape that is good for blow drying straight) and a really cute, heat resistant carrying case, all for $240 (which is the price of one of their custom straighteners).

Great review and I agree with everything you said about the GHD.

Several years ago, I bought a cheap flat iron and it killed my hair, so I tossed it out and vowed I would never straighten my hair again.

A few months ago, I learned about the GHD, so I picked it up at Sephora, and was amazed at how nice my hair turned out after using it.

I have the ghd aswell and my hair is very curly and thick. i have spoken to my hairstyler as she also uses the ghd and you do not have to pull hard. you only have to do it more slowly to get the hair straightened :D

Okay, I just want to say, I'm a hairdresser.. I work fulltime in a GHD salon. GHD's are the ONLY flat iron we use. They are amazing!

And I just want to say that GHD's go from 40degreese Celcius to 210C.

Those plates give way because they actually measure how much hair is between the plates.. If there's less, it'll go to a lower heat, if there's more it'll go higher.. thus, impossible to burn your hair. =)

I do not think that is mean - but it is nice to have options. It is funny people with straight hair want curly and people with curly want straight hair. I like variety sometimes I wear it straight and other times curly - it is good to see the reviews and this iron can be used to curl your hair as well.
