Listen up dweebs.. Jimi Hendrix is the one who said he could learn something from another musician no matter how good or bad he played.. Perhaps all you EVH wannabe's should take the same approach. You may learn something. Although I do have to say he is one of the uncoolest dudes I have ever seen play the guitar.. :-)

Classic 1st 4th and 5th, though it's more of a bluesy sound (what else do you expect from a minor pentatonic scale moving in the 1, 4, 5 lolz), throwing in some phaser and heavier distortion, one could actually make a pretty good metal riff and/or solo from this riff. I think I might just have to give that a try, thanks.
@SLee1337 so because i picture this guy playing with a different guitar and playing different music i dont play guitar or "respect it", wow this is definitely NOT a retarded comment...
did i ever say he was bad?
did i ever say he didnt know what he was doing?
no, i said he looked funny, so heres an idea: before you comment on someone elses comment saying its retarded, actually fucking read it first dipshit. heres another idea: stick your guitar that you suck at up your ass and fuck off.
if the chord progression is G C D isnt it in the key of g minor and therefore dont u use the g minor scale for each lick but in different position? why r u effectively changing keys every chord change .? its not jazz
@Reznor13524 He's obviously playing vertically, moving with the chord changes. You're thinking of horizontal playing where you stay pretty much in the same area. Both methods are widely used in blues.
@Reznor13524 Sorry let me rephrase, vertical movement is when you change key with the chords, horizontal movement (what you're thinking of) is when you stick with the root scale no matter what chords are being played
i think you should say not the name of the pentatonic, becausa that pentatonic you used, is that A pentatonic, but you used it in different notes of the E string, so...
How did he do that way up high on the fret board..His frets are really wide on the 12th fret..Is this frankinberry jam..Those licks are so goober grape..Grape ape grape ape..Black sabbath is like full of grape ape licks except with claws cause his cutt off fingers..!aH
@Marci2110 no that is vögel or something i beleive. but at least germans and dutch people are neighbours of course our languages are quite the same! X_X
@Marci2110 well then my german sucks... wich my grades already showed me. since we gotta learn german cuz most of you can speak english... lazy bastards.
nah just joking. but u seriously need to learn english... i dont want my children growing up learning german and french and stuff in school. rather have em to properly teach the rest X_X
just goes to show how much a backing track and drums can really make something so simple sound like it belongs lol, on its own not a very impressive solo, but in the band it has a home
Actually, if you know the pentatonic scale patternes, you could find the notes by matching the sound. He said he was in the first position of the scale, so you should be able to go from there...
Yes, its called a root note just for a point of reference, of course the scale is dictated by where you are on the neck put the you can start from whatever note of the scale you like.
Randy Bachman/BTO is a mormon ... yknow taking care of business
and then i'm not proud of it but Brandon Flowers from the killers is also mormon ... he's not so cool
but he played with the boss in concert which makes him way cool
also "The Jets" are lds and nobody knows them anymore but they were popular ... and uhh just cause this guy wears a button down shirt doesn't mean he's mormon
i mean i wear a button down on sunday but i wear a t shirt when playing guitar
If you 'brush up' on something, you practice something you knew how to do but want to improve.
For instance, you have an English exam on Monday, the subject is Shakespeare. You already are familiar with it, but don't know it well enough yet. When you then revise for that exam, you are 'brushing up' on your Shakespeare knowledge. Hope this helps.
I'm just learning and I though he did a good job explaining it. It might be a little too easy for advanced players, but for a newby this is pretty cool to help get finger memory and feel like you are playing a lead, even if a small one.
wait so for each different chord you have to use that pentatonic scale. for example if you use a d chord you have to start that pentatonic scale on the d note of the 6th string.
sloppy is the crap sound you get when you pick before you actually press the string correctly. the sound is not clear and makes you look bad. it happens a lot when playing fast
very basic, but you can play anything in between those chords to add your own personal style, great tutor, its the same melody but played higher and lower.
Thats the most ridiculous *lesson* i've ever seen, its not difficult to think 'oh, i'll play the same thing, in position one of the scale of each chord'
Don't ever teach anyone you don't have a clue as to what it takes. This guy did a nice job of teaching one simple concept. Then later this would be added to another simple concept and then another and they would become more complex over time. That is what good teachers do.
nobody said this was an advanced lesson...this is a pretty standard blues progression, and its good practice to move your licks up and down the neck to gain comfort
any and every scale is movable, but there's a whole lot of different scales but you'll never use all them or even half of all of them, just focus on developing technique, that is key to guitar success. Knowing what the scales are called, not very important, but knowing where they are and how to play them (modes) will make the all the difference
its a minor because it is not a major. majors have eight notes.(c major-c,d,e,f,g,a,b,c.one octave.)it is G because the first note is G.i hope this helps you LeJo82
hello Peter thanks for the instruction and i am taking lesson and understand about the scales and am trying to learn Pentation licks now . Could you tell me exactly where the slide is located which strings and frets?? Thanks Gil
Question: The Gm pentatonic scale starts on the 3rd fret on E-string wich is a G not a Gminor. So why is it in minor then ? To me it looks like the first pentatonic scale played in G. Does that make any sense ?
Gm starts on g but has the key signature of its relative major which is asharp. in another way of explaining the notes played in the pentatonic are R - b3 - 4 - 5 - b7 where R is the root which is G the next note is bflat etc.
Thx for trying but you totally lost me. Minor, major sharp and flat all in one sentence. So confusing... I read your explanation like 10 times but I just don't get it. Maybe if someone could explain it in dutch... But thx again mate.
