Great video of a great car being driven greatly :) Thanks for posting! I love the GP but heck, I love all things MINI. I just wish we had a track like that close to where I live that allowed citizens access!
Go somewhere like Brands Hatch first i've got my next day on 25th February. Learn to drive well and don't race as racing gets you in trouble. Best tip for your first nurburgring laps is all the boring stuff you always here but it true. Take it easy, don't time it and get as many laps in as you can. I've only done 12
@XlopenX You have no idea how intimidating that track is on your first lap! I was in a Nissan Micra 1.0 for my first lap and i had Porsches and lambo's flying past me doing ridiculous speeds. I think it was actually more scary watching before i went on the track as the cars look metres apart. When you are actually doing say 100 IN the car a few metres behind someone is quite a lot.
well drived, amazing! but a lot of unprofessional drivers. it looks very dangerous, isn't it? it seems that many drivers/cars in this video have not the control to drive on such track. do you need a race licence to drive on the nordschleife?
Do you own this track? You were well out of order with the civic and the bike. Remember there are always bigger fish in the pond. How would you like being cut up by a quicker motor as you scamper about in your charged chick mobil??
@Domalicious1 You're allowed to pass on the left buddy... You pay for your runs on this track. Manners is to pull to the right if you're holding someone back. -_-
@itisphillip You pull right and let them pass if you are holding someone back, but if you are in the middle of negotiating a tricky corner, or sequence of corners, you hold your line and ignore pushy people until you can safely let them pass.
If the people behind you are experienced they understand and respect this. If they are inexperienced "boy racers" and get pissy you have a quiet chat with them back at the parking lot and explain to them that they are not at Brands Hatch.
@bborud I completely understand what you're saying, and I actually agree with a lot of it, but what you don't understand about my statement is this:
My statement involved me saying that I understood the driver's anger in this video because the civics should have pulled over "earlier" than when he was forced to pull over. I know that the guy got impatient, and made a "somewhat" dangerous move *they were going at low speeds, in my opinion*
If you look at 0:44 the Civic is already in the pre-Hocheichen braking zone when the Mini comes up behind it. From there until the straight after the bend the driver will have committed to a line and should not alter it.
Also note how the Civic driver brakes just past the apex. An experienced driver would pick up on this and understand the civic driver is inexperienced. Also, speed is relative to perception. If you are inexperienced Hocheichen at that speed with a tailgater is stressful.
The civics should have pulled to the right earlier instead of being ignorant and not looking in their rear view mirror.
*note* When I said "suddenly changed his mind," I meant that to be sarcastic. Obviously the civic was sticking to his own line, but there was plenty of space for the Mini to take at a higher speed. Obviously the civic's line at his slow speed was not optimum at all. Since he was going so slow, it seemed like he was staying right
I think that in this situation it is unrealistic to expect an inexperienced driver to make that call in what was effectively a 2-3 second window. Bullying inexperienced drivers and then honking is seriously uncool.
Worse yet, taking a bike on the inside of Adenauer Forst when there is clearly a sign warning of oil on the track makes the driver look like a bit irresponsible. Or at best unable to pay attention.
@bborud Yeah... I guess I have to agree with on that one... He probably just got mad at the 2nd civic because those 2 (the civics) were obviously driving together, and he just blamed the 2nd car for the 1st car's annoyance.
@Domalicious1 Unlike most commenters here I have spent some time learning and driving on this track. Over the years I have seen quite a few accidents there and I know a thing or two about where and how they happen.
On the ring you have to pay attention to both the track conditions and the other drivers. It is not a modern track and thus it is very dangerous to make mistakes. People get killed at the ring every year so discipline and restraint is essential.
first tailgate at hocheichen and then honk the horn when the guy sacrifices his line. classy. then going inside a motorcycle at adenauer forst while there's a "öhlspur"-sign on the inside.
@bborud He honked because the civic should've gave up his lane much earlier... And when there was a clear opening to take, the civic suddenly changed his mind to go into the inside lane, but then pulled out when he FINALLY noticed the Mini GP was there already. Sorry to sound like I'm protecting the guy who made this video, but a lot of his anger can be related to by a lot of others.
@itisphillip the Civic didn't suddenly change his mind -- he was trying to take the proper line through Hocheichen and had to compromise since the guy in the Mini was too impatient to wait for the straight after Hocheichen.
What is not obvious from the video is that Hocheichen is a tricky corner because of the camber changes. It is not a place where you want to interfere with other cars driven by people whose skill level you do not know. The Mini driver should have waited another 4 seconds.
@itisphillip there is precisely one high grip path through the Hocheichen combo and you set up for it on entry to the right-hander just before. Once on that line every driver who knows the lines on the ring knows what comes next. The civic compromised his corner severely because the Mini was pushy. The difference between the correct line through Hocheichen and the outside line is very dramatic because the corner is heavily cambered.
Awesome vid. Total respect for takin on the RING. I would be scared if i broke it. But i am savin for JCW Mini, only got a 2008 MINI ONE its my 1st car as i am only 20. What is like drivin on the ring?
@frigo1966 i can find those tires anywhere in the web. do you know from where i can simply them?please i need the best tire for my mini as soon as possible.

nice round, but not real about 8.00 min.. need to take the time from BTG Audi to Bilstein. there about 20- 25 sec left on your video.
but i think on free round you could drive about 8.00min :-)
