Very delicious, i remenber good times, good movies, and when the nannys and maidens in general was good, before the governament put hates between us, and keep money both us. but i love so much this song, kiss for all Roberto Moreira from Brasil rrobertoms@uol.com.br
Why, I wonder, are you smiling,Smiling in your slumber deep? Are the angels on you smiling And beguiling you with charm,While you also smile, my blossom,
In my bosom soft and warm?Have no fear now, leaves are knocking,Gently knocking at our door;Have no fear, waves are beating,Gently beating on the shore.Sleep my darling, none shall harm you Nor alarm you, never cry,
In my bosom sweetly smiling And beguiling those on high...
To my Lullaby surrender,Warm and tender is my breast;Mother's arm s with love caressing Lay their blessing on your rest;Nothing shall tonight alarm you,None shall harm you, have no fear;Lie contented, calmly slumber On your mother's breast, my dear. Here tonight I tightly hold you&enfold you while you sleep
@kinteali PROVIDED THESE ARE THE ACTUAL WORDS IN WELSH HERE IS THE TRANSLATION Sleep my child in my bosom Warm and cozy this; Mother's arms tight thee, Mother's love in my breast; No cha 'no disturb naps, Does not make a solo with you step; Sleep in peace, dear child, Sleep gently on the breast of thy mother.
I was taught that the youth are more susceptable to spirits because they are still very pure. Maybe thats why their voices are so Angelic for a short time?
It gives one hope that in this world. This tiny planet which so many exist on can have the free ability to listen to something as moving as this and say to ourselves, Isn't this worth stopping all the fighting? Isn't this worth just stopping everthing just to listen to even for just a few minutes?
So many people relate to this song, which was used in "Empire of the Sun". Though few, if any of us have experienced what the film showed, universal themes of love, family, youth, loss, uncertainty, and reunion, touch us all. This song - about a mother's unconditional love and protection - contrasted with the horrors shown in the movie, making it all the more haunting and poignant.
It is, none of these boys (or any boys in choirs) have started puberty, thats why they're in the choir, because they voices havent broken, you can see how young they are..
Though I'm Polish I remember this song from childhood from Spielberg film. It was like a being in different world. I've got on my mind the scene with kamikaze. The sad story...
The lyrics, in case anyone was interested. [If anyone notices any mistakes, please let me know. I don't speak Welsh; I got these lyrics from Wikipedia.]
A truly astounding performance of one of the loveliest lullabies I have ever heard - diolch yn fawr!

@56ALEXX it's a traditional welsh lullaby with an unknown composer, but it probably has roots in the 17th century.

Suo Gan (Lyrics translate into English)
Sleep in peace tonight, sleep,
O sleep gently, what a sight.
A smile I see in slumber deep,
What visions make your face bright?
Are the angels above smiling,
At you in your peaceful rest?
Are you beaming back while in
Peaceful slumber on mother's breast?

Suo Gan (Lyrics translate into English)
Do not fear the sound, it's a breeze
Brushing leaves against the door.
Do not dread the murmuring seas,
Lonely waves washing the shore.
Sleep child mine, there's nothing here,
While in slumber at my breast,
Angels smiling, have no fear,
Holy angels guard your rest.

The only thing missing here, is a woman.
This is a lullaby sung by a mother to her baby.
Is there a version of Suo Gan sung by a woman?
