The lens actually focuses much faster than this... YOU DO NOT TEST FOCUS SPEED WITH THE LENS CAP STILL ON. The camera will deliberately slow down the focusing because there is no feedback.
glamterra hi i wanna ask you for Canon T3i This len is good for my T3i? Should i buy from Ebay? What do you suggest? Or must buy some more expensive len? I wanna len for photo at my room and at out of house. If you respond to me thank you very much friend.

I appreciate the comments (good or Bad) ... The truth should prevail.
@Alfeetoe : I live in India, so I apologize I think I gave you the Indian gray market prices .... Lolz :) , but I had seen an offer on ebay, as LucidExposure has mentioned, that gave the same price range.
All you need is to strike the right deal.
As I slide into the next shot of rum,
Cheers to everyone ....... May you capture what you imagine !

for a person buying a new camera, a good deal would be :
1) Camera : Canon Rebel series EOS 500D or 550D (without the kit lens 35-55mm f3.5-5, just a waste of money) You straight away save around $100.
2) Lenses : a) A prime lens for close, sharp & artistic pictures : EF50mm f/1.8 II lens Cost : Around $ 80 -100 b) A telephoto lens for zoomed photography like nature & chicks !!! : Canon 55-250mm 4-5.6 IS lens Cost : Around $ 120 -
@aquacandy1984 Where did you see the 55-250 4-5.6 IS for $120-$130? The cheapest I ever found was $205, so your post is a bit misleading to people. Then again, if you can let us know where such a deal can be found, my point is moot.
@aquacandy1984 and when you are in a situation where you need to get a group shot inside a tight room? LOL! I beg to differ on your opinion of the kit lens... The kit lens is perhaps the most underrated lens in the Canon range just because of its build quality and looks. I you are a starter and in a tight budget get the 18-55IS kit lens. The IQ of this lens is very good for starters and it has IS. But I agree with the 55-250mm and the 50mm 1.8.. these are my lenses to date. Cheers!
Does your images also get dark and blurry ? My photos get`s really dark and i need to have quite long shutter speeds to get a bright picture . I think the 18-55 lens gives brighter shots . The blur is because it`s really hard to keep the camera still whit this lens on whitout a tripod . No i think i will return this lens and buy something else . Maybe a superzoom camera becuase i am not very happy whit my 1000d
This and other efs's lenses 18-55is, 10-22, will work on a 1DMKII or full frame, if ur interested send me note and I will give you the link for the pdf file with step by step instructions
how did you zoom with it without touching the lens?
NewJersey117 2 months ago
@NewJersey117 He didn't. The lens extends when it focuses.

your not suppose to touch the lens while in af mode
devonyea100 7 months ago
@devonyea100 What do you mean?
glamterra 7 months ago 5
@glamterra he's just using the zoom ring - you're not supposed to twist the focus in auto since the motor's still engaged. He's not doing that.
alheeley 5 months ago
@devonyea100 what he's doing is safe. what's not safe is to touch the focus ring while in AF mode, it will damage the lens for sure
gabiel19 4 months ago
@gabiel19 OH OK THX
devonyea100 4 months ago
@devonyea100 he is holding the zoom ring not the focus.
Stepanik7 4 months ago
@devonyea100 what he did was fine. he was changing the zoom. he was not touching the focus ring.

Im a noob so i need an answer to this ^^ Which will zoom further? This lens, 24-70mm, or 18-135mm?
Appleaddict22 1 year ago
@Appleaddict22 - 135mm. The longer the focal length the more zoom.
glamterra 1 year ago
@Appleaddict22 The 55-250 will actually be a longer focal length.
dannggken 6 months ago
@Appleaddict22 This 55-250 lens. 250mm is great for mid-telephoto zoom.

Negative, though you can hear it when you have your eye to the camera. But even then its quiet.

By leaving the lens cap on you can see how long it takes to move through the whole range.
