he said in other interviews that he made Star Wars for himself. It just happened that people enjoyed them. and with the prequels he also uses ALL his OWN money for these movies and made them the way he wanted. he doesn't care if people say they are horrible because he made them for his own enjoyment and exactly the way he wanted. so props to you Lucas!
