This is far fro mthe original, but it's compelling. I would love to see more original productions of Threepenny; it's one of the best pieces of stage opera in our time. It would also to see more of the kind of thing represented in this video. Weill is timeless and his music transcends interpretation.
I wish they would do the whole Threepenny Opera in this fashion! It would be an smashing success and I'm sure the original version would also attract a lot of interest.
Sorry for those who disapprove of newer versions. Sometimes they are really crappy but I don't think this is the case at all.
I love Ute Lemper, and although this is not Weill/Brecht style, obviously, I think this was a wonderful project. Neil Hannon's performance astonishes me as well. Two great voices.
It's......different; but that doesn't make it an invalid interpretation. I might prefer a more conventional performance by e. g. Annie Ross, Georgia Brown or even [early] Lotte Lenya but this grows on me. Whatever you may think of the musical arrangement, the libretto is beautifully enunciated and the singers complement each other.
no words. Just beauty...

Great song, great singers, overproduced for my taste.

Why, why, why do people insist on using crappy English translations when we have Marc Blitzstein's masterly English lyrics?
