and one other big thing in the '04 royal rumble was the hinting at original Undertaker was coming back to wrestle Kane, who then got eliminated and chokeslammed Spike Dudley before he could even get in the ring XD
IMO the end of the IC title match @ RR '98 was one of the best things ive ever seen. the Rock hits Ken Shamrock with brass knucks an then hides them in Shamrock's trunks, Shamrock then goes on to cleanly beat the Rock. As Shamrock celebrates the rock tells the ref Shamrock cheated, ref finds the knucks and DQ's Shamrock. Shamrock then goes postal and puts the ankle lock on the ref. comedy gold and rock gets a load of heat for the actual RR match
right on with the lex luger debut, but heenan did do a great job to get it over and get him over whenever he was wrestling "YOU HAVE A REASON TO LOVE YOURSELF, YOU HAVE A REASON!!!!"
Royal Rumble 2003 was alright, even though it was obvious that Brock would win. The Kurt Angle-Chris Benoit was a great match. Royal Rumble 2004 I have to defend b/c that was my first wrestling event I ever went to, and I predicted Chris Benoit would win, and he won. Made my day right there. Even though Ernest The Cat Miller dancing in the middle of the match was pretty pointless. Triple H-Shawn Michaels match was pretty good if you exclude that it finished in a draw.
I think the best Royal Rumble Match is a tie between 1990 and 1992. There's nothing but legends that filled #1 - #30. These Rumbles were prior to the WM #1 contender stipulation, which didn't start until 1993.
And what about the Slaughter vs. Warrior Title Match at 1991.....the reaction of the crowd when Warrior got pinned.
Gimmicks notoriously come and go in wrestling and have forever,it seems. But mark Callaway gave the Undertaker a life of its own and I have to admit that I never thought he'd still be going strong 20 years later.
nobody mentioned that '95 was the worst RR ever? that whole show SUCKED! the rumble match was like 40 minutes. and the under card sucked too. i also agree that '99 sucked top to bottom too.i ALMOST went back to watching wcw after that '99 RR, almost. Brock winning in '03 was so f'n obvious that it completely ruined the show for me. that was the least shocking win in RR history to me.'05 had great story lines, Raw vs. SD, Holly vs Puder, everybody vs. Hasan, WGTTM reunite. i was there for it.
@pchavez1981 Royal Rumble 1995 pretty much did suck. Not a huge fan of the Diesel/Bret match(far from their best, no finish), & the Rumble was god awful, but at least the Lawrence Taylor moment with Bigelow came off great, and I enjoyed the Jarrett/Razor IC title match(I thought they had great chemistry). Brock's winning was obvious, yes, but that didn't take away from it for me, probably because I was a fan. And I thought it was done awesomely, heh.
@WrestlingRoundtable That's just it,good moments do indeed come out of horrible PPVs,which makes them somewhat memorable. The '95 Rumble was a farce was the RR match itself only ad 1 minute intervals and all the participants were pretty much undercarders. The Bushwhackers & Well Dunn?PUH-LEEEZZEEEEEE!!!!!!
@pchavez1981 the 1998 was waay least shocking than in 03, everything was built around Austin at least in 03 u had Brock Lesnar stipulation against the big show and Undertaker's return and on RAW the feud between Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho
speaking of the Royal Rumble, do you expect Triple H to make his comeback at the Rumble 2011 much like Edge this year, I am unsure but I heard reports as of May he would be out of action for approx 8 months on a personal or family leave?
I agree with a lot of this except for any criticism of Triple H for not getting Scott Steiner through that match. You could even tell by Triple H's facial expressions during the match that he was getting frustrated but I also don't blame Steiner 100% either. That match never should have been booked to go over 20 minutes like it was. Probably should have been closer to the 12-15 minute mark, sort of the way Triple H/Booker T at SummerSlam
I love this. To throw in my opinion, I think the Rumble in 89 was almost like 2 rumbles in one. There was the first half leading up to the Hogan/Savage faceoff when Hogan eliminated him, and then everything that happened after.. the crowd was very tense after hogan tossed Savage over.. I honestly thought Beefcake was going to get the win because he had already been booked for 2 Intercontinental Title wins at the time in the past 2 ppv's which didn't pan out.. loved it.
I remember watching the Royal Rumble live at the time with no sound and therefore I couldn't make heads or tails out of the whole thing with the Undertaker rising up to the rafters, but I did hear even then that Undertaker was taking time off with the birth of his son.
Just because everyone thought that Austin was going to win the rumble. Yet Mcmahon came in and threw Austin over at the end of the match, with The Rock getting involved. It really set up a Wrestlemania main event that was one of the best WM main events that they ever put together.
Best Rumble: 1992- Ric Flair wins in a star-packed rumble. Worst: 2003 Boston- I was in attendance for that crapfest. Steiner sucked ass and the Rumble was half-assed.
1992 was my favourite show and rumble match itself. almost everyone of the 30 guys was a household name, and I'm from the UK! the wwf was huge in Europe back then. do you guys think HBK vs Taker should be the main event at WM26? as it should have been last year....
@TheBigBadWoIf Hell yeah she did! Although it was short, it definitely was not sweet. It was one of the most disturbing things any of us have ever seen on a WWE show.
One of worst rumble matches in my opinion is 1995 because Michaels, Bulldog, and Lex were the only believable winners in it even Michaels won at No.1. Lack of starpower is easily seen in that match and it was stale between being and end.

However, with to HW chmapionships its not as prestigious anymore. Personally the best match of the night turns out to be the main event in my opinion. For example last years WM main event turned out to be Taker vs Michaels and there was championship on the line. THe only title on the line was taker unbeaten streak.
It just would have been nice if they had followed Studd's win up win a run at the title or at least have him challenge for the title.Although Randy Savage was champion then and he was a babyface turning heel at the time,Hulk Hogan had created a glass ceiling for everybody.
It might be, but I wouldn't know because I use Macs, heh. And I used it because I love Beethoven(I believe that is the beginning of the first or 2nd movement of Symphony No. 9). I'm glad you knew who it was :)
2005 Funny call about Vince I thought when he sat down and his face went odd he had shit himself. And to be honest maybe he did. Either way thank you God for that. I love you :).
You Guys didn't mention when Jake the Snake was in the Rumble of 96 when he brought his snake to the Ring and Every Wrestler left the Ring Including Jerry Lawler.
Best Royal Rumble Overall where 1998 that when Austin Won the Rumble for the Second Time,Taker and Shawn and Mike Tyson was the Arena Watching with Shane McMahon before Shane be on TV in August of 98,2000 The Card was good,Triple H and Cactus in a street fight, and Replaying TAKA throughout the Rumble, and maybe 91 was good,The Undercard was a Improvement than 90,Slaughter beating Warrior and Hogan Winning the Rumble for the Second Time to face Slaughter at Wrestlemania for the Belt
Best Match where Triple H and Cactus Jack in the Street Fight in the Rumble 2000,Kurt Angle vs He in 03 Rumble,Diesel AKA 7 Foot Hogan vs Bret Hart for the WWF Title with a Time Limit Draw in th 95 Royal Rumble one of their good matches for Nash,Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker for the WWF Title in a Casket Match and the 1992 Royal Rumble Match that when Ric Flair Became Champion and that was his big moment during his WWF Run
Best Moment when Owen Turned on his brother Bret,Austin Winning his first Rumble in 97 and showing the seeds of Bret Hart Turning Heel,Maven Eliminating The Undertaker in 02,Sid Eliminating Hogan in the 92 Rumble and Flair Eliminating Sid to win the WWF Championship in that same Royal Rumble,Orton Destroy the Momentum of Jeff Hardy to win the WWE Championship Belt, and Matt Hardy cost Jeff Hardy the Match against Edge
I Didn't Like 06 Rumble, The Boogeyman was on it, The Spirit Squad was on it to excited the Crowd and The Undertaker comes to the end explored the ring while Angle was in it and Cena Won the Title over Edge plus The Royal Rumble was third to last on the card
99 Royal Rumble Overall was the worst. The Undercard was shit, Vince Winning It by throwing 1 Wrestler compared to Panic at the Disco winning the 06 VMAs for Video of the Year, and the Shitty Attitude Era and was the Downfall of the Attitude Era
Worst Match has to be Kurt Angle vs Mark Henry for the Big Gold Belt and that was not good match for Angle and I Agreed with Triple H and Scott Steiner. How Many fucking Belly to Belly Suplex that Steiner used and that moment when he tried to do the double underhook suplex on Triple H but he fall as well
Worst Moment was when the British Bulldog thought he won the Rumble by throwing out Shawn Michaels, then his music is started to play but out of nowhere. Michaels push the Bulldog out the ring and he won the rumble and because his both feet did not touched the floor and The British Bulldog was fooled in that Royal Rumble
That was a terrible tease and I even knew when I watched it live at the time that something was fishy before I saw Shawn Michaels sneak up from behind and eliminate him.
Surprised there was no mention of 1995. HBK and Bulldog having the classic final 2 confrontation. Razor and Jarretts IC title match. Diesel and Bret Hart. 123 Kid/Holly vs. Bam Bam/Tatanka...
Then again, even WrestleMania sucked that year and WWE might have been at their lowest point ever that year;between 1992-1997 was their serious downtime.
Surprised there was no mention of 95 RR. The segment with HBK and Britishbulldog, and Shawn only with one foot touching. Solid Razor Ramon and Jeff Jarrett match. Diesel and Bret had a great match, 123 Kid/Holly vs. Tatanka/Bam Bam was a really good tag match...
@Criminology187 One of the worst Royal Rumbles ever, even the undercard stunk.Same with the '93 Rumble too, although Giant Gonzales "coming out of nowhere" to jump the Undertaker was good shock value.it's just unfortunate that their feud never really took off like it should have.
Worst moment for me, John Cena's "surprise" #30 entrance the year before last. Not just because it's Cena, but the fact that it was so telegraphed, and had zero surprise for anyone with an IQ over 60.
A lot of people will think that I'm saying it because I hate Cena, but like I said, the buildup really meant nothing since the end was so obvious.
Hell yeah, a new Wrestling Roundtable! *cracks open a beer*
lots of good memories guys, I always try to at least rent the and/or buy the RR on dvd later on. the last one i saw on live on ppv though was in 2002, with Mr. Perfect....that was cool.
Agreed 100%!A lame undercard(they all are, pretty much),1 minute intervals, and the lack of bonafide superstars in the RR match itself. It was mainly all undercarders,as if anybody picked either of the Bushwhackers to win it.LOL
quick question, I thought who ever won the Royal rumble gets the main event title match at Wrestlemania. Besisdes Orton last year, the royal Rumble winner hasn't main evented Wrestlemania which totally defeats the purpose of the Royal Rumble.
Ever since wwe went to two betls the rumble winner gets to choose who to face at mania & it dosen't garantee it will be the main event as there is 2 title matches.
Orton won & main evented last year, Batista did in 2005, Benoit did in 2004, Lesnar did in 2003 & Triple H in 2002. They haven't been main eventing recently, sure, but they have in the past. Who knows - maybe Edge will main event this year.
yeah, maybe. That means that 3 out of the last four years, a Royal Rumble Winner hasn't main evented(Orton being the only one since Batista did in 05)
True, good match. Jericho/ and that guy with ladders, great match. Angle/Benoit in 03 was fantastic tooo. I knew you would like YOUMANGA/CENA match. 2002 is a sentimental favourite for me, and 2000 was good. 2003 was also pretty good. CM Punk was phenomenal in this years rumble.
Oh god mae youngs tits, ughhh, i still shudder to this day. Lol, that was a horrible match, What annoyed me was Chavo Guerrero as ecw champion being the rumble in one of those years. Boogeyman beating Jbl was painful from 2006. And heidenreich/taker casket match was horrible. Ohh yeah i remember that orton burial. I thought 06/07 was quite bad. Lol, i agree with most of the great moments. The wwe title online in 1992 and true i laughed when orton won. Lol, mr perfect is amazing.
Love the episode guys, but how could you forget to mention RR 92 Ric Flair winning it, aka his performance was so good, he deserved an Oscar!! His reaction as #3 everything in that matc, classic moment when Piper came in and Flair's face was priceless. Bobby Heenan doing color comentary to Flair's survival in the match was GOLD!! You didn't mention Flair winning it come on guys lol
I'll grant you perhaps we didn't go in to as much detail as we should have, been we've talked about it many times on the show before & I agree it was great for all the reasons you mentioned & more
Yeah sorry about that, I did recall the other time. Still I agree with your other favorite moments, and I have to give your show props, because you guys aren't your wrestling critics, your more like a group of friends who loved groing with pro-wrestling and still chill and hang out on ppv's, kind of like me and my crew and others. I would "mark out" if I had a seat on your table guys.
That and Chris Benoit's 2004 Rumble win were the 2 greatest Royal Rumble matches ever.I'm not glorifying Chris Benoit's hanging himself after murdering his family, but that win was his reward for many, many years of hard work and toughing it out in WCW where him and all the other cruiserweights weren't getting the respect and credit they deserved.
@StanPowder I like how Ric Flair sold that as if he had absolutely no idea that it would be Piper to come out next. That Rumble match may very well be the best ever.
Rock and Mankind in 99 still stands as my favorite RR match. I thought they added a lot to that match. I.E. Rock getting on the headset in the middle of the match. But he did that several times in his matches. Of course I was big Rock mark and marked out for anything he did.
Leconte's right. Benjamin spent more time in last year's RR than in the previous 4 combined. He has spent the least time in the RR on AVG fo someone of his tenure
@WrestlingRoundtable That and you look like Drew Mcintyre. Congrats on the new Radio Series. Maybe we can hear that series via podcast so people who don't live on The East Coast can listen to it via their Apple Ipods and Microsoft Zunes?
@WrestlingRoundtable I have to agree with you guys on most of what you said especially Royal Tumble 2004, maybe it was because they were really banking on The Rumble match being so good that's why they had these matches that were mediocre at best. I have to say for worst RR 2005. I mean the undercard I would argue was worst than 03 or or 04.
More often than not,the undercards at the Rumble are forgettable and some like in 1991 between Koko B.Ware vs.Mountie were nothing more than an excuse to go grab some snacks and use the washroom.
99 had the worst actual rumble. they spent little to no time in the ring. one of the drawing factors of the rumble is every man for himself. in 99 it was 29 men vs austin.
I remember enjoying Diesel coming out in 1994 and just dominating the match for a good amount of time. Tossing out everyone to the point where he had to wait minutes for the next guy. Got him over huge. Same thing with Austin in 1997.
I love Meng, hated Haku, ha. It just sucked(his return to WWF in 2001) because they didn't need him & it was really sad(what the whole situation said about WCW, right at the end), like kicking someone on their deathbed, ha. Besides, Meng was awesome & Haku was nothing! :)
That was a joke and perhaps the worst Royal Rumble ever! They threw in the Bushwhackers,Well Dunn,& the Heavenly Bodies into the RR match itself and the one minute intervals made it such a farce. It was just as well that Shawn Michaels didn't win the WWE Title for another year because Diesel was the least memorable champion ever!
@ECWFAN545 It was one of those comical moments for sure, but I thought there was no place for that in the RR match itself because it's supposed to be a serious winner is #1 contender for the title match at Wrestlemania contest.
Funny how you guys brought up Vince in the 05 rumble. I was there with a friend and we started to bust up when we saw him fall and then scream at the ref to bring him a mic while sitting down LOL. I have to say the best Rumle match ever is the Ric flair win in 92 it was just well down. Flair in the first two and just sneaking a win to gain the world title just Brilliant.
Bring back the original hosts!!!!!! But still a great show. Best moments..(tied), #1Demolition drawing 1 and 2 and #2 Mr Perfect surprise return. Worst was HHH and Steiner bar none the shittiest matches i have ever seen.
The recorded "I quit" was dumb...but the empty arena match during Halftime Heat...just for the ending alone, ugh.
Taker/HBK worked because those were the two everyone thought would win. Usually they knock one of them out beforehand, making it easy to sort it out. When it was down to them two, ya had to throw the IWC book out.
I was SO DAMN sure #30 was Show at RR08.
And in Perfect's comeback they had him last all the way to the final three. You knew they wouldn't but you HAD to wonder...
The other thing with the HHH/Orton match was...well, nowadays it's the mass consensus that Orton can't play the babyface. I think he totally could, as long as crap like that doesn't go down. And he does play a better heel than face (not by much IMO), but I think he could if WWE wanted to go that way like they seem to be doin with the Legacy angle.
i just watched 1988 rumble, very very bad rumble, worst in my opinion.

IMO the end of the IC title match @ RR '98 was one of the best things ive ever seen. the Rock hits Ken Shamrock with brass knucks an then hides them in Shamrock's trunks, Shamrock then goes on to cleanly beat the Rock. It might be, but I wouldn't know because I use Macs, heh. And I used it because I love Beethoven(I believe that is the beginning of the first or 2nd movement of Symphony No. 9). I'm glad you knew who it was :)

Stone Cold's '98 win was predictable, but not his '97 win so much, although it had all the elements of serious presentation and comedy combined.

DiegoGurrolo 1 year ago
99 Royal Rumble Overall was the worst. The Undercard was shit, Vince Winning It by throwing 1 Wrestler compared to Panic at the Disco winning the 06 VMAs for Video of the Year, and the Shitty Attitude Era and was the Downfall of the Attitude Era
DiegoGurrolo 1 year ago
Worst Match has to be Kurt Angle vs Mark Henry for the Big Gold Belt and that was not good match for Angle and I Agreed with Triple H and Scott Steiner. How Many fucking Belly to Belly Suplex that Steiner used and that moment when he tried to do the double underhook suplex on Triple H but he fall as well
DiegoGurrolo 1 year ago
Worst Moment was when the British Bulldog thought he won the Rumble by throwing out Shawn Michaels, then his music is started to play but out of nowhere. Michaels push the Bulldog out the ring and he won the rumble and because his both feet did not touched the floor and The British Bulldog was fooled in that Royal Rumble
DiegoGurrolo 1 year ago
That was a terrible tease and I even knew when I watched it live at the time that something was fishy before I saw Shawn Michaels sneak up from behind and eliminate him.

Surprised there was no mention of 1995. HBK and Bulldog having the classic final 2 confrontation. Razor and Jarretts IC title match. Diesel and Bret Hart. 123 Kid/Holly vs. Bam Bam/Tatanka...
Criminology187 1 year ago
Then again, even WrestleMania sucked that year and WWE might have been at their lowest point ever that year;between 1992-1997 was their serious downtime.
landrykkb 1 year ago
Surprised there was no mention of 95 RR. The segment with HBK and Britishbulldog, and Shawn only with one foot touching. Solid Razor Ramon and Jeff Jarrett match. Diesel and Bret had a great match, 123 Kid/Holly vs. Tatanka/Bam Bam was a really good tag match...
Criminology187 1 year ago
@Criminology187 One of the worst Royal Rumbles ever, even the undercard stunk.Same with the '93 Rumble too, although Giant Gonzales "coming out of nowhere" to jump the Undertaker was good shock value.it's just unfortunate that their feud never really took off like it should have.
landrykkb 1 year ago
Worst moment for me, John Cena's "surprise" #30 entrance the year before last. Not just because it's Cena, but the fact that it was so telegraphed, and had zero surprise for anyone with an IQ over 60.
A lot of people will think that I'm saying it because I hate Cena, but like I said, the buildup really meant nothing since the end was so obvious.
RowdyRodimus 1 year ago
Usually,the #30 spot is reserved for a lower mid-carder.

1995 WORST RUMBLE EVER!!!!!!!!!
chriswarden420 1 year ago
Agreed 100%!A lame undercard(they all are, pretty much),1 minute intervals, and the lack of bonafide superstars in the RR match itself. It was mainly all undercarders,as if anybody picked either of the Bushwhackers to win it.LOL
landrykkb 1 year ago
I really liked at Royal Rumble 1992 when Macho Man ran out to enter the Rumble and Roberts hid under the ring.
instantclassicg1 1 year ago
quick question, I thought who ever won the Royal rumble gets the main event title match at Wrestlemania. Besisdes Orton last year, the royal Rumble winner hasn't main evented Wrestlemania which totally defeats the purpose of the Royal Rumble.
AndudeDrew 1 year ago
Ever since wwe went to two betls the rumble winner gets to choose who to face at mania & it dosen't garantee it will be the main event as there is 2 title matches.
chriswarden420 1 year ago
Orton won & main evented last year, Batista did in 2005, Benoit did in 2004, Lesnar did in 2003 & Triple H in 2002. They haven't been main eventing recently, sure, but they have in the past. Who knows - maybe Edge will main event this year.
Dreadpirate46 1 year ago
yeah, maybe. That means that 3 out of the last four years, a Royal Rumble Winner hasn't main evented(Orton being the only one since Batista did in 05)

Hi wrestling roundtable, LOVE your show I have subscription via, YouTube. My ? is do you have any WRT on dvd's and how can i get them
wweboy21 1 year ago
True, good match. Jericho/ and that guy with ladders, great match. Angle/Benoit in 03 was fantastic tooo. I knew you would like YOUMANGA/CENA match. 2002 is a sentimental favourite for me, and 2000 was good. 2003 was also pretty good. CM Punk was phenomenal in this years rumble.
roh1234 1 year ago
Oh god mae youngs tits, ughhh, i still shudder to this day. Lol, that was a horrible match, What annoyed me was Chavo Guerrero as ecw champion being the rumble in one of those years. Boogeyman beating Jbl was painful from 2006. And heidenreich/taker casket match was horrible. Ohh yeah i remember that orton burial. I thought 06/07 was quite bad. Lol, i agree with most of the great moments. The wwe title online in 1992 and true i laughed when orton won. Lol, mr perfect is amazing.
roh1234 1 year ago
Thank God I never saw Mae Young exposing herself because I didn't start watching it until just before the Rumble match itself started that year.

@WrestlingRoundtable i believe you talked about flair winning that rumble durring the gimmick show
CQ1981331 1 year ago
That and Chris Benoit's 2004 Rumble win were the 2 greatest Royal Rumble matches ever.I'm not glorifying Chris Benoit's hanging himself after murdering his family, but that win was his reward for many, many years of hard work and toughing it out in WCW where him and all the other cruiserweights weren't getting the respect and credit they deserved.
landrykkb 1 year ago
@StanPowder I like how Ric Flair sold that as if he had absolutely no idea that it would be Piper to come out next. That Rumble match may very well be the best ever.
landrykkb 1 year ago
Rock and Mankind in 99 still stands as my favorite RR match. I thought they added a lot to that match. I.E. Rock getting on the headset in the middle of the match. But he did that several times in his matches. Of course I was big Rock mark and marked out for anything he did.
KayfabeKillers 1 year ago
Leconte's right. Benjamin spent more time in last year's RR than in the previous 4 combined. He has spent the least time in the RR on AVG fo someone of his tenure

Question does WWE even care about the Royal Rumble undercard?
A lot of the worst moments mentioned were from the undercard when we all know the only reason the PPV gets buys is for the actual Royal Rumble match.
RichieRich623 1 year ago
Interesting point, though they at least seem to make an effort in terms of World title matches, but interesting nonetheless.
-E, Wrestling Roundtable
WrestlingRoundtable 1 year ago
@WrestlingRoundtable I have to agree with you guys on most of what you said especially Royal Tumble 2004, maybe it was because they were really banking on The Rumble match being so good that's why they had these matches that were mediocre at best. I have to say for worst RR 2005. I mean the undercard I would argue was worst than 03 or or 04.
Sweetguy9009 1 year ago
More often than not,the undercards at the Rumble are forgettable and some like in 1991 between Koko B.Ware vs.Mountie were nothing more than an excuse to go grab some snacks and use the washroom.
landrykkb 1 year ago
99 had the worst actual rumble. they spent little to no time in the ring. one of the drawing factors of the rumble is every man for himself. in 99 it was 29 men vs austin.

That was so fucking gay. And the Ending of it was Shit! 99 is DEFINITELY

The best Royal Rumble had to be 1992. The title was on the line in the Rumble.

I remember enjoying Diesel coming out in 1994 and just dominating the match for a good amount of time. Tossing out everyone to the point where he had to wait minutes for the next guy. Got him over huge. Same thing with Austin in 1997.
homebrewer03 1 year ago
To go further with the Shelton Benjamin point: he is the only guy to be eliminated by the same guy three years in a row: Shawn Michaels.

Eric, what's your problem with Meng/Haku?
sundancekid726 1 year ago
That's the word!
-E, Wrestling Roundtable

of course they didn't need him, but its Haku....how do you not put him on your roster? I'd mark out if he came out now!

i was not a huge fan of RR '95, it was way too short and led to an underwhelming title match at wrestlemania XI (not hbk's fault at all though)
bigpoppachuck 1 year ago 2
That was a joke and perhaps the worst Royal Rumble ever! They threw in the Bushwhackers,Well Dunn,& the Heavenly Bodies into the RR match itself and the one minute intervals made it such a farce. It was just as well that Shawn Michaels didn't win the WWE Title for another year because Diesel was the least memorable champion ever!
landrykkb 1 year ago
I think it's safe to say that the Royal Rumble is one of the few PPV's where you have bad moments, because usually the Royal Rumble is a good show.
MrWrestlingman85 1 year ago
Drew Carey in the Royal Rumble and trying to give Kane money not to eliminate him was great.
ECWFAN545 1 year ago 2

It wasn't so much that the Steiner/HHH match sucked, but it was just that they pushed Big Poppa Pomp too soon after his WWE debut.

@vedder316 Mr.Perfect's '02 comeback wasn't really a surprise because it was announced in all the wrestling rapsheets at the time.

vedder316 1 year ago
Scott Steiner ruined it all for me XD
The same thing happened with Kevin Nash in the Hell in a Cell match.
I'm guessing that Triple H had as much to blame.
Frank15982 1 year ago
The recorded "I quit" was dumb...but the empty arena match during Halftime Heat...just for the ending alone, ugh.
Taker/HBK worked because those were the two everyone thought would win. Usually they knock one of them out beforehand, making it easy to sort it out. When it was down to them two, ya had to throw the IWC book out.
I was SO DAMN sure #30 was Show at RR08.
And in Perfect's comeback they had him last all the way to the final three. You knew they wouldn't but you HAD to wonder...
PowerlineWC 1 year ago
The other thing with the HHH/Orton match was...well, nowadays it's the mass consensus that Orton can't play the babyface. I think he totally could, as long as crap like that doesn't go down. And he does play a better heel than face (not by much IMO), but I think he could if WWE wanted to go that way like they seem to be doin with the Legacy angle.

great video as usual..Hands down imo is the 92 Rumble, and possibly the best colour commentry of all time from Heenan on Flairs win..
