It's nice to see and hear my friend Kevin kicking ass on the B3. I've played with Kevin back in the mid 70's. He's a real genius and very nice cat. Hey Kevin, I'm picking up your CD. Great job!!!
@peppersax Right on man! I love Kev he's a musical genius and a true pleasure to work with. hit us on facebook we are ramping up for this next year to get out there! I'll tell Kev to shoot you a line and thank you!
i know this is a random message but whats that thing called next to your drums close to your organ player, ive always seen it but dont know what its called.. great players great music
@seanieboy2725 If you are asking about the box with all of the knobs? If so, it's a headphone mixer module from hear technologies. It's part of the Hearback system they sell. It allows each person recording to make thier own headphone mix based off of what the engineer feeds to the 10 available channels. I have the same system in my studio and it is awesome. all the mixers connect with cat5 so its simple and sounds great. they sell for about 1499.99 for the basic setup
@michaelcurtisjr wow thats expensive what do people really need it for, i used to think i had some pretty good gear but wow ive been looking up the things you use to record your videos, i need that APOGEE!! i dont have a good enough interface with enough channels to record my drums :(
@seanieboy2725 It makes things go much smoother. I would say that if you have a good mix in your headphones your performance will be better on your recording. If you have say a headphone amp where everyone shares the same mix it is almost impossible to make everyone happy. This really applies when recording more than one person at a time, obviously. I am a huge fan of the presonus interfaces. They are priced right and sound great. If you get an interface with ADAT in you can add apogee converts
You don't have to have the most expensive interface either.
Yes you can spend ridiculous amounts of money. If I had unlimited money I would have a huge Apogee Symphony system with a 12 core mac pro....however I live in the real world currently so.... The best advice I can give is buy once. Don't buy the cheap gear that promises the world. Get the good stuff. ( not the best) It took me almost 20 years of collecting gear to get where I am. The Pearl Drummers Forum is a great resource as well.
Very, very nice! Love the music and performance! Looking forward to your CD. I'm so happy and grateful that great music lives on and there are true musicians pressing on, developing their skills to be able to communicate in the language of music. I'm a fan. All the best you and keep it coming!
@grooveman08 Thanks much man! We are mixing still as we decided to do another couple sessions in order to have the project to 90% original. It's taking a bit longer, but we would rather it take longer and be happy with what we put out! Thanks again!
@robdrums69 I agree age adds a huge amount of perspective musically. In my early years of playing I Marched and focused on the mechanics of playing, I find it sometimes difficult to explain things im playing, only because It's not as if we plan out what we are gonna play, or even think about mechanics or sticking.... We listen and comp. And mostly try to make it groove! Thanks for your great comments.
I agree with Pacific707- I've been playing drums now since I was 11 and I'm now 40 and it's not until you have played as long as either you or I have that you realize that (cont. above).
Not only is it the music - but the technique, and the emotions! You guys know how to read each other, grab your cues from each other, and simply get down with it. That's what makes a huge difference in what I see from other artists, and what I see and feel in you guys!
I love i! More please!
Can I find your music on CD? i'd really appreciate it if you would let me know. Just this simple video of you guys was enough to knock me off my feet! God - this feels so good......
@pacific707 Thanks so much for all of your kind words! It's refreshing to hear someone who understands that music is about communication. Kevin and Mick are both such amazing players that it makes my job easy. As far as our music we are in the the post process on our first CD. If the timing works out hopefully it should be available in the next 2 months. Thanks again! I'll let you know when the CD is done.
I love the ride cymbal. I'm considering getting the ZIldjian Armand Pack with this cymbal and others in it! Great job btw the whole band sounds great including you of course. Take care ;-)
got a question, ive been using my trusty old 14 new beats forever, wana try something new, i play jazz and latin, pop etc. i wana try these 13k/z, would this be a good replacement for my new beats? just want something new for a change. its either 14 k mastersound or 13k/z . thanks
That's a tough one I'm searching for some new hats myself. I would say whatever you decide I would get 14in. At least that way you can try several combinations with what you already have. You may find a mix between them that you like alot. This at least has been my experience. Good Luck sorry if this was a lame answer. :)
Thank you very much! I cant wait to sit down and actually mix this project! We had a great environment @ Vision Quest as well as great gear! Thanks again!
This is so awesome, I miss being in the studio.. Though i've never recorded a jazz standard. Was the bass pre-recorded? or was the bassist in another room?
Thanks man we are excited to put out a good recording. To answer your question... In an organ trio there is no bass player ! The Organist plays all the bass lines with his feet and left hand while his right hand does all the comping and soloing. It's quite an art. There are few authentic organ trios that actually play be-bop anymore. most of them are funk/groove based groups. Thanks again for your comments...much apreciation :)

A: less is more and B: listen to the band not yourself. this is when a band sounds like a band.
You have to feel each other or it just won't work. You guys have it! as I'm sure you know lol
Great work, check out my vids sometime. Click on my name, more coming soon....
