  • Holy shit! Picard and The Doctor in the same room!

    I MUST SEE THIS!

  • Thank you SO MUCH for this video. Going to see the Hamlet in January, paid my whole monthly wage for the whole trip so I hope it is worth it. I deeply feel with everyone who was unable to get a ticket - I had to buy it on eBay since the people at Novello were extremely unhelpful.

  • ..looks like you won't see Mr Tennant tho'

  • Went on the 18th sept - paid £12.50 for a row of circle - we did book day box office opened. There are returns every performance - its abit pot luck - but phone up RSC and ask which performances get most returns, they are helpful and are clearly enjoying the energy surrounding the production's run. try to get in to see it - it's a superb production. Good luck.

  • Well, I don't know what's against the law or not, and it's not like it's the whole production, just the stage bows - SO.

I, being stateside, thank you for just the glimpse - close as I'll ever get to seeing this play! :(

Stop taking yourselves so seriously, people. Not everyone can afford airfare and hundreds of dollar(or pounds)for tickets. Some of us are doomed to enjoy such things vicariously. I hardly think the poster is selling this bit on the black market... sheesh.

  • Yes, they bloody well should!

If you can't afford a ticket or weren't able to get one, well that's your problem. People who record and break theatre rules aren't the sort that even deserve to be there!

  • omg that was soo funny when i went 8-8-08 i sqwelled loads when he came out! at the end! haha and was clapping well load I was almost out of my seat with excitement *roll eyes* great preduction thou! i love shakespeare-plays! and David ;) lolz

  • the tickets were easily available, i got mine for £40 in october; so to say you couldn't get them for love nor money is wrong obviously you can't get them now but who would leave it so late if they really wanted to see it? I'm on row B - can't wait!!!

  • Thanks for posting I'll never get to see the show and I just wanted a brief look at the stage and ect so thanks again!

  • ME TOO !! EXACTLY!

    Thanx for posting this vid!

  • Ahhh this makes me so excited for when I go to see it! And 'onlyinkenya' well done, I completely agree with you!

  • I know a lot of people will appreciate you doing this but it IS illegal.

  • thats ok mate but so is selling the tickets on ebay for hundreds of pounds! i couldn't get a ticket for love nor money and thats no fair either, why should people profit like that? its not the whole play for goodness sake!

  • shut up ya idiot! Its no agaist the law get your facts right! idiot!

  • So why did you watch the video in the first place if you dont agree with it?

I am someone who is very strict with copyright and technically this isnt breaching any. Its not like any segment of the production is filmed, or any of the play is heard on the video. If you'd like me to go deeper into the situation i would gladly explain the law to you but come on, no RSC footage has been filmed so i do not see any problem.

  • I haven't watched the video. Haven't even thought about pressing the play button :P and I know this isn't breaching copyright, but they broke the RSC terms and conditions...the RSC even sent e-mails out about not recording ANY part of the play be it beginning, middle or indeed end (that includes the encore). That's good enough for me.

  • your a frigging idiot! this person is not selling it so what it was recorded!! Im a teen do you think I have £325 for a ticket from ebay? If you dont like this then get on your dam bike oh I forgot you will fall off! Ya prat!

  • well said mate as I am a single mum on disable benefits i find myself in the same boat...

  • I don't care what anyone else says, as a fan in the states this is as close as I'll get and THANKS for posting it. :)

  • This is the closest I'll get to David's Hamlet since I'm in the states. Thanks for uploading. I really appreciate it and I don't think filming at the bow hurts anything.

  • wow, bad fangirl...now thats out of the way ;) Thank You for uploading, It makes me want to fly out to the UK and see the play. I really hope it gets made into a DVD.

  • it is very bad to film in the theatre but thank you so much for this video..x

  • Thanks for filming this, its cool. :0)

And to all the idiots on here who have shouted about the 'rules' on not filming, well they really need to go and get laid. This is what Youtube is all about.

  • No it isnt what youtube is all about; you can't make up the rules as you go along - and people who suggest someone gets laid probably hasn't ever had a ahag, anyway

  • Tut tut, very naughty lol. Thank you though, as for some this is the closest we will get.

  • I want to say THANK YOU to the original poster. This is the closest I'll come to actually seeing it.

And my God people. She didn't record the whole bloody play. No one who has tickets to this play is suddenly going to be "oh you know what? I don't need to actually go see the play. I mean, I've already seen them taking a bow at the end. Who needs the whole play when you can see that?!?!" And recording at this time didn't interrupt the actors in any way so get off your high horse about it.

  • Despite the fact that this video may indeed be the closest some people have to seeing Hamlet, it is firmly against the rules to film at any point within the theatre and anyone who breaks those rules should not have the abbility to return to the RSC.

  • so should all those who sell their tickets on ebay for hundreds of pounds and prevent peolpe like me from being able to afford getting a ticket in the first place....

  • haha i love how david runs out & just looks like hes bout to fall over!

  • I went yesterday, personally i'm disgusted you recorded this, not only does it demoralise the show, annoy no doubt the people next to you, it also doesn't do any justice to any of the actors/actresses on stage or their performance, if you wanted a video of the cast, do what i did and go to the stage door!!

  • I was lucky enough to see Hamlet on my birthday (July 28th) and I know it's naughty, but it's wonderful to see David again being, well, just utterly beautiful! Thank you!

  • *Guh* David...

  • THANKS for getting this...Many of us in the USA will never make it to the play...I hope if it is not released for sale someone records the whole play and posts it.

  • Nobody would get away with recording it all at the RSC. You couldn't and shouldn't try. But I appreciate your dilemma over there... I should think it will be either brought over for US apperance there, or made into a DVD production properly by the RSC. I know nothing of these things, though, don't quote me, I'm just taking an educated guess.

  • The RSC is being inundated with requests for a DVD, but as i understand it, it needs an extra performance in a recording studio. Its not just a case of setting up a camera in the theatre and bobs your uncle!

Let's hope they can work something out with the actors and get a DVD out for Xmas!

PS thanks for the video, you have more balls than me!

  • Yes, I do realise that it is not just a case of 'fliming the gig', Cassandra. I am sure that there is a business plan in place which includes a filmed production, the profits of which would be diminished somewhat by the illegal bootlegs which are always appearing here. I know filming that the cast taking a bow is treason, but to film the whole production secretly is taking money from the RSC, from its actors (YES tht includes David) and from things they can do in future, & the quality wld suck:(

  • RSC are considering doing a DVD of Hamlet because of the popularity, just thought you might be interested!

  • Omg, that was so weird! Seeing the ultimate culmination of the play, without actually seeing the play! But really cool nonetheless. It is highly unlikely I will get to see the play, so it is wonderful to see David and the rest of the cast. It was only a curtain call, this recording could not have disturbed the performance. If they had seen someone recording but had not known it was only for the curtain call it may have made them feel uneasy I suppose. But unless it was noticeable, fine by me.

  • this is the closest i'll get to seeing David perform Hamlet, so huge thanks even for such a small moment. It may not have been dialogue or anything, but it still made me happy.

  • As a crime, I rank this below: talking on the mobile while driving, jumping a queue, singing along at a symphony concert, and rustling sweet wrappers during a show. I would put it on a par with crossing at a red light where there are no oncoming vehicles or pedestrians or cyclists in sight -- against the rules, but absolutely no harm done. Except to certain hyper-sensitive people here. She filmed a curtain call, people! Not the play! Chill! Theatre-goers have done worse, believe me!

  • It was great to see this, I know it was breaking the rules, but what harm has it done, to the person who had a real go at you, if you feel so bad about this, what the hell are you doing watching it?.

  • The play IS recorded so its not lost forever. They just don't sell it.

Whether you decide its ok or not you bought a ticket bound by terms and condition and broke the rules. Dustyboots27 is entirely correct

  • Yes it is recorded but it IS lost forever to everyone on the planet!!

It gets stuffed into the RSC archive.

Two years ago you could make an appointment to view a specific item in their archive ( I watched DT's Romeo and Juliet) now you suddenly cannot!!

So I think its going to be lost forever.

  • Thank you from All of us who typed in David Tennant Hamlet. Of course we all hoped someone would post something! Cheers!

  • I really don't see any problem with recording at this point. The play has finished, they're taking a bow!! How can there be any infringement in that?

I would never get to see this, though I would love to, and It is thanks to this person I have had a little taste of the essence of the show. Thank you for that. (By the way dustyboots27 I'm nearer to your age and I personally think you've got a very strange stance on this,)

  • Its good to see that somebody had the balls to break the rules. fucking well good vid

  • I certainly enjoyed seeing the cast again briefly - brought back all the good memories of that evening. And seeing David glance around at "everybody" before taking a bow, that was lovely too.

  • I would guess that when David Tennant said he as worried fans might do something stupid he was thinking more of a teenie-bopper running up on stage declaring their undying love or something... that would be disruptive! Not filming 46 secs of bowing at the end. That's not distracting the actors nor does it give anything away of their brilliant production/interpretation of the play. I feel think the language used on the negative comments is completely disproportionate to what the clip shows.

  • what is it with u dustyboots... DO U HATE KIDS OR SUMMAT .. out to get us... first u comment on mine * bout how we kids cant be bothered to spell etc etc* then u attack vicki.. get a life... we put videos on youtube for everyone else to enjoy. i dont see u having videos.. u just critise the young. GROW UP man act ur age.

  • what is it with u dustyboots... • People like you really annoy me. I think the person who should grow up is undoubtedly YOU. Wern't you ever a fan of someone and wanted to treasure the memories of the fabulous night you saw them in real life?! This is NOT breaking any rules whatsoever, so leave her alone!

  • oh shut up for goodnes sake you stuck up person. I am not in love with David Tennant coz I am gay and would love to go to the theatre more often, but idiots who buy tickets then sell on ebay prevent this go have a go at them they are the real criminals here. It was at the end of the play go and get a life

  • I've actually auctioned off tickets before, but it was to pay my dad's medical bills off so he wouldn't be in the whole... and yes I hate all of the people who prevent others from going...

  • You shouldn't have done this. Ok maybe you didn't record the whole play but that doesn't mean this is ok. And I didn't put David Tennant Hamlet on youtube. At least you should have made this private, because you can certainly get into trouble wih youtube.

  • ignore all the bad comments. Think of all the great performances that have been lost over the years because no-one thought to record them/film them. This is important. Thanks!

  • What for the people that cba buying tickets and supporting the RSC, if we all did this, there wouldn't be enough people going, therefore not making enough money so not actually having a play.

RSC are considering making a DVD of Hamlet due to all the interest it's recieved, i went to see it last night, and we struggled to get tickets, but enough phonecalls to them managed it.

  • That's nice, but...very poor theatre etiquette--trust me, I assure you, neither David nor anyone there, would have approved of this. In theatre, this is considered a very disrespectful and downright chav thing to do. Please, if you really care about David, don't do it again. It's just...wrong.

  • Sorry but this clearly isnt disrupting the actors in a vital part of the play.

...and what did you expect to get when you typed 'david tennant hamlet' into youtube.

  • True, guilty as charged, here. And I admit that I was curious to see how the audience responded to David in particular. But dustyboots27 is right. Taking any kind of recording, video or whatever, inside a theatre is really not acceptable. That this one [which, YES, I liked watching] is of a part of the evening that is not strictly the performance is "thin end of the wedge" and all that! Sorry, but that's just the way it is.

  • umm Stage Door Footage, where your actually ALLOWED to film!!

  • i do agree tho that filming this in the theatre is a wring thing to do. as much as everyone else would of wanted to do it.. we didnt .. respect the theatres rules... but still a gd video none the les.. hamlet was truly amazing.. i loved it.. cant wait to go see love labours lost . lol

  • Sorry 'chav' thing to do? Chavs couldnt even bloody afford to pay the rip off prices to even see the dam show!

  • OI! Most people couldn't go!

  • I can't wait to see the play too !!!!!!

  • That is so beautiful!

You lucky thing to be there.

He looks so tired but so happy.

    YAY
